This ones going to the memory books. But on a positive note we should take this post as a lesson to not argue and fight over stupid arguments or discussions because you never know it could be the last day of the website and it could be shutdown and you will have to live with the guilt of saying something that you can no longer take back or apologize for and according to Guru Sahib jee it will always be on your karma, always think before you hit the button, "will my post really be worth to anyone?" Like they say think before you speak same concept goes here. And we should always post our thoughts with clarity, thought, and love rather than with anger, ego, and pride. There's the lesson of the day. Always live life with love and a little humor! Inspire and be inspired! Now continue on with excuses of why you didn't fall for it when you first saw it

Vaheguru jee ka khalsa, Vaheguru jee kee fateh! The sevadaars of SikhSangat.com have been through a long and continuous discussion in regards to SikhSangat.com and the affiliated websites such as SSNews and other member websites. There have been several concerns brought to our attention through e-mails and private messaging in regards to the posts on SikhSangat.com. As founding sevadaars of SikhSangat.com we have noticed a BIG change in the posts and the topics that are being posted. SikhSangat.com was a place where many came for inspiration and lately there have been alot of random postings and questions which we feel is not the goal of SikhSangat, considering this reason among many others we have decided to shutdown SikhSangat.com and all of its partner websites, it will be shutdown permanently and all topics/posts will be deleted. We feel as this is the only solution. Among many reasons one of the reasons are that there have been too many complaints as to the moderation of SikhSangat.com and it has gotten to the point of the sevadaars getting threats including death threats in terms of how the forum is moderated as locals from U.S., Canada, and U.K. know of the sevadars and word gets out. The domain will still be registered under the sevadars along with the affiliated websites. We will continue to provide the seva of partner websites minimally. If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact us and PM the moderators. We hope that you will forgive us and continue to live a chardi kalaa gursikhi jeevan with guru sahib's kirpaa. Thank you! Your Sevadaars, SS Team Vaheguru jee ka khalsa, Vaheguru jee kee fateh!

While it is understandable that people want to warn sangat away from negative people/parchaar, we also need to realise that these kind of threads often just provide a platform for mud slinging between the two parties. Therefore if such thing happen in this topic, it will be locked and not discussed any further.

It seems to be your local problem in UK. Solve it with more mature manner by communicating with each other (local). Coming on sikhsangat and discussing such issues is not going to help because as one replier mentioned, its only in one city of uk not in india or anyother place.. So beanti is don't seek support from others on SSForums because on forums the only outcome come is in the form of hatred. Discuss this with the sangat who attends that gurdwara sahib have a chat with all of them in sangat and see what the outcome will be. Chardekala

Bhai Vir Singh (1872 –1957) was a great poet, a scholar and a very spiritual person. Through his writings he brought awareness of the glory of the Guru’s and the Khalsa to the Sikh masses. His writings in Punjabi are famous all over India. From his pen came the best novels of the Punjabi language. He wrote historical and philosophical essays, he was the force behind the cultural renaissance in the Punjab at the turn of the century. He was conferred the degree of Doctor of Oriental learning Honoris Causa in 1949 by Punjab University. He was honoured with the Sahitya Academy Award in 1955 and the Padam Bhushan in1956 for his contributions of Punjabi literature. Bhai Vir Singh was the force behind the Singh Sabha movements literary output which was so important in awakening the Sikh masses. His earlier written novels like Sundari, Vijay Singh, Santwant Kaur and Baba Naudh Singh have to the viewed with reference to the social and political conditions of the end of the nineteenth century. Their central theme was heroism and chivalry of the Sikhs and the ethical excellence of the religion. The novels brought out the pristine glory of the Khalsa in contrast to the servility of the Hindu masses and the oppression of the Pathan and Mughal rulers. Bhai Vir Singh then turned his attention to explaining the Sikh scriptures in his weekly paper, the Khalsa Samachar. He also wrote poems which gave him a most honoured place among Punjabi poets. Thereafter he wrote biographies of the Sikh Guru’s: Kalgidhar Chamatkar, the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Guru Nanak Chamatkar, the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Bhai Vir Singh Ji was dedicated to the cause of reform, he propagated the cause of education by building schools and colleges and was a founder director of the Punjab and Sind Bank, which greatly helped in uplifting the Sikh economy. The main goals of the Singh Sabha movement was clear and uncompromising. To uplift the Sikhs in all spheres, be it political, social, moral or economic. The propagation of the Guru’s divine word, carrying of his teaching to the highest level. The removal of illiteracy and the spread of education regardless of caste or creed. The protection of political rights for the Sikhs and the removal of their grievances through constitutional methods. This was the backbone of the Singh Sabha movement , a movement that gained much attraction and gave Sikhs a role within their religion. It was the Singh Sabha movement that poured water over the rampage of Hinduism in the Punjab. It was Singh Sabha that halted the slide of Sikhism into unretreavable waters and it was Singh Sabha that made the Sikhs feel proud to be Sikhs again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhai_Vir_Singh http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=11689 http://www.sikh.net/publications/Sundri/sundri.htm http://www.info-sikh.com/SabhaPage3.html

Anti-Drug Campaign | War against Drugs in Punjab
Sewadar replied to SikhGiving.com's topic in WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Drugs in Punjab 80% of Punjabi youth takes drugs. The drug problem came to notice only few years ago. The spark was present since past many years, but the fire spread only two or three years ago and it is destroying many houses in Punjab. According to our survey, 78% people say that users make their first contact with drugs through friends. The most popular drugs among students are: Alcohol - reported by 38% Smack - reported by 37% Cigarettes - reported by 25% As you see in the above survey result, smack (powder form of heroin) is trying to take number 1 spot among the punjabi youth. Chemist Shops In the villages, the chemist shops which are meant to be the lifeline for the villagers are one major source of illegal drugs for the village people. There is a major need to control the illegal sale of medicines. The chemists do not ask for a prescription, and they do not keep any inventory of the drugs sold. They even sell the medicine in bulk to individuals, without any doctors prescription. Two Day Anti-Drug Campaign in Khalsa College, Amritsar SikhGiving in collaboration with United Sikhs held two day drug awareness camp at Khalsa College, Amritsar. A booth was set up as a part of the United Sikhs Anti-Drug program DEEVA (Drug Eradication through Education, Vigilance and Awareness). The main goal of this project is to educate the upcoming generation regarding the negative effects of DRUGS. Our Drug Awareness campaign is targeting the youth who yet have to enter the world of higher education and have to deal with peer pressure. Our Survey Data collected from random 48 users of areas around Amritsar City (approx. 6 villages). Most of the drug users are in the age group of 20 to 30 years old. From the last three years the drug use has seen a steep rise. Everybody has one thing in common which is "Unemployment". They usually inherit a good share of land ranging from 5 Kilas up to 25 kilas or belong to rich families. All of them use heroin (Smack) users. Visit this link to see survey stats: http://www.SikhGiving.com/drugs/q1.htm Desperate Youth - Willing to do anything to get High Petrol - They dip a piece of cotton wool in petrol and keep it under their nose and inhale the air and they get high by doing that. Lizard - They kill and burn the lizard and eat it to get high. Boot Polish - They rub the boot polish onto the back of their neck and turn it towards the sun and they get high feeling by doing that. Petrol Pipes - They eat the dirt deposited on the leaking petrol pipe of vehicles and petrol pumps. Bhang in Cigarette - They rub the Bhang leaf in oily hands until it turns into a small ball of dirt and they put that small ball into the cigarette and smoke it. This gives them more thrill/high than normal cigarettes. Iodex - They use Iodex in place of Jam on a toast and with that taste they get high. Iodex is a pain relief balm. Correction Fluid - A simple stationary item which is used to correct writing or typing errors on papers. They cut open it and drink the whole fluid to get high. Rehab Clinics Drug De-addiction/Rehab clinics in Punjab are not being open to help the addicts but another way to do business. We couldn't find any clinic which offers good long term plan for the addicts and works according to the Gurmat priniciples. We found Navjeevan Rehab center as the most effective clinic which offers counseling and raising the self-esteem of the addicts. But there are few down points according to Sikh rehat; They shave off everything on addicts face (including Eyebrows) as the punishment to those who try to run away from the clinic. Drug problem in Punjab can be controlled only if we run the de-addiction centre according to sikhi rehat, including maintaining the Strict Amrit Vela program. Sikhi lifestyle can give these addicts a new life, making them feel that drugs are BIG NO in their religion. We need to lift the spirits of the addicts and boost their self esteem by giving them good counseling and gurmat education. For Full project report, pls visit: SikhGiving.com -
