  1. Ive had too many embarassing moments but the most recent one was when i was in a rush to get to a university interview and i just came out the train, the escalator was full therefore i tried running up the stairs really fast and i fell face first, the worst thing was the escalator was full and the people were all looking and i barely got up Mind you i fall quite often- clumsy me
  2. You got that right!!!!!!!!! Sikhs believe in one formless God and Hinduism believe in many Gods, now how can we be from the same religion, Hinduism is heavily based on the caste system whereas Sikhism rejects the caste system even though some Sikhs may practise it . We dont believe in idol worsip they do, we dont think a cow is any holier than a pig but they do. We dont believe in those meaningless rituals which Hinduism is full, a Hindu i know even admitted that. We have our own sacred text the Guru Granth Sahib which is remarkbly coherant with scientific facts. Sikhism preaches equality of women whereas in many parts of India Hindu girls are married off at an early age and some hindu women are even made to participate in sathi. Personally Hinduism doesnt really make alot of sense to me and the only thing i see that we have in commen is probably the fact that we both are dharmic religions and apart from that i would say we have more in commen with Islam. Ps: im not saying theres anything wrong with Hinduism, im just saying it doesnt make alot of sense to me
  3. OMG some people have no brains let alone respect. I went last year and there was a guy smoking, drinking and dancing, there were stupid people wearing jackets with the word 'jatt,' printed on the backs, personally i think the Sikh youth of today need to be educated on the great religion they are born into instead of just dancing around like banders. ok i just watched the whole video now and personally it looks like a blend of imported freshies and school drop outs and the camera man seems sharabi.
  4. Congrats tell your mom about the true beauty of Sikhi which is a religion for the unity of all mankind. Ps. Btw whats a Guru Ravidass Gurdwara since i thought all Gurdwaras are the same
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFv7gzXgLDs&search=dehli Just wanted to share the above link with you guys since its really touching :e:
  6. Keeping a turban doesnt make one a better Sikh for i know many Sikhs with turbans who take drugs and smoke(etc).
  7. Wow thats awesome i never knew they had a nagar kirtan in NY has anyone got anymore details about the NY nagar kirtan like the number of people who attended and the route of the nagar kirtan.
  8. I would like to know where exactly Sikhism stands on hunting and killing animals, keeping animals as pets, using animals for labour. Are there quotes from the Guru Granth Sahib ji available?? Much appreciated :TH:
  9. The nagar kirtan is hardly a very long walk therefore people should wait until they get to the final Gurdwara and then they should consume food. During the nagar kirtan people should be singing the hymns and showing they are proud to be Sikhs not walking and wandering 'what am i going to be served at the next stall.' Plus we get some weird people who take carrier bags with them and do their weekly shopping by taking dozens of crisps, drinks sweets, samosa and all sorts.
  10. The young sikhs are leaving behind meaningless tradition by the older sikhs and are finding out about true sikhi.

  13. OMFG this sounds exactly like a girl i know from school who knows it might her. Anyway Sikhism doesnt believe in caste therefore your either a Sikh or your not.
