  1. Use a humane trap which allows you to catch them and release them at a far away location. That is what I do. Avoid killing them.
  2. I am happily married to girl from Europe. No need to restrict yourself to girls from a Punjabi background. There are plenty of good women in Eastern Europe and South America seeking a good man. And many will be more open minded about Sikhi than our Punjabis with preconceived notions.
  3. The fault is not with Brahmwaad but with Sikhs: no one is putting a pistol to your head and saying "only marry someone of your caste." Sikhs are practicing the caste system even in Western countries...is there brahmwaad there as well? We will go nowhere till we man up and stop the caste system in our families and personal relations.
  4. Is Brahmwaad causing Sikhs to write caste in their matrimonial choices? Is Brahmwaad causing Sikhs to discriminate against Dalit Sikhs? Stop blaming others. The fault lies at home. If we treated the so-called lower castes as equals, the Christian missionaries wouldn't have any converts. We need effective parchar and to stop any caste practice. Until then we will be vulnerable to missionaries and deras.
  5. Please help stop the upcoming November 2014 sacrifice of 500,000 animals (buffaloes, chickens, pigeons, pigs and other animals) in the name of a Devi in southern Nepal as part of a local tradition. http://www.change.org/p/stop-animal-sacrifice-gadhimai-festival-nepal-mass-animal-sacrifice http://action.ciwf.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=119&ea.campaign.id=29144&ea.tracking.id=79a6928a&gclid=CJXmxaPKicECFQGVfgod16EAgQ http://stopanimalsacrifice.org/ Please help stop this coming butchery both as a Sikh and a compassionate person. 6. Are arranged marriages a prerequisite in Sikhism? I still don't see why Sikh men can't meet non-Sikh women and marry them and introduce them to Sikhi. Where is the problem in that?
  7. No one is suggesting blackmail. But I don't see why Sikh men can't go and marry non-Sikh women and introduce them to Sikhism.
  8. BTW when you talk to non-Indian women to explain your turban, make sure you mention that Sikh philosophy treats women as equals. Pretty much all the girls from non-Sikh backgrounds are floored by this. Guys, you have to use your turban to show that you stand for values such as *equal treatment of women *charity (tell them about how the hungry are fed in a gurdwara) *symbolism of the pagh and honor. Trust me, intelligent women will respect you and your faith.
  9. @ California Sardar: I think a lot of girls from non-Sikh backgrounds can respect or even become Sikhs. You don't have to restrict your search to "Sikh" girls. I didn't. In fact, I found girls from other parts of the world to be very cosmopolitan and open minded (provided they are educated.) I don't see why its necessary to limit yourself to Sikh or Punjabi girls. Plus while some Punjabi girls might have all kinds of preconcieved stereotypes about a Sardar, you will find that many girls from non-Sikh backgrounds (especially non-Indians) will be curious and will actually like you for having a turban. They (not all but some) will see you as someone committed to his faith and will think that you can be a committed and faithful partner. Anyways, this is just a suggestion. I dated outside the Punjabi community and it opens up a lot more options. You can also try international dating and have all kinds of options. Of course, there will be girls who will not be used to you because they have never seen a Sardar in their lives. But there will also be many girls who will be interested. Give it some thought.
  10. Of course they don't have ill will towards Sikhs. They just like to portray them as jokers in their films and crack Sardarji jokes. Yeah they love us so mucn, they can't stop making jokes about us.
  11. To Sardar boys who complain about women (specifically California Sardar): Why do you guys have to restrict yourself to Punjabi women? Why don't you think of dating White/Latina/Asian women or women from other parts of the world? I am not saying all Punjabi women are bad but there are plenty of single and attractive women in other parts of the world. I am sure many of the more educated ones will be interested and many will actually think you are cool for wearing a turban and standing out. A lot will be up for learning about your religion. I am not making this up as this has been my experience and FYI I am a sardar and my wife is from Eastern Europe.
  12. California Sardar: you mentioned you cut your hair a few weeks ago. Now that you have cut your hair, have the girls just popped out of nowhere? Have your problems with women suddenly vanished? I hate to be so direct, but your I have read your posts that they just ooze with low self esteem. The problem is not the TURBAN. There are plenty of guys with turbans who have attractive wives be it in India or a Western country. If the women were so uninterested in the turban would there be millions of sardars with wives? Don't you ever see a Sardar with a wife in a western country? Are all sardar boys incels or lonely 40 year olds? Come on man, wake up. And for the record there are plenty of guys without turbans from communities all over the world who have trouble finding the right girl or even a girl. Its almost always an issue with the guy's self image or the way he approaches women rather than external factors (race/turban/bald/fat etc.) BTW, all my cousins in India and the US have turbans. And every single one is married. They are all in their 20s and 30s. I don't see what the problem is.
