A good way to annoy a Punjabi is to tell them they're pronouncing "IELTS" wrong. They pronounce it as "ILETS" when it's obviously "IELTS".

They distance themselves from their culture and Sikhi as they see whites as superior ,how are these people going to do anything for Sikhi? I don't know why sikhs never made any effort to convert these downtrodden people in India. Punjabis need to become minority among Sikhs as they have proven they are not worthy of it.
There's no religious, social, and institutional apparatus that will support anyone from these backgrounds once they become Sikhs. They won't be sprinkled with magic stardust and transform into SuperSikhs after conversion. They'll go from poor, disenfranchised Hindus to poor, disenfranchised Sikhs. Stop peddling fantasy. These people are human beings, not faceless units and bodies for whatever army you're fantasising about.

Honestly, I would move to Panjab now but its their behaviour/actions (like Plane Gurdwara's) there which make me sceptical about it nowadays. You can say past immigrants didn't resort to morally low ways to immigrate such as, "contract" marriages which are rife in Panjab now, abandoning "husbands" leading to suicides or turning Gurdwara's into places of blind ritualism. They also didn't heavily pollute Panjab's landscape with IELTS centers and visa agents on every single corner which rip you off and aren't genuine.
Yes, you're spot on with those distinctions and I've made them too, but it's lost on them. They don't see them at all. I thought I was missing something, lol.

Any ideas as to what the response should be (to Punjabis) when people like us comment negatively on these kind of occurrences? They make the - admittedly valid - argument that we're only in foreign lands because our fathers, grandfathers, etc., came over. They claim that we don't have a leg to stand on when we criticise current Indian behaviour. Any ideas?

Why beat him senseless, confirm his religious identity, and then refuse to kill him based on the victim's response?

The prospective bride was lucky.
I know a girl, pretty looking who for years rejected rishtay from keshdari boys, truck drivers, office clerks and shes now in her 40s still at home watching hindi serials waiting for her prince charming.
Oh God.

My father once told me that our people aren't 2 faced, they are more like four faced or five faced.
I come to think that they are all authentic it just depends on the situation as our people are quite contradictory.
They are all things and every thing all at the same time.
In terms of trust, I guess it depends on the varying degrees, the question is what are you trusting them with?
You have to maintain certain boundaries but be able to mingle with them without disclosing too much.
You have to keep your 'Fight or Flight' instinct tuned up to the max around them, lol. That apparently leads to PTSD if it continues long enough without respite (emotional trauma). So maybe that thing of them being dead behind the eyes has some actual scientific validity.

They are very adaptable and can have great social intelligence.
They are very good and adept to suss out the landscape very quickly.
They cannot get away to the extent like they back in Punjab but they find loop holes to exploit in the west.
Basically, you can never trust or relax around Punjabis, because you just don't know whether that front they're projecting at a particular moment is authentic or not.

do you think most groups of people would act in this way if they knew they can behave in any way they want in some environment with no bad consequences?
You've got to live with that voice in your head that tells you you're a piece of 5hit when you've been scummy. Unless someone's a complete psycho, it's very difficult to turn off that voice.

For all their cunning they have a petulant adolescent mentality.
Never mistake cunning for wisdom.
They come from an environment where it is dog eat dog. They are not used to altruism.
When they see altruism they see it as weakness, something that should be exploited.
They see everything as a race. Who gets pakka first and will always attempt to steal a march.
You giving them advice is seen through the prism "Are they holding me back?"
If you have seen the cartoon Wacky Races, <banned word filter activated> Dastardly and Muttley would be seen as the good guys by the people in Punjab.
It is not that they are necessarily bad people, it is their morality is coloured by their environment.
How do they suddenly turn on a dime and know how to behave themselves as soon as they step foot on foreign soil? Doesn't that suggest a calculating mindset?
That would suggest to me that when they're on their home soil, they're taking the pi55 and taking advantage of their environment, which makes them look even worse, because it suggests that when the opportunity to do bad is presented to them in a place where they know they won't be singled out for it, they choose to indulge themselves. That's some serious sociopathic nonsense.

Forget going to these monuments to capitalistic degeneracy. Don't put money in these despicable people's coffers. There's tonnes of places you could go in the world; places of natural beauty and history that your kids will appreciate. Be a little adventurous.

wow I am shocked. Cant believe people in punjab would be doing such a thing. Also if you look at the person you would never in a 1000 years think that this person would do such a thing. He looks like a respectful old Sikh man. What a shame! Doing such atrocities on another human being. Shameful! And he doesn't look remorseful just embarrassed and scared that he got caught. Malech Khalsa.
Surprised you didn't say it was the poor guy's Hindu karma for what India did to Sikhs.

They are all know-it-all.
Any advice you give them is thought of something you are deliberately doing to hold them back because they think you are jealous of them.
Just leave them to it.
There's only one other category of person who behaves in this manner: disobedient young children. Says it all.

I agree, these 'freshie' families won't know what has gone on here unless it's made very clear to them, I have said it before.
They're too arrogant to listen. They think they've got it all figured out. There's still a hangover from what they've picked up in Punjab, i.e. pro-Islamic culture. Let them figure it out, the hard way, if needs be.
