  1. Ok, with regards to the pic of Sukhbir Badal's wife I understand what you say and agree mostly, however where i disagree is that if sikhs who are uneducated or not for that matter can influence in the way they may think, in terms of where their allegance may lie. I have not made a generalisation on all Sikhs, I used the word many, why is it that you have assumed this? So if a Sikh goes against the simple basic teachings then it is ok? The people who get on my nerves are those who are in the public limelight, their actions/behaviour does have an adverse affect on the community at large. As to your question, No I have not lived in Punjab and understand your point about the past and is very valid. I know this as a member of my family used to deal with human rights abuses taking place in punjab especially with those who are loyal to Khalistan. Again I advise you not to twist my words and say that my previous post was a generalisation and do not automatically assume that the next person does not have a clue about the plight of the Sikh people. We are both entitled to our opinions and respect that, so I do not wish this to turn into an ongoing discussion.
  2. The really amazing thing is that converts to Sikhism have a greater respect, love and understanding of the teachings as opposed to many who are raised in so called Sikh families. Maybe this could be the way forward, hopefully these kind of people can have a positive effect on those who are misguided or just plain thickies.
  3. Too many of the so called Sikhs In Punjab are messed up. I wouldn't be surprised if more of this <banned word filter activated> happens on a regular basis. I went to the panthic weekly link: http://www.panthic.org/gallery.php?id=2923...lgiri_Badal.jpg This is a prime example of what many sikhs do in Punjab as well as the uk. As it appears to be the case that you cannot get the hindu out of the Sikh. Many Sikhs in punjab are <admin-cut> who will sell their family for a few bucks or a bottle of whiskey, even marrying their daughters off to so called hindus for money. The ratio of Sikh men to Sikh women in punjab is a worrying issue indeed. What does the future hold in the motherland? These kind of hindu sikhs should be ex-communicated. Maybe these stupid sikhs think that if they integrate with hindus more then life will be sweeter, how wrong can they be? If we carry on at this rate, Sikhs will be outcasts in their own land. We need Khalistan , We need true Sikhs representing the Sikh nation to move forward. As for badal, rss and shiv sena
  4. The pictures are very upsetting. As for Akhoza's comments, well you are an <banned word filter activated>. Has it occoured you you that the topic starter may have spent time taking the pictures due to the fact that he cares about the situation. It funny that Akhoza mentions holy cow in his reply as he is a complete hindu lover and defends them all the time says that they are our brothers, may be his relatives like marrying hindus or something.
  5. Me thinks you are right PSK . Oh yeah by the way is that the same mr dokal that owns the cash and carry on Southall Broadway?
  6. It's slang innit! Yeah you are right sikhness it means isn't it. Comes from the so called cockney accent of East London, but for some bizarre reason it has caught on and is used by people living in other areas of the Uk. What a shame as I only speak the Queen's English innit. :D
  7. Can't believe what is being said???? So if a girl runs off with a non-sikh, abandons her family, causes them to go through pain, has a child, possibly converts, gets dumped, then wants to come home, because she has not got anywhere else to go. Drum roll please, The answer is just take her back, well done give yourselves a round of applause. This story, if true will allow others to take a chance on a non-sikh guy cause they know they can get away with it. The simple fact remains that too many sikh girls don't respect sikh men who keep their hair and find it aesthetically not nice to look at. Sikh women would rather be with hindu men who cut their hair. Don't believe it then take a glance at matrimonial sites and u will see for yourself. Come on open your eyes, Chandanjit kaur, I known ur young, but respect your views as you are intelligent, but how many sikh men run away to marry their non-sikh girlfriends???? The situation I have described is true for the UK at least. Also Sikh parents are stupid as telling their daughters that they will accept them having a relationship with a gora or hindu, but not anything else, the trend seems to be that more sikh women are marrying goray. Just take a look at the marraige certifcates issued in the UK and you will see for yourself. Yes I know there are many sikh women who have nothing but respect for sikhi, but this is happening more than before.
  8. It's a shame that the thousands of Sikhs that live in Southall and no doubt in other areas of the UK, don't take the values of Sikhi that seriously. Countless hindufied singhs walk into the mandir on Lady Margaret Road, they even do it while the Nagar Kirtan takes place for Vasakhi. One of the worst things is that I see so called Sikh parents taking their young children to the mandir. As the years have gone by the very same children go to the mandir more than they go to the gurdwara. This shows that these thicko parents don't truely believe in Sikhi. I've head a few gossip bags at the Gurdwara and they believe that it is good to the mandir, because you just don't know :D: . Anyways, when I see these kind of people going to the mandir, I say to them that the Gurdwara is only a few yards away in whatever direction as there are so many. Some give a dirty look back, some smile and some don't say anything. It's the best way to make them feel ashamed. So many misguided bibis(in particular) go to to see the pandits located in the house next to the mandir,WHY because they have powers of course!Yeah right. There are so many women who believe in them and use them to see whether their son or daughter is compatible for marraige on the basis of their stars, curing illness, blah blah you know the drill. They need to be slapped up.
  9. Only Gurbani parchaar on here not k a n j a r puna!
  10. Please could I have suggestions/tutorials on how to convert VHS recordings to mpeg/AVI format to play in a media player on the PC. I really need your help as I have nearly all the news clips that were shown in the UK on the BBC NEWS / Channel 4 etc, day by day footage, which was recorded by my family at the time of 84. There are many tapes/ hours of footage, which if people want i could show, if the sangat is interested. So, please could you tell me the appropriate software to use and how the connections are made to the PC from a VHS recorder. I feel that it is extremely important that I do this, as I have not found that much footage of the actual events on the net. I have not seen the footage myself, since I was only a few years old, but what I remember shocked me then and will be extremely difficult for myself to see again . Many people have forgotten 84 and the new generation, don't even know what happened, let alone care. I wish to raise awareness to the youth who know nothing as well as the elders who have forgotten. All replies woul be greatly appreciated.
  11. :HP: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO chandanjit kaur and bello_desi :HP: Well I thought some should say it! All the best to the both of you. :TH:
  12. I saw the video and I thought the protest was commendable. At least these guys are doing something. Here in the Uk, too many Sikhs watch this bollywood crap, which causes bad influence and portrait Sikh as idiots. Tell me, how can one go to a cinema and watch a film, where their existence and appearance is made a mockery of. Typical example, they will have some chumcha with a fake joora dancing in the backround making a twat of himself. This has got on my nerves for ages and I have always been upset that nothing has happened to counter this in the country where this is all happening. But, this shows that a few people are doing something. I thought the speakers were particularly good.
  13. Yeah this guy is a complete fake. Been proved many times. The documentary might have been the same one I saw a while back, pretty sure it came on Channel 5. When people are in a venerable situation i.e contract a terminal illness, they turn to such fraudsters, who are ready to pounce on them and rip them off for what they got. Just open a copy of Des Pardes and you will see loads of so called babas claiming that they can cure illness, bad luck etc. One of the funniest ones I've seen is an african type witch doctor who advertises in Des Pardes, who claims he can make people fall in love with you, by making some potion or something. He must be getting a lot of customers from the Punjabi community as he wouldn't advertise there then. I have also never understood, why Des Pardes, advertises such people. I know they make money from the ads, probably to help fund the running of the paper etc, but it's distorting and capitalising on our people. There was also a programme on Channel 5 a few years back which followed a group of people who went around the world exposing cults and babas who claimed that they could heal etc. They went to India and filmed a baba, where people were flocking to him and giving lots of money. They exposed him in front of his followers and forced the baba to admit he was a fake, which he did. They basically had I think if I remember correctly a dog (possibly some other animal), basically they injected it with a lethal poison which would kill the animal within a matter of minutes. Once injected they asked the baba to cure the animal. Obviously, he could not and the followers were dejected. It was sad to see that they had to go to such extremities to prove their point, but I believe the animal was going to die anyway, due to some disease. In India this has been a real problem for a long time now and is having an impact on Sikhs abroad. Apparently in Delhi, there is a group (forgotten the name) consisted of Sikhs who expose these fake babas, as it is becoming a real problem. Whether in doubt or not, believe in Guru Ji always.
