  1. The spirits of Sikhs / Shaheeds easily get attracted to nice smells. Of course, NICE SMELL ISN'T ENOUGH! The house / area needs to be pure, Gurbani, Ardaas took place. These are fundamental reason why Jot and dhoof needs to be lit in houses. Can be once in a while. If people have SGGS in their homes Joth is a MUST. It purifys air for Maharaj. Another reason if you make Degh at home... It doesn't matter WHAT / how u made that Degh but after preparations and before Ardaas, Dhoof must be lit in the same room where you will do the Ardaas of bhog. The good spirits enter the house / area and consume the Degh but we will not realise it. The light easily attracts them then they're happy with how nice the house smells, where a nectar like thing, Prashad, is being made. Joth and Dhoof is traditional, so better to use them rather than air freshener sprays, torch light as they don't have same effects. Bhul chuk maaf.
  2. Bhagwant Mann will be criticised by punjabis and be called a traitor by Sikhs. Hor k hona??? I'll give it about... 2 months.
  3. Ah? I guess all situation is different. What's important to you, bhenji? Amritdhari, live with parents? What about education level?
  4. Forgot to add from last post. Few times I been to Punjabi reception recently. Now, back in the days men and women kept a HUGE gap so women on one side men on the other side dancing away. However, nowadays is utterly shocking. Not only has that gap been eradicated, but the Western songs? i.e. Ed Sheeran's, the Shape of you IS BEING PLAYED!!! And it's after 10pm, you see Western / bhangra being mixed up. YOU SEE BOYS N GIRLS TOGETHER MIXED! It goes from Punjabi reception to Western nightclub.
  5. There is katha behind Giddha. During Moghuls reign Sikh and Hindu hid in homes. The only way to shame the women was for Moghul troopers to go around house to house, force out the women and make them dance in front of men and the locals. These women, daughters, mothers were forced to dance. ONLY after this time was Gidda created!!! Katha from Sant Kartaar Singh Ji Bhinderwale (Jathedar of Damdami Taksaal 1970's) katha can be found on Youtube. Katha is over one hour long and title is "Importance of Sadhsangat?" something like that. By listening to the whole Katha you will hear it. As for my views... hmm... time was different back then. Moghuls don't exist and women look forward to doing Giddah at parties, dancing in front of men and women. But is it right or wrong? If you look forward to something, it makes you happy right? Am not saying "Let's infringe the rehat for our happiness" unfortunately, Giddah is an unstoppable thing. It makes a joyous occasion enjoyable today. As for the Rehat, it's in 52 commandments not to dance. So we need to use our minds is Giddah important or Rehat? I have been on the dance floor but since getting baptised, everytime I hit the dance floor I cannot do the bhangra! I imagine Guru Gobind Singh watching me and tutting away, like literally. I have 0 motivation to start doing bhangra. The only Amritdhari turban wearing women I have seen doing Giddah are in India. Simply because they probably do not know 52 commandments like we know them (or should know them). Or it can even easily be they are less stressed about Sikhi and life in general than I am. If you take less stress... Life is easier. You can fully function the way you want to. It's like an icy door and a normal door. A normal door can easily open but an icy door? because of the ice the door will have to be given quite a bit of force to open and close. But it will still not be quite the same as opening an icy door. On reflection I think we all should be tension free from ANYTHING in life, especially religion. Keep your Rehat, Nitnem, Kakkars but whatever you do, do it with laughter and enthusiasm. When you drive a car you drive with lightly holding the steering, sat back to relax and it's only the eyes that move. However, if you sit upright, eyes furrowed on the road, hold steering wheel tight you ain't getting far.

  7. I do see your valid point esp other kids are better than your own and drilling it in them. But these things are damaging and can take place it any community.
  8. A Greek Mythology by Charlotte Higgins and You are not so smart by David Mcraney.
  9. Yes there IS racism but offenders do not easily get off no matter who they are.
  10. From exp I'd say it's less. Yes there is EDL/BNP but EVERY country has problems; Blacks oppressed in USA, Sikhs in India, Islamic country terror attacks. With the help and efforts of Whites, Asians and other ethnicity, racism is far less in UK.
  11. YES! Keep doing it'll b an hour only within a month. Only took Amrit? DON'T WORRY! TBH in Puratan time newly Amritdhari's did Japji Sahib, Rehraas and Rkhia d Shabd and Kirtan Sohila before bed for six months. On 7th month the whole seven baanias started.
  12. First of all, it certainly is not "A Sin." It just means you'll get less fruits for your labour. Take it from me... Do 60 minutes of Naam jap in the day. Even if u Sleep at 10pm your body and mind will automatically wake up at around 4am. And the 4 Bujjar Kurehit are the only things to avoid in life, along with Kaam, krodh, eerka, ahnkar, niindia / jhuglia. THESE ARE SINS!
  13. Shame really, on the path to invaluable seva as well... No wonder he died young. Anyone against Sikhi or ridiculing it on a national level, they don't have a long life.
  14. No matter how much u learned, folks from Punjab will NEVER hear ਭ but ਪ when foreigners pronounce it. ਫ is sometimes light .ਫ, sometimes hard.
  15. Yeah I agree hopefully someday I'll agree and follow strictly home made food only with Baania going into it during prep. Now, am a 100% vegetarian and would like to add, there is a huge difference between Halaal and Chatka / normal meat. Just like Baania makes Normal water Amrit or Baania preps home made food / langar with power, Kalaam makes normal meat into halaal. Back to video, hopefully someday I will stick to homemade food only. The change am going to make starting TODAY, am going to do prayers over the meals during prep and tell my wife to do the same. Can even play Kirtan on phone but it's important to do Naam Jaap too I believe.
  16. Bhen Ji for me... One used to be peng which is worst! Google Peng you certainly won't get the same meaning. Bhaji instead of paaji but 22g sounds cool too.
  17. Excellent point! It can be achieved but how? Bring work materials to them? Seems a hefty job. Take them to work location? Need more building and construction for that. In the long run a great idea I'd say.
  18. I know that USA's portion are bigger than UK... like, waaaaaay bigger dude.
  19. Best tip I can give how I learned. But I was doing 7 Baania for six years without fail, before I decided to do it off by heart. Read one verse ONLY then keep repeating it throughout the day. Go Gurudwara and do seva when you have time. Seva will help it's all connected.
  20. Thanks Ji, Been literally 5 years since I last gambled. I then wrote the above two months later. I was single, still with parents but that's changed. Can't afford to gamble and hope never to go back. TBH I stopped worrying about "What will happen when I die? How will the winnings affect me this / that life? For gambling?" I committed to it now going with the flow.
  21. Erm... Neither positive nor negative??? The results show yellow bar more than red so this result means nothing to me. If red was high yeah.
  22. Did Zeus exist? Was there really a City called Atlantis? If yes then did the events of these Gods and Titans take place same time during the rule of 33 crore Devi/ Devte? And Ramayan? SGGS mentions about the Devi / Devte so we know for a fact they exist. Dassam Granth touches on Historical wars and the Mahabharat era etc. But Greek Gods?
