Bandgi
in GUPT FORUM
Any amount of bandgi we could ever do is no more significant than a young child running up to their parent at the end of school to show the painting they made. The painting is a few brush marks, nothing special. But still the parent praises their child and proudly hangs the painting on the fridge at home. Why? Because the painting was made with genuine love and innocence, even the child wanting to show their parent what they made was out of love. There was no ego of wanting to show themself to be the best artist.
A mahapurkh did bachan that the ultimate aim of human life is not reaching sachkhand. The ultimate aim is to achieve union of our Surat with Gur-Shabad. Like a person stuck down a hole thinking their aim is to reach the top. Yes and no. Yes that is the goal, but setting that goal does not actually get them out. Their job is to grab hold tightly of the rope thrown down to them and not let go. Pulling them to the top is the job of the person who came to rescue them.
While sachkhand is where we dream to go, the thing is, that place is so great beyond all comprehension or imagination. If we apply our logic of how to reach there we will definitely fall short and not make it. Your best guess of sachkhand won't even be 0.00000001% of how majestic or anand it actually is, for that's the place where all souls of the true bhagat, bhramgiani, sants even God himself reside.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj came to help us in kalyug by giving Shabad di daat. Our only real hope is to attach completely our Surat with the Gur-Shabad. There should be deep emotion, surrender and trust. It's the surrender of our Surat unto that Gur-Shabad which results in the soul embarking on Surat Di Yatra back home to sachkhand.
Gur-Shabad is ALIVE. It's magnetized in qualities of the Satguru. Ocean of compassion, unconditional love, destroyer of pain, everlasting peace, liberator of reincarnation and so much more. We just have to lose ourself in anand of meditating on the Gur-Shabad, the rest is his kirpa

Hey bro, by Vaheguru ji kirpa you are doing incredibly well. You received Amrit at young age, and from Sri Anandpur Sahib, wow that’s awesome! Amrit doesn’t ‘break’.
All young people are the same, kaam is strong at that age. As for feeling down, honestly every person in this world is miserable and down.
Life is harsh and unpredictable. Death doesn’t always come in old age it can come at any time. Daas is not from any Sikhi background at all. My younger brother passed when I was 9, that’s what started spiritual curiosity. Religion is a game, spiritually is something different. Maybe life has to be unduly cruel to show you deeper things.
The purpose of human life was to merge back with Vaheguru. Kulyug, maya, 5 vikaar are absolute snakes which wrapped themselves around people to distract them of that purpose. Bro Vaheguru expressed his love towards you by arranging you meet Satguru ji. Now you gotta take strength and fight. Your strength will come from gurbani, sangat, seva, simran, keertan, katha. Sikhi history will give strength too.
Guru Sahib Ji loves you so much, he sacrificed his chaar sahibzade for YOU. Focus on your relationship with Guru Sahib Ji. Love him back and trust him.

A few days ago daas read a thread about ridhi sidhi and there was a beautiful reply by dearest Veer Harsharan Ji where he referred to these beings as being reservoirs of Vaheguru ji's power.
It's a great way to describe it. You can see the full reply here

This was actually a private recording. It was a group of Sikh girls from Malaysia who were having a private singing session. This was some time around 1995. They have disbanded for sometime now
So cool to know, thanks! It’s a really beautiful recording

Do I just show up to the Gurdwara and say I have an addiction problem?
Please avoid this, you’ll bump into judgemental types who push you away from Sikhi.
Hanji go to the gurdwara and pray in front of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, that Guru Sahib ji please help me. Understand this much, your soul won’t find peace anywhere else. There is no other than Satguru ji who can liberate your soul.
Then take a seat in the sangat and reflect. Forget the situation for a moment. Vaheguru ji made his decision he would like to pull you back to him forever and for this purpose he arranged you have this mortal body and meet Satguru ji. It’s never too late, don’t feel bad about anything.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are the living guru. Daas would advise to start a sahej paath, where you read the entire Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It’s fine to use an app on your phone or online. Start with read 1 ang per day, but read translation too. This establishes your continuous daily conversation with Guru Sahib Ji. It will make a huge difference to your life. Personal experience daas would even call it magic. Whatever question or problems I have always seems to if by magic those answers come up in sahej paath.
Then Mool Mantar, simran, seva, read history of Sikhi etc. @SikhInTheMakingji can give you practical tips because he got through this, just like you will too
The punishment for drinking alcohol is molten metal poured down your throat in afterlife. Not to mention other hells your soul passes through. Why you want to drink that poison for? Make a RULE. If alcohol comes into your hand, without thinking pour it down the sink immediately! The best thing you could drink as a mortal on earth is beautiful and sweet Khande di phaul prepared by Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. Guru sahib ji tells us Singh panchan main hamro vasa. Work towards taking amrit di daat.

10 jame of Guru Sahib but we Sikhs were and still are a minority in Panjab, never mind the despotic state of India or the world.
Hanji daas was trying to hint towards Khalsa raj is not some type of Sikh empire over this earth, otherwise Guru Sahib ji would have created it himself. (rather it's a climax of the world being filled with papi souls, they all gonna fight and kill each other, only those doing naam simran will remain protected)
Satguru ji are the most supreme spiritual authority. All of us, our souls have so much burden of paap and remaining karams. Be it guru sahib ji or true mahapurkh, none of us are ready to receive what they want to give us.

Do you never think that such sentiments could play a part in preventing members of the panth going through the difficult task of preparing and organising themselves to contend with challenges and the practical responsibilities related to defence and raj brother?
Daas has a question. When Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji did joti jot they gave bachan ‘baba bakale’ (next guru sahiban are at Bakala sahib). But it would be 26 years before Sri Guru Tegh Bhadur Sahib Ji became pargat (guru sahib were in deep bhagati that period).
If you think about it it’s beyond crazy that why guru sahib ji were living gupat that long? Why not guru sahib ji could have made thousands or millions of sikhs in that time, or even established raj over India or the world?

Would you believe it! There’s a growing fashion trend in UK since last 10 years where teenage boys and young guys with kesh tie their hair back and wear a patka or african ‘durag’. They feel ashamed even to be seen with a joora on their heads.
Meanwhile in Punjab (from what I see via social media) it’s rare to see an older teenager wearing patka. By age 14 onwards boys are tying really beautiful dastar or dumala.

Any discussion on this topic would need to begin with discussing why your username is “Misterr” rather than “Mr”.
You might say ‘mr was already taken’. But serious point - that’s how some peculiar names/id’s come about. What the person wanted was not available, so they picked something else. Even as a bit of a joke, maybe an auto suggestion, then it sort of sticks with them in real life. The names you mention probably originate from gaming platforms

So daas had goosebumps reading the above. Baba ji jeevan is beautiful. Also found this photo, 1980s in Newcastle (baba ji in white chola). This is what baba ji must have looked like at time of the above encounter.

Sangat ji, daas found this post on Facebook. Please do take some time to read
Inspiring story of an encounter with Sant Mani Singh Ji who was aged 17 at the time and known as Resham Singh.
He was the first one we met who really inspired and helped us. In about Nov 1987, we were 18 at the time and knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about God, except that God was the True Love. Our punjabi was rubbish, we understood none of the GurBani, we knew none of the rituals or ceremonies except what we saw our mum do at home and at the gurdwara - which was very boring and strange as far as we could gather. However we had become broken hearted and all we thought at that time was to meet God we had to give our head and get initiated. We had just started living away from home for the first time and had become very sad and lonely and reading Japji paat slowly along with the meanings in our little room at Uni. We just took Sikhi Pahul (initiation) at a local Gurdwara understood absolutely nothing of what they said or told me to do, but just inside we said to God we give you our head now, now you take care of everything. A few weeks later we were on the bus. trying to get to the Cape Road gurdwara where we got initiated, but missed the stop and ended up at another Gurdwara in smethwick. On the way home we waited at the bus stop and Sant Mani Singh Ji was also there. At that time his name was still Resham Singh. He was dressed like a Nihang in blue uniform, blue turban and 3 foot long sword. We greeted him and to our surprise found he spoke in english and could answer all of our questions. We ended up spending the whole day with him, we loved being with him. He was one year younger but knew so much, was very kind and had so much faith - almost crazy faith. He was trying to get to a religious programme on the other side of Birmingham, but didnt exactly know how to get there.
So we took buses and ended up walking alot. He talked and walked right across the roads without even checking if cars were coming or not, with me frantically looking both ways. At times he paused to see which way to go, and we said lets just ask someone, he said that he only had faith in the Guru and didnt need to ask anyone. So we kept following him and got there eventually. He told us he had spent some time in 1984 with Sant Bhindrawale and now he was back he was required to go to college, but he had no interest or motivation for that. We had no interest or motivation in doing our university course either at that time, but our Dad used to motivate us that its important to work and raise a family etc like the Guru is. So we told these kind of things to Resham ji, but he wasn't interested at all in pursuing that kind of life - he was already well on his path. He was so strict, he would keep his turban on when going swimming, he did not care at all what people thought of him or said to him about how he looked - he was true to his guru that was all that mattered. He told us that the Nanaksar Gurdwara had young monks who stayed there permantly and they were trying to recruit him too - but he just wanted to do His simran. He would go there in the early hours to do simran and they would bug him, so he was going through all kinds of tests. We bumped into Him a few times with Gods grace over the next year. He told us a sad story about one of the Gursikhs who he treated as a father - he was murdered by his own family. The GurSikh was devout and even knew that he was going to die in that way. When the time came his son started arguing with him at the top of the staris and pushed him down. He died, the son and mother panicked and bundled his body in to the boot of the car to dump it in a field, but they got caught stopped on the side of the motorway. He ended up with the keys to the house. He was already well engrossed in the world of relgious people and groups and was already on the way of going beyond it.
We saw him once again briefly at a camp, he was a Sant, very confident, he knew what he was and had a completely different aura about him - that was around 1996. After reading his lifestory below we now realise he had become a true lover of God he had realised SatNaam. Here is a quote from below.
"Muslim Sufis invented ninety-nine names of God that are so beautiful, but why not a hundred?
Ninety-nine looks a bit incomplete. There is a certain reason the hundredth name is kept silent and that is the true name of God, which of course can't be uttered. That is why Guru Nanak said 'Satnam'. Your name is thee truth. But in reality you can't utter it because it will lose its' beauty. It remains un-uttered at the deepest core of the heart. What is God's true name? Nobody knows that all the names are man's creation. The true name of God is the existence that surrounds you." !We were so lucky to have been blessed with His sangat even for a blessed day at the beginning of his journey. Although we also remember him telling us that he had been a Sant in his last four lives as well. And when he had returned to India he had gone to people's houses who were past disciples and got copies of the photos of himself in those four lives. We think he died young in all those lives. We were also told that he knew he was going to die young in this life
Amazing soul, glad we crossed his path even for a day, we were so inspired to follow the path like he was 100%, full faith in Guru in even the smallest daily acts, no care for worldy money or job or status. But our destiny is our own, our path has taken longer, but he was already super blessed from past lives.
END
