  1. Jeeoo, Sad news. Charity no 1120571 is set up as Sikh Community and Youth Services Slough not Mata Sahib Kaur Academy, i assume thats the parent charity running MSKA. The last accounts for Sikh Community Youth Services Slough was for Jun 2008 on charity comm website. Where can i see the Jun 2009 or Jun 2010 accounts & are they on sikhacademy.co.uk? If I paid in transfered money tommorrow will it still clear by Friday 21 Jan. Good luck with the fund raising.
  2. My masi and masard are sewadars at this gurughar. The committee are spreading some false propoganda regarding this issue. They are making out that they have recieved threats from militant sikh groups and are being victimised because of caste. They are not clearly communicating the issue to the local sangat. The local sangat who attend rst are being led to believe that they are under threat from outside forces. I think satkaar need to clarify that these claims are false and the committee are just atempting to deflect the beadbi of mjsr hall by scaremongering.
  3. Good news report. Highlights a moral reason for the campaign. Funny how these journalists and normal people on the street understand the sacrilege and stubborn "sikh" committees like RST still play ignorance. Satkaar need to watch out for the portrayl that committees and some leaders are trying to falsely push through. There are attempts to scaremonger the sangat into thinking that satkaar are violent etc.
  4. well done central gurdwara london, shepherds bush. you've set the example!
  5. speaking to singhs up and down the country, these definite confirmed jathas ready to come down to grays from Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, Bedford, Luton, Southall, Ilford, East Ham, Slough, Southampton.
  6. What was the outcome of the meeting at Southall Singh Sabha today regarding the grays protest next week?
  7. hukumnamas and sandeshs mean nothing to this committee, even naming and shaming means nothing to someone who is besharm. I also fail to see legal action being succesdful especially as no uk sikh jathebhandi is responible enough to champion or fund the legal action. so, in the event of no interest shown by any other elder sikh group in either uk or punjab then protesting outside the gurdwara party hall on the day a boozey party is to take place is the only effective language this grays committee, the grays community and our overweight leadership might eventually understand.
  8. Back to this old familiar scenario! ! If the sikh leaders are to fat and lazy to deal with these issues, then the sikh community should at least step up to feel a sense of responsibilty for their religious centres. I know most forum members wont bother with this issue, but those who will be feeling concerned about the abuse of the gurdwara premises at grays need to contact this committee asap. This does not need to end up as a mass protest on 16 Oct, this can be resolved by the sangat feeling a sense of ownership of the issue. Isnt it time for sikhs to finally wake up and become proactive?
  9. Bhai Harjinder SIngh Shrinagarwale and jatha are coming to Ilford Sunday 25 July 2010 6pm to 7pm Gurdwara Singh Sabha E. London, 720 High Rd, Seven Kings, Ilford, IG3 8SX
  10. The GurSikhs from Coventry were Bhai Navreet Singh, Bhai Harinder Singh & Bhai Suraj Singh from Gurdwara Guru Hargobind Sahib, Coventry St, Coventry. See more on their website (www.guruhargobindsahib.co.uk) There is a Wednesday Sikh history workshop at Goodmayes Singh Sabha from 6.30pm to 8pm. All ages... There will be a camp reunion at Karamsar Gurdwara soon, probably in June, still to be confirmed. Contact Bhai Satvinder Singh at Karamsar Punjabi School for more info.
  11. "Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Ihai Shubh Karman te Kabhu Na Taroo" -Grant me this blessing O God, That I never refrain from carrying out a righteous act. A true Sikh of the Guru...I remember this Singh singing dharmik geet/dharna when in the sangat during the East London Nagar Kirtans. Is there any local keertan programmes in his memory? There should be some kind of memorial for him even if the funeral is not in the UK.
  12. Someone died!? If you ask me there should be have been criminal proceedings against the caterer, the family of the couple and the gurdwara committee. It was all their negligence and blatant lack of respect for sikhi which resulted in a death.
  13. Jujhar Singh Ji, you are obviously close to the namdhari belief and any further discussion will only become offensive. I wont take this discussion forward as it is inapproriate for other users. I would however like to communicate my family's annoyane at the Sikh Channel for allowing certain people of certain affiliations to represent the Sikh belief. We will be watching with caution
  14. Jujhar Singh ji, With all due respect I think you live in la de da land when you put forward the naamdhari belief. You seem to be picking on the acceptable aspects, which is hugely shadowed by the unacceptable aspects. I suggest you visit the local namdhari dera and see who really is their guru.
  15. The issue of namdharis is completely different, they have distorted Sikh ithaas to fictiously create their "satguru" . I am sure the namdhari kathavachaks a lovely man, but he shouldnt be allowed to be on an influential sikh platform like this Tv channel
  16. It sends confusing messages out. LOL My family's just started a debate on it as we speak.
  17. Whats the special 'parchar' thats meant to change everything? You all go contfidently on about it, so you must have the answers. Is it that by making out everythings crap, you think you can slap people with a dose of tough love. Look at it this way, the frustated 990 will never have the drive & commitment to take the panth forward but the 10 will have enough bakshish to carry the panth. I think we need to realise that most of us are the frustated 990 and are only capable of moaning about the state of the panth.
  18. I hear you. Negativity is a human emotion which is difficult to overcome & it overrides peoples opinions because even when theres goodness, people only want to see badness. Its the complete opposite of chardi kala. Sometimes it feels that 9 out of 10 of the conversations I have about sikhi leads to how bad a state everything is. Very rare to praise the right things but easy to point out the bad things. I think that we know our own kamyaa but make them out to be everyone elses kamyaa. Bhul chuk marf.
  19. The problem is people read a few history books and think they know sikhi inside out. I think there's 2 groups. Theres those that will always live through the eyes of others, who will rely on reading someone elses interpretations and only adopt views which agree with theirs. And then there's those who experience it themselves and dont rely on others interpretations. The biggest problem with sikhs today is they would rather accept someone elses opinion then search for the real answers which are within. For someone to claim that a mahapurash like bhai nand lal singh goya desecrated his kes is like saying bhai taru singh did not keep his kes. I think that people of a certain itellect asume they have the intelligence to make statements on Bhai Nand Lal Singh, that's the capacity of their intellect. As you progress in your Sikh jeevan a lot becomes clearer as our intellect becomes driven by gurmat and not manmat. From my own life experiences I learnt that eventually as Sikh you have to keep your kes, take amrit and live in rehat. You cant move forward without doing that.
  20. The majority of the sikh population has the same view. So what's so new about this dj's statement. 90 % of my family & friends think the same. In the 25 years since bluestar, much of the community has seen is forceful gurdwara takeovers and fights in vasakhi melas by people calling themselves khalistanis. Many link it to 84 and assume all the shaheeds were terrorists.
  21. Just to clarify, theres no regular sangat who attend this gurdwara. Since the school opened rumours have always been circulated. First it was about the baba who started it and then the rumours about the camps tarnished the school locally. Rumours are very powerfull and have sucessfully managed to keep the sangat away. Theres another sikh school recently opened nearby which was started by a split off from the khalsa school. So it looks like theres a management problem at the school.
  22. Point taken. Is the question then whether there is a need for the Khalsa School? Should there even be a Gurdwara within this school? What is the current pupil count because as far as I know I don't know any of my relatives from that part of the world who send their kids to the Khalsa School. From my understanding the school was popular in its early days. Due to poor results and rumours most parents took their kids out. No one seems to use the gurdwara part of the school at all. Its just there for the sake of it.
  23. I agree with you rupinder but you are wrong about locals not being involved. It is not strictly a Gurdwara as we normally know them, it's still a school governed by different rules. It's not that easy to turn up and do sewa. On the other hand I do agree that locals have neglected the khalsa school by distancing themselves altogether. At least the camps were a way of feeling part of the school, but due to pressure from some local knowitalls this stopped too. Being local to the area I agree that there is more commitment we can give to the school, even if we do not send our own children there.
  24. I understand rupinder singhs comments and concerns about the comedy thing. theres a sense of imaturity about it, especially if its anything like you tube video of the silly boliyan by the young akj walay.
  25. I dont understand the concept of a comedy show as a sikhi event. Can someone explain it to me, I don't get it? Comedy acts usually work by belittling someone or something else Is that the plan?
