Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Please someone shed light on the following situation: I understand that waheguru ji is everywhere. This is what I feel: when I go to gurughar to do ardas, most of the times my ardas is accepted and when I do from home, sometimes ardas is not accepted. This makes me believe that i need to go to gurughar to do ardas in order to fullfill the ardas wishes. Now, here the problen is, I do regular path and ardas at home and when something is important, i do ardas at home and go to gurudwara sahib to do the ardas and if i don't do that i feel something bad will happen and my wish will not be fullfilled. Sometimes the list gets so big, i had to write it on a piece of paper and look at the paper while doing ardas at gurughar. Sometimes I get frustrated because sometimes there is hukumnama, sometimes ardas happening, sometimes sukhasan, sometimes there is a big crowd (lineup) that I can't peacefully stand and do ardas and wait until everything is over. Also, i think if I do full ardass (means like the way the pathi sahib do), that's the only way fullfill my wishes. I think if I don't do full ardas and simply request for my wishes to be fullfilled (point to point talk without full ardas), waheguru will not listen and won't grant me those wishes. This all is driving me crazy with frustration and mental peace. is it real that only ardas has to be done at gurughar to be fullfilled or it can be done anywhere anytime? Kindly advise what should I do and please guide me to the right path.

wjkkwjkf Sorry, if someone feels the question as weird. Is there any specific rehat maryada on how to handle Khanda sahib or kada sahib. Does these need to be avoided getting dirty and in case it gets dirty should we wash it thoroughly thinking that it is sacred. Shall we avoid touching khanda sahib or kada sahib with dirty hands? I have khanda sahib with a chain hanging in my car and just wanted to confirm if I should avoid touching it with dirty hands and clean it often?

They smoke detectors are really strong in sensing the smoke and also i don't have any special place because all the floors are connected with smoke detectors. Also, I can't burn it outside as if the people notice it, they might call the police or fire brigade.

Thank you. I think my nearest gurudwara may accept the old gutka sahibs and pothis. My main question is about how to dispose of paper advertisements/marriage cards, cards/pamphlets, calenders which has gurbani words, guru sahib photos, gurudwara photos etc. in a proper manner.

Even if I use the candles, when I burn the paper, there would be smoke and the smoke alarm will trigger.

Thank you for the information. The problem is that we have smoke sensors at home, I can't burn it else the alarm will start to sound. Also, we can't burn it outside as we are not allowed and also if neighbors see the fire, they might call the fire brigade/police. What are the other options?

WJKKWJKF Is it acceptable to throw in the garbage/recycle the pamphlets(advertising material) that usually has some gurbani words/verses printed on it? If not, what should be done. Please advise.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji. My basic understanding is that Gurpurab is celebrated when our gurus were born. Also gurpurab is observed on martyrdom of gurus. So, is gurgaddi divas also called gurpurab? Is jyoti jyot of any of the gurus who were not martyred, is also observed as gurpurab? What else could be called as gurpurab?

Thank you for the link. This is absolutely true that the inner cleanliness is most important. The only reason i started this thread is to ensure that I don't do any kind of beadbi knowingly or unknowingly. I want to ensure that I follow the right path.

Thank you everyone for the information. It is indeed very helpful. I understand that I should do full body shower and wear clean clothes in the morning during nitnem which is what I usually do. However before doing path from gukta sahib throughout the day like afternoon/evening.or before touching any holy material, i should ideally do punj ishnaan(atleast wash my hands) however, do i need to change and wear clean clothes as well? because sometimes during the day, i use the washroom/toilet. I usually visit gurudwara sahib after taking full shower and wear clean clothes regardless whether I am going there to pay obeisance or to read gurbani from guru granth sahib ji. I understand that when I need to read gurbani from guru granth sahib ji, I need to take full shower and wear clean clothes. However, in some circumstances when I take shower during the morning and wear clean clothes and use toilet/washroom after that and during middle of the day if I need to visit gurudwara sahib pay obeisance only (not to read gurbani from guru granth sahib ji), should I just wash my hands or I should take full shower and wear clean clothes again?

Thank you for the information. When I visit gurudwara sahib, I always ensure that I take shower and wear clean clothes. However, sometimes, it is not possible because of various circumstances. I am more concerned about the personal hygiene at home. I just have few gutka sahib at home and a small worshiping place. I always do nitnem after taking full shower.However, sometimes I need to do evening path (rehraas sahib) or sometimes sukhmani sahib during the day and sometimes i use the washroom before that time and it is not possible to take shower throughout the day before doing path. I clean the worship place periodically however sometimes it's urgent to use washroom and then i feel like not to touch the sacred material. I completely understand that guru sahib is dyalu and he always forgives but I want to make sure that I don't do any mistake knowingly or unknowingly. I would really appreciate someone's guidance regarding this.

I have a question and I hope someone can guide me to the right way: If I need to read bani from Guru Granth Sahib ji, gutka sahib ji or if I need to touch any holy photos or holy material(example periodically cleaning the worship space), do I need to take complete shower and wear clean clothes and then do the needful? Isn't it sufficient If I just wash my hands properly after using the toilet and then touch gutka sahib, guru granth sahib ji or any holy photo or any holy material.

When we do our personal ardaas in front of guru granth sahib ji, does it have to be same like the regular full ardaas (just like the one which granthi sahib recites) or do we can just do a quick ardaas benti without reciting the full ardaas? Will it makes any difference?

Its my personal opinion that when ardaas is happening for the congregation or when hukumnama is being read, the people in the sangat should concentrate on on listening to ardaas/hukumnama in order to give utmost respect to sri guru granth sahib ji. I have thought of asking these questions about doing personal ardaas from granthi sahib at gurughar and will ask him once i visit gurudwara sahib. Its good to get ideas/advice/suggestions from experienced people in the forum(as well as online)l that's why i have posted the questions in this thread. My soul says that I should do ardaas when guru maharaj is covered with rumala sahib (like the same as when ardaas is done by granthi sahib when guru sahib is covered) however most of the times when i visit gurughar I see someone reading from guru granth sahib ji. That's why I was trying to ask all these questions

Thank you for the information. I personally prefer not to do personal ardaas when there is existing ardaas by granthi sahib going on or when there is hukumnama being read. I am just wondering that if it is correct for me to do my personal ardaas while someone is reading guru granth sahib ji silently or loudly for the sangat. Is it acceptable to guru granth sahib ji? I know its hard to answer this question. But i just want to avoid any kind of beadbi and would like to discipline myself to ensure I do the right thing. I personally think that when guru granth sahib ji is covered with rumala sahib then it is appropriate for anyone to do ardaas. As everyone knows that when ardaas is done by granthi sahib for the congregation, at that point of time, guru granth sahib is covered with rumala sahib. Then howcome or why (why as an exception) someone can do personal ardaas while guru granth sahib ji is being read by someone. Is it appropriate?
