  1. Problem is there is scant evidence to support the idea that the gurus had a problem marriage across dharams. Moreover with regard to traditions guru nanak quite clearly demonstrated an cross culturalism as articulated in his attire.. The problem we have these days is that people want to reduce sikhi into a homogeneous singular identity when it is the epitome of pluralism..
  2. Pointless argument. Sikhs do and will marry whoever they choose and raise their kids however they choose
  3. I fully agree and approach all study by deconstructing as much as possible. However I think many people have agendas and navigating them requires a great deal of care.. It is why I try to revert back to actual evidence or scripture. I agree with you though ??
  4. I was largely referring to the way @Akalifauj chose to engage with me ??
  5. I have been studying for many years.. I believe in discussion and exegesis. I am opinionated but I don't have to share someone's opinions or interpretations. When I do I happy to agree but if I don't I must do what is right, which is to ask questions.. I have always thought sikhi is about sharing knowledge. So when someone tells me that I am ignorant for simply asking a question I tend to think they are being defensive because they don't have the answer to the question or able to corroborate their statements.. With all due respect I am not referring to you, and I very much welcome your comments here in this thread ??
  6. Bro I understand what you are saying. I don't think I waffle, but you can characterise it like that. Personally I believe I spend rather more time than I would like calling out the inherent contradictions in people's assertions or asking people to back up their usually dogmatic statements. I would much rather spend time exploring things but I find people are quick to make grandiose statements and then when asked to substantiate or corroborate them instead of simply providing references they get abusive, Will try and deflect etc. I can't accept that and feel morally compelled not to allow that type of bullying.. I try and stick to the point, simply asking for references.. I do study gurmukhi and gurbani and I struggle to find any of the dogmatism some people do. So for me, being provided examples to then research and study is fundamental..
  7. May I also just add that it is ironic that you said that I am "even trying to develop the basic linguistic skills required for you to have a genuine Sikh experience". I reckon you should look up the definition of 'linguistic'. Had you said I was lacking the 'critical reasoning' or 'grammar', you may have had a point. But your misuse of the term 'linguistic' only illuminates that you don't have a grasp of the word 'linguistic' . The grammar of sikhi demands us to be Shudh. And if we can't be Shudh then we should refrain from or take greater care expressing ourselves..
  8. Fair enough if you perceive me as simply arguing for the sake of it. I don't think I do that but if you do think that about me you are entitled to that opinion.. I would love to develop the basic linguistic skills required for the genuine sikh experience.. What are the basic skills that I am missing? I would love to fill that hole and grow ??
  9. Like I said if you don't know the answer that is cool. It was a rhetorical question and wasn't supposed to be that controversial.. I would never claim to know more than you about heritage or sikhi. But I do think you probably think you know than you actually do. Like most of us to be fair.
  10. Dude can you please tell me how I talk out of my ar5e. Instead of getting abusive simply refute and demonstrate with examples of it. It should not be that difficult.
  11. Err.. I'm confused as to how that is a answer to the question I asked? I know you find solace in feeling outraged the whole time but please engage your brain and stop being a snowflake.. Learning gurmukhi is not a bother, and my question is very simple. What is the name of God in sikhi if there is a name? I'm not sure why you find that so controversial? The question was posed in context of the post made.. If you don't know the answer that's cool but why get upset about the question
  12. Bro I was just asking the question next man got all upset on your behalf ?
  13. Lol Plastic Singh ji what credentials do you seek..? Who is @Amit12and what do they have to with your outbursts?
  14. I'm pretty sure you will just run and hide.. Plastic Singh?
  15. What are your credentials? @Redopticssaid they were a expert in Christianity.. I merely asked what measure they applied to qualify them as a expert. You need to simmer down. But now that you have piped up and acting the big man, tell me or provide me with a example of when I have pretended to know everything.. ? You're a joke. You never qualify your statements. Put the cuckoo back in the clock
  16. If someone doesn't have all these ceremonies does that mean they are not a sikh?
