  6. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_145...00600010001.htm Protests by Sikhs turn violent, police use lathi-charge Press Trust of India New Delhi, August 10, 2005 Demonstrations by Sikhs seeking punishment to the culprits of 1984 anti-Sikh riots continued in the Capital for the second day on Wednesday with police using lathi-charge to quell agitators near Parliament in which several persons were injured. The protestors from the Sikh resettlement colonies of Trilokpuri, Kalyanpuri, Tilak Vihar and Fatehnagar, including widows of those killed in 1984, gathered at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. As they started marching towards Parliament raising slogans against the Government, police stopped them upon which the protestors allegedly turned violent. They allegedly broke the windowpanes of a Police Control Room (PCR) van after which the police lathi-charged them. Several protestors were injured in the incident and atleast two were administered first-aid on the spot. However, a senior police officer said the policemen exercised restraint. Later, the protestors gathered outside the Parliament Street police station and burnt an effigy of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler and copies of the Action Taken Report on the Nanavati Commission's observations. They also tried to break the barricades after which police used water cannons on them. Alleging that the ATR was an "eye-wash", the protestors also demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

  10. My father was not in Dubai. He was dead AVIJIT GHOSH & CHIRDEEP BAGGA TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2005 01:28:24 AM ] NEW DELHI: Rashpal Singh never saw his father at home. But he didn't mind. Few kids his age at the resettlement flats in Garhi had seen their fathers. "My mother had told me he was working in Dubai," he says. "I thought all fathers stayed away from home." It was the <banned word filter activated> box that spilt the beans. When he was around 14, Rashpal was channel-surfing one day when he saw a report on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Then it struck him that something was amiss. "I confronted my mother," he says in halting tones, "and then she told me all that had happened." Now 20 years old, Rashpal was in his mother's womb when the killings took place. To him, as for many other kids who lost their parents, the riots were a mystery ā€” a story with gaps and absences that they have spent their lives piecing together. And that is not easy when mother works in office all day to eke out a modest living. Several kids who grew up in these flats dropped out of school. Some turned to alcohol, a few to drugs. The first feeling that swept through him when he learnt that his carpenter father was killed at his Shakarpur home along with his two brothers and grandfather, was anger. "I just wanted to be there to help him out," says Rashpal. "Even though I too might have been killed eventually." Time has passed since then. And while the bitterness remains, Rashpal is trying to put his life together. It is tough, though.

  12. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! just a quick reply to the above post: Satya Gyan: Satya: Truth. Gyan: Knowledge. (or wisdom as u previously quoted) Need i say more? I already wrote a para abt this earlier.... Godly forces work in everyone jio... not just you. They work both ways. I didn't doubt my action. I have been constantly saying the same thing. Simple. When the budhi is bibek, it has the gyan (knowledge or wisdom)) of the Good (or sach or truth). There is no duality. You see a rotten apple and a good one, you look at them and you know which one is good and you pick the good one. You are not in duality. Duality will be when half your mind says go for the rotten one, and half says pick the good one. When your budhi is bibek, it won't be difficult choosing between a satsang and a club. Because you know which is good. You won't spend time choosing where you want to go. And yes budhi does become bibek with kirpa. No doubts about that. Bhul chuk maaf karni. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!!
  13. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! To Balbir Singh: First the definition of the word bibek you provide changes in every post of yours. Which dictionary did you refer? Or you just got all the gyan... since you are already one with God (acc. to your theory)? Second the translations i provide are done by an ego filled person, and the ones you do are heavenly. As long as you are happy. Who said a person had to be busy with that? i didn't? I said budhi is bibek when a person KNOWS what is good. He doesnt have to be in the dubidha.... He recognises the jewel. He won't run after fikay padarath. Duality is when he doesn't know the difference. Bibek is far above the duality. I just hope you will look at other people's views with a cool mind rather than trying to thrust your views upon them. And do not mis-interpret what others say to make yourself look right. Bibek is not a small topic that can be discussed lke that. Satsang is not where you misinterpret ppl, and tell them they are in dubidha, and tell them they got ego. krhu ibbyku sMq jn BweI Koij ihrdY dyiK FMFolI ] Peace. 14. Wave of anger sweeps Sikh areas Tuesday August 9 2005 00:00 IST NEW DELHI: A wave of anger swept through several areas in west and south Delhi on Monday with survivors of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots demanding immediate action against Congress leaders whose names figure in the Nanavati Commission report. Upset at what was being beamed on televison and the bytes these leaders were handing out, angry residents of Tilak Vihar - where over 1,500 riot-affected families live - set up a roadblock on Monday afternoon. Shouting "Jagdish Tytler hai hai, Sajjan Kumar hai hai, H K L Bhagat hai hai", hundreds of angry residents - including many women whose husbands were killed in the carnage - took to the streets and staged a dharna in front of the Tilak Nagar police post. Tyres and dry branches were placed on the main road and set ablaze. "Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and Bhagat were very much there when the hoodlums were baying for our blood after Indira Gandhi's assassination. How can they be let free after having murdered so many people for no reason. If we do not get justice, there will be another riot. We will fight for justice," fumed Surjit Singh. The mob boarded two buses after this, heading to Tilak Nagar to stage another dharna. The atmosphere was charged at East of Kailash as well where riot victims vented their anger on the government and judiciary as also Sikh leaders. The overriding sentiment among survivors was that they had been let down by virtually everyone. Watching developments on television, Harpal Singh said: "Sab apni ullo seedhi karne pe lage hain (Everyone has their own fish to fry). It's their government, their leaders, even though we have a Sikh Prime Minister. And where are our own leaders? Not one Sikh leader visited this settlement of riot widows in the last 20 years although we hear they siphoned off our aid from foreign countries."

  16. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! So according to you, "Bibek is the capability to accept God's Hukum. " And you also say "Another dictionary meaning of Sanskrit word vivek is the truth of wisdom." And you say that the meaning i refered to is worldly, and the one you are refering to is the spiritual one, since "Gurbani words express the spiritual context " Alright.... first i would like to ask you how is bibek the capability to accept gods hukam? Which of the Gurbani tukks you mentioned suggests that meaning of bibek? And second, "Another dictionary meaning of Sanskrit word vivek is the truth of wisdom." Is it wisdom of truth or truth of wisdom? If it is the wisdom of truth, then isn't it the same as the ability to discriminate the good from the bad? The word "discriminate" is not to be taken as a negative word, since it is the ability to identify the good among the mixture of good and bad things. When we have the wisdom of truth, we have identified the truth from the mixture of truth and falsehood. That is bibek. Budhi is bibek when it can distinguish between the good and bad, true and false. The budhi can identify the truth when it is bibek. gurmuiK buFy kdy nwhI ijn@w AMqir suriq igAwnu ] gurumukh butae kudhae naahee jinuaa anthar surath giaan The Gurmukhs never grow old; within them is intuitive understanding and spiritual wisdom. sdw sdw hir gux rvih AMqir shj iDAwnu ] sudhaa sudhaa har gun ruvehi anthar sehuj dhiaan They chant the Praises of the Lord, forever and ever; deep within, they intuitively meditate on the Lord. I say how doesn't the defination fit here? It fits in perfectly! " They have the blissfull knowledge of God, and pain and pleasure are same to them. They have the gyan, there budhi is bibek. They know why they should not be sad when pain comes, and why shouldn't be too happy when they have Sukh. " Anand-bliss, bibek-discerning knowledge. They have identified the bliss. It is above the dukh and sukh. (lucky people they ) Naaa jio! they arent vanishing anywhere. Let us not see at the translation you provided. The Guru, the Giver of peace, has become merciful to me. I was blind - I see the jewel of the Lord. I have cut away the darkness of ignorance and become immaculate; my discriminationg intellect has blossomed forth. As the waves of water and the foam become water again, the Lord and His servant become One. The agyan has vanished, and the bibek budh can now identify the jewel!! Earlier it was blind and didnt know the difference. does bibek? means passes judgement. Boojai - understands, dekhai- sees, kreh bibek- passes the judgement. (identifies the truth ie has discriminating power) In this gurbani tukk, Two qualities of Guru are identified... bibek guru, guru samdarsi. The Guru is bibek, AND he is samdarsi. The Guru is wise and clear; the Guru looks upon all alike. Meeting with Him, doubt and skepticism are removed. you said "Bibayk is capability of recognizing Wisdom of God, His Hukum, His Oneness." It is the capability to recognise the truth. Recognise the good. To be able to diffrentiate, and identify the good things from a mixture of good and bad!! And what is that supposed to mean? Differentiate between me and God? i am a lowly mortal, and God is supereme. There is a vast difference right there. i hope your bibek budhi will be able to tell that. It is pretty obvious. Sorry for any mistakes that i made.. i haven't gone through the whole thing that i wrote. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! 20. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! Sorry i missed that portion earlier. The word Bibek comes from the sanskrit word Vivek which means reasoning or discrimination (of the good from the bad) Budhi is the intellect or intelligence. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!!
  21. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh Veerji!! Not all people on the forum are using fake names... I dont know about you jk See veerji since you don't know the people we are talking about.. i.e. the singhs at the gurdwara, it is not good to label them... like you said in an earlier post : "I do not feel mocking at a person who is already suffering and is missing God's Grace. These are persons whom our Gurus have also mentioned. These are Pandits (intellectuals), ritualists, Manmukhs engaged in Brahmanic activities etc. " All i am trying to say here is that do not label others as "Pandits (intellectuals), ritualists, Manmukhs engaged in Brahmanic activities etc " especially when you don't even know them. Yes this forum is being run by a particular group, and we do maintain special interests. The group is that of Sikhs, and the special interest is to spread Sikhi. Forgive me for my mistakes. And please take no offence. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!!
  22. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!! Are you sure you are not targeting anyone? @ anyone who we are talking about in this thread? I am asking this because your post does suggest that. Sorry if i am wrong. Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki Fateh!!
