  1. Like Noah and the Ark type of disaster? Well the 4 jugs can fit into our planets history but it won't be a while till science is able to prove the bigger cycles (mahavantra? or day of bramha...idk if my terminology is right yet)
  2. How would that fit in today's science? Is every cycle beginning with a big bang and civilization has to go through the same steps again? Has Ram Chander come up in every cycle?
  3. Exactly but what most Sikhs of the Abrahamic mindset believe is that it got distorted by Hindu influences. Wow! Amazing to see the similarities. Did it have a similar ik and then oora?
  4. https://www.sikhnet.com/news/ੴ-eikkao-proper-pronunciation What are everyone's thoughts on the article? Does anyone have any counterpoints? In my view the author is trying too hard to disassociate Sikhi from Indic philosophy. Article:
  5. Is there any way to determine the age/authenticity of these birs by the age of the material that the gurbani is written on?
  6. Here is Gyan Ratanawali in print and handwritten: https://www.sikhawareness.com/files/file/46-gian-ratanawali-bhai-mani-singh-ji/ I don't think an english version is available
  7. Would it be possible for Gatka and Shastar Vidhya to be combined together and to make it a unified Sikh martial art across the board? Gatka as stated before is more showy and can be used for conditioning. Shastar Vidhya can be used in hand to hand combat and ground fighting all the way up to confrontations involving Shastars.
  8. Tbh, I don't think we can know. He mentions that he records the meetings but I don't think he released them. Other people pointed out that he would mention writings to support his points but never sourced them. In the end, true or not, it's a pretty good page-turner.
  9. Maybe these masters are working with the most universal theme...on the most basic level, the message fits, however I'm sure that there would be some exceptions. The Mughals of that time obviously didn't follow the message of these masters as they were forcefully converting. In a Sikhi lens, we would resist because of the oppression that Mughals gave to the common people. In the end their message will obviously not be perfect, as we already have the perfect message. I would just take the most we can out of it and look for similarities to Sikhi.
  10. If I understood what u said correctly, you are asking why become a householder and live in this illusion when we can just meditate for our whole lives to get enlightenment... Why can't we be both? ? Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Aasaa - Ang 385 ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ One who recognizes You is recognized as a householder, and as a renunciate. Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Gujri - Ang Says Nanak, one who meets the Perfect Guru, is celebrated as a householder as well as a renunciate. ||4||4||5||
  11. Thank you! Will definitely look into these ? Is there any literature in English as well? ?
  12. Anyone else read this book? It's about a Psychiatrist who find out about past lives through treating a patient. Here is a pdf: https://www.sikhawareness.com/files/file/45-many-lives-many-masters/
  13. I know this topic has been addressed before (see here) but I was wondering if anyone has anymore knowledge to share about the 4 yugs. I was wondering how this would fit with modern day science. If anyone also has any videos or books on this subject, please share ? Bhul Chuk Maaf ?
  14. If it is that ancient than there would be less variety in races i think, the majority of ppl would be in Africa and some in India...
  15. Think I posted this in another thread as well but this book should give you some insights on Dasam Duar: http://discoversikhism.com/sikh_library/english/anhad_shabad_dasam_duar.html
  16. Modern day Gatka is more of an exhibitionist sport now, it is a lot more "showy". In the practical aspect, Shastar Vidya is used in hand to hand combat and incorporates a lot of ground fighting, which Gatka doesn't do as much.
  17. Very interesting I haven't heard this before. Is there anywhere to read more about this? Bhul Chuk Maaf ?
  18. I'm pretty sure that gatra came around the british rule... I think in the past, one would sleep with their hand around the kirpan or it at their side, that way they would be ready at a moment's notice. I know that Sikhs had shastars in dastaar but i don't know if they would have also had in while sleeping...
  19. Maybe this will help - https://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_gurus/guru_nanak_jagannath_puri.html
