And how many mothers lost their sons because of Congress Party?

If one mother looses her child for any reason it's way to many, I'm not here to debate party politics (especially in India, they're all a bunch of useless self serving fools over there).

@kcmidlands I have heard that Leicester/shire has been increasingly thought as a desirable area for Sikhs who have emigrated from Europe and other parts of the UK.

And there seem to be quite regular Gurdwara programs/events there advertised on TV and I saw recent Hola Mohalla event on TV and were lots of Rehitvaan young Sikhs

I know of Sikhs in Birmingham who regularly go to one of the Gurdwaras there also

I can swear there was another thread about this incident.

I don't know about desirable, Leicester has a high population of "Illegal" Punjabi's who find it easy to get work in the local factories and building sites, cash in hand, no questions asked.

I think the Gurdwara you're on about is Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, it's where the meeting took place for this incident, it's a Panthic Gurdwara, they do a lot for the youth there now, I know the head of the committee really well, he's a good guy, always doing the best for the local community.

It's mostly highly processed soya. I am vegetarian but I don't think these products are good for the health much. Quorn use egg a lot I think (if you don't eat egg)

A lot of the new stuff is based around wheat protein but a lot of meat alternative is still soya based, Quorn have introduced their vegan stuff that doesn't have egg in it, we tried it and didn't like it but then we don't eat a lot of their products anyway.

Novak Djokovic has Covid-19 vaccination 'exemption' to play at Australian Open

"I've spent fantastic quality time with my loved ones over the break and today I'm heading Down Under with an exemption permission," the nine-time Australian Open champion said in Instagram post on Tuesday; Australian Open say his medical exemption passed a 'rigorous, multi-step' review.

Novak Djokovic says he has an "exemption permission" to play at the Australian Open without a Covid-19 vaccination.

Djokovic had never revealed whether he is vaccinated against Covid-19, but has criticised mandates ruling that players must be double-jabbed.

"I've spent fantastic quality time with my loved ones over the break and today I'm heading Down Under with an exemption permission," he said on social media on Tuesday.

Rules in Victoria, where the Australian Open will begin on January 17, stated that players must be double-vaccinated against Covid-19.

Djokovic had previously been named in Serbia's team for the ATP Cup in Sydney, but then withdrew from the tournament which is a traditional warm-up for the Australian Open, leading to a mystery about his participation in the Grand Slam.

Yeah, he's had his Visa cancelled.

    Million tax evasion

"Batman" sentenced to more than three years in prison

It was about sales tax fraud on a grand scale: The Briton Peter Virdee Singh, known as "Batman", has been sentenced to imprisonment according to SPIEGEL information. His confession was taken into account.
    December 23, 2021, 9.43 p.m.

He is considered a key figure in the case of a so-called sales tax carousel that cost the German tax authorities almost 125 million euros: The British Peter Virdee Singh, known as "Batman", has been imprisoned for three years and three months in six cases by the Frankfurt am Main regional court for serious tax evasion To be sentenced. The attorney general there confirmed to SPIEGEL on request.

The judgment was issued on December 16 - without the public having been informed. In the sentence, among other things, Singh's confession and voluntary "reparation payments" of the convicted person in the amount of 3.9 million euros played a role, it said. According to SPIEGEL information, Singh is currently back in Great Britain before he has to start his prison sentence. The United Kingdom transferred him to Germany a week before the verdict was to be pronounced. Officials from the Department for Serious and Organized Crime of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) accompanied him at the time. At times, Singh was one of the most wanted men in Europe.

The fraud model of Singh and his accomplices was based on the trading of emission certificates , as the public prosecutor's office, tax investigators and the BKA reconstructed in years of investigative work: A group of business people imported CO 2 certificates tax-free from an EU country to Germany , smuggled them through numerous bogus companies and carried it out again through Deutsche Bank . The trick was to get 19 percent sales tax reimbursed by the tax authorities on export, which in truth was never paid. Several members of the gang had already been sentenced to imprisonment for this.

Singh himself had long portrayed himself as a righteous, successful businessman. There are pictures of him shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth II or showing himself with pop star Rihanna .

It'll be interesting if he does go to jail over there considering the circles he runs in and being a Tory donor, but hey, what goes around comes around.

  6. This is all we need, it's as though minorities aren't demonised enough here some nutter thinking he's Udham Singh reborn decides to have a go at the Queen of all people, fucks sake.

    Very very sad news

It’s the apaar kirpa and compassion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, daas found something special in this life. Went through hard things like grieving, bullying at school, depression and attempting suicide. Sangat ji daas isn’t even from a Sikhi background at all, nor from an area with much Sikhi. By his kirpa kept doing mool mantar, then age 16 darshan happened. Guru Sahib Ji personally gave daas jugat of dasam duar.

Past few years daas has lived very gupat remaining hidden from the world. Only people in my life now are parents, work colleagues and few family friends. Life is very isolated and lonely.

There’s a huge opportunity to write guidance on naam simran covering current issues - depression, mental health, suicide, social media too!

Hopefully in around 1 week new project could be ready to share now.

I'm glad you found your way out of darkness and that your path was made easier by Sikhi.

I think a lot more can and should be done in out community, there's been a few prominent Sikhs on social media (UK) that have set things up to make it easier for Sikh men to have an outlet and discuss their problems but i don't think they will last that long, they'll be a flash in the pan until the next unfortunate incident where one of ours takes his (ore even her) life.

I find it disappointing that we now have upwards of 4 Sikh tv stations here in the UK and not one of them mentioned what happened with this young man so it could lead to more discussion and maybe help others, it seems they're too busy promoting their own causes and asking or money.

  8. I've been debating whether to post this, i saw nothing about it posted so i though I'd share.

On Thursday evening there was a post on Twitter (to begin with) about a young Singh who had gone missing, he left a lengthy note on an Instagram post, it was pretty intense reading as it turned out he's been suffering from depression for a number of years and not told anyone, i followed it through the evening as more and more people started looking from him, i did Ardaas before going to bed that he would be found and that he would find help in whatever he was going through, I thought, like the majority of these cases I'd wake up and he would have been found.

Into the morning after the school run i checked on Twitter and Instagram for any news, the young  Singh had committed suicide, he jumped from the M621 bridge in Leeds, i don't know why but this has really hit me hard to a point where i was nearly in tears when i read about what happened, this young man had suffered from depression and it had got to a point where he felt death was the only escape, there's not been much reported aside from social media, there's a link below.

    https://celebsaga.com/deep-singh-m621-bridge-fall-death-leeds-suicide-of-missing-man-mr-singh/

The bigger issue here for me is that there seems to be a complete lack of support for men in our community to go and talk to someone, we're just meant to grin an bear it, I'm sure this has probably been spoken about before on these forums as well, there seems to be a number of cases this year alone where men from the Sikh community have ended there lives due to depression.

On a day to day basis we don't know what battles someone is fighting, most of the time we can take some solace in Gurbani but what happens when that isn't enough, one thing i do know is that men in our community need to learn to talk and not bottle things up, sometimes it could mean the difference between someone deciding to live another day or not.

Just looked at gov website on voting for this bill, which MPs voted 'aye'/'noe'

    https://votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Commons/Division/1175?byMember=False#notrecorded

None of the Conservative MP's voted against, even all the colored ones. Rishi Sunak and Alok Sharma did not put a vote

I think with bills like this they are all expected to tow the company line otherwise they face the party whip, it's still no excuse for not having any morals.
