  5. FATEH. .... I may get laughed at for posting this here. Came home and mother tells me theres been a pigeon in the garden all day who cant fly. Had a look. Poor thing looks ok but cant seem to fly. When I have tried to get close poor thing just runs away. Surely he will get eaten by the cats or something else tonight. Called RSPCA who have passed the call to their field staff but were unsure if there would be anyone available tonight in London. Oh well - any suggestions are welcome. Fateh. . . . .

  8. ubject: Touching moment (Read till the END) (Dedicated to a wonderful feeling called-FRIENDSHIP) Year : 1975 Situation : Last day of school Arjun Singh and Pargat Singh are very close friends. The whole school talked about their friendship. They had been friends right from their kindergarten days. They have studied together, roamed around together, sat together in school, ate together. They both wanted to become Police officials and serve the country. But today was a day they always dreaded. It was their last day together. NOW SEE IMAGE 1 On their way back from School Arjun started talking Arjun : Bro! I am moving to a different city to study. I will miss you man Pargat: I will miss you too mate. But nothing can break our friendship.. We will at least meet once every year. Arjun: Yes that is a deal and they parted with tears in their eyes..... As time went by, both got busy with their work life. They kept their promise for two years and after that they moved on with their own lives and in the process Arjun lost his contact with Pargat. Time went by and both became Police Officers. Year: 2009 Venue: The Police station where Arjun works Tring... Tring... Arjun picks up the call and he gets a pleasant surprise... "Is this Arjun?" "Yes. Who is on the line?" " Bro. Its Pargat! I just found out that you are posted in this station" Tear drops welled up Arjun's eyes Arjun: Where are you? Pargat: I am standing outside the Police station. Come Out Arjun: Is it? I am coming right away. Arjun rushed out of the Police station and saw Pargat standing outside. They were seeing each other for the first time after thirty years. He wanted to go and hug his friend. But he could not hug his friend. It was a very touching moment for both of them : SCROLL……. SCROLL……. SCROLL……. Now See Image 2
  9. Fateh . . . I have tried datan from some desi stores; however these are generally of poor quality. Seems to be too old and dry etc. Waitrose sells Datan, and for ppl in London, Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nics sell them too. These are quite good quality and fairly reasonably priced too. I only get to do this on Sat / Sun and then brush my teeth afterwards. Your teeth will surely become strong after Datan. Fateh . . .
  10. Fateh .... On a light hearted note - got this yesterday (No Mr President.jpg) And then our own desi media reporting it. Who says we are not at par with any other world leading media organisations ;-) See attached
  11. Fateh . . . . Can we ignore my personal stance on this. I am just after getting answer to my question, which you lot have failed to answer: 1. What does putting a Tilak on Guru Granth Sahib ji signify. On one hand we worship Sri Guru Granth Sahib as our Guru - should we apply tilak to our Guru. The protocol is Rumala sahib. Why does our Sharda tries to break the norm protocol and we try to do other things beyond the given protocol. 2. Matha Tek to a person in Guru Ji's Hazoori to anyone else, is that viable? Should Sikhs start doing that in Guru Ji's Hazoori? Is this acceptable. Again my point is that there is a protocol (Rehat Maryada) - Doing the above are we going over the Rehat Maryada and stating that we know better? Pls dont slant me here and try to highjack the post (You can do that in a seperate post) but just answer my questions to the point.
  12. Fateh . . . Applying tilak to Guru Granth Sahib Ji doesnt do anything to speak..... What does it do then. Chaps dont bring tradition into this. We are sikhs, we have been taught to be out of the caste, creed, race, religion, and TRADITION. So if you are Kashi or Mathura, and a GurSikh, will it be ok to do the rest of the manmat traditions. And then if someone questioned, it will be ok cos it is just tradition. Will it ok to have Guru Granth Sahib and a statue next to it - cos traditionally you are in a part of world where idol worship is normal. Back to what does it do..... it takes you away from the payar and satkar, the protocol that Sikhs have been told to follow. Understand that we do Matha Tek due to Satkar. Ppl did try to do Matha Tek to many Mahapursh. But the real Mahapursh never allowed ppl to do Matha Tek to them. The love of the devotee is naive (pure) payar, but it is the duty of the MahaPursh to show the devotee the right path too. Can you answer this - is it ok for Mahapursh to be in Maharaj's huzuri and still allow ppl to Matha Tek to them. Should they not stop ppl from doing so? Is it Ok for Mahapurshs to allow ppl to make the rumala sahib touch the Mahapurshs feet and then submit the same Rumala to Guru Granth Sahib? Is it not the mahapursh's duty to correct the devottee if they do so. And dude pls dont listen to ppl. You are obv too much into chinese whispers (aka GOSSIP).
  13. Thanks for telling me my ignorance. I am happy to be convienced Pls tell me: 2. Guru Granth Sahib is our (mine) Supreme Lord. Whilst Guru Ji is in Parkash and we are in Hazoori of Guru Granth Sahib ji why should I Matha tek to someone else (again regardless of who that person should be). 2b. Did Sant Atar Singh ji or Sant Isher singh ji allowed anyone to do Matha Tek to them whilst in or outside the Hazoori of Guru Grant Sahib ji, So again a humble request to my dear friends here: I am thick: pls provide me with information on: I dont want an argument. I just want your personal opinion on: 1. What does putting a Tilak on Guru Granth Sahib ji does. What does it gain. What Shardha is it that you should do that. Why should one do that. 2. Matha Tek to a person in Guru Ji's Hazoori to anyone else, is that viable? Should Sikhs do that? Pls pls pls rather than highlighting my ignorance or my stupidity: Pls answer the above questions. BTW - And And And when did I ever mention sgpc. Where did that come from?
  14. Fateh . . . . Understand that there are ppl who are puran BrahamGayanis and have a lot of Kamai. Just a few pointers that I will like answers to: 1. At Hazoor sahib - the Tilak is done while Asa di // is being recited. The Shabad recited at the time when the Ardasia does the tilak is: Chandan Ka birha Bhala . . . . . oi Bhi Chandan hoye rehe. ..... . . Pls look at the meaning of this shabad at STTM and understand that just by putting a tilak on doesnt make us holier or any better. Now if you look at the Maryada of Hazoor Sahib when the doors are opened in the morning, the first thing that goes in is a BATA (bowl) of Sukha. Pls dont start saying that we should follow that too now. For the Tilak Maryada and the other points that happen at Hazoor sahib: Hazoor Sahib is in old Hindustan, and was under the control of Mahants for a long time who created their own Maryada. It really hasnt changed since those days. If we disregard the above, I want to know is that where does the Maryada of putting Tilak on Guru Sahib comes from. Why are you putting stains on the Guru ji's Bani. What is that achieving. You all seem to have a good grasp of English. Pls enlighten me WHAT DOES PUTTING TILAK ON GIVES. Dont bring any Braham Gayani or Kamai into this. Just simply explain; as a normal person: what does it gain. Both on a normal person and a Gursikh. 2. Guru Granth Sahib is our (mine) Supreme Lord. Whilst Guru Ji is in Parkash and we are in Hazoori of Guru Granth Sahib ji why should I Matha tek to someone else (again regardless of who that person should be). 2b. Did Sant Atar Singh ji or Sant Isher singh ji allowed anyone to do Matha Tek to them whilst in or outside the Hazoori of Guru Grant Sahib ji, You will find the ansewr is NO. And if someone tried they were pretty harsh to them. Listen to their own katha and you will find that out. So again a humble request to my dear friends here: I am thick: pls provide me with information on: I dont want an argument. Fateh . . . . . . .
  15. this is getting ridiculous. Dont these idiots have any sense. They all seem to mature, trying to portray themselves as Gursikhs. Do ppl not think <banned word filter activated> they are doing..... http://www.panthic.org/news/125/ARTICLE/5047/2009-06-12.html
  16. shocked to see that there is a replica Darbar Sahib created in Punjab. . . . Comments welcome.
  17. Fateh . .. .. I have been sent the following link which after reading made me feel quite sad. Firstly that our holiest of holiest place has been replicated and nothing has been done. http://***anti-sikh website not allowed***/mirrorfullpage....=06&pview=7 Secondly anger and resentment that including me why do we always cry when someone has done the deed. Our so called leaders and our so called socities have taken a back seat for centries, expecting the innocent people to pick things up. This has to stop. We need to unite (which seems impossible) and then ensure that we have a statement out in the general public with our identity. All these issues of Sikhs have been copied in a movie, a character bashing has happened, our relics have been replicated etc etc we only hear when things have been done. Why is that our so called STUPID leaders are asleep when these things happen. Fateh . . .
  18. WHY THE ENGLISH WORE RED COATS?! A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle, the French captured an English colonel. They took him to their headquarters, and the French general began to question him. Finally, as an afterthought, the French general asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?" In his bland English way, the officer informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is if they are shot the blood won't show, and the men they are leading won't panic. And that is why, from that day to this, all Pakistani Army officers wear brown pants.
  19. A lion, A bear, and a Pig are sitting around discussing how hard they each are. The lion says "when I roar the whole jungle shakes". The bear says "when I roar the whole jungle trembles" "so what" says the pig; "all i have to do is sneeze; and the whole world sh*ts itself" I know the obama one is a lot better ;-)

    Query

Fateh . . . . I did put a note in my original post requesting not to highjack this thread; I am glad I that this proves that SIKHS just dont listen (including me) and will try to prove our point where ever we can; regardless if it is the right place or not. My query was merely on finding facts on the historic basis; there seems to be evidence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Kharavan (Slippers) being in Kabba; over many years. There seems to be evidence that Kabba has been rebuilt over time. There also seems to be written evidence of this in many books and illustrations that Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Kharavan were / are in Kabba. However in my little research I have been unable to find any of the books or the illustrations. Many Katha Vachak also seem to provide relations to this; and also in general there is enough second hand information available from word of mouth. My mere reason for posting this question here was to see if the intellectual beings can relate some positive comments and may lead me to the right links - but alas not! May be if some one has access to the Biritish Library can shed some light on this. I will appreicate if you have solid links to any books (E.g. Nanak My Master); any ISBN Numbers; or if anyone has any such material; then appreciate if they can provide me links to it. On a seprate note; we are all individuals. We all have different habits, values, abilities. If someone has interest in Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Slippers then let it be. If someone is of a very high spiritual value then I respect them for it. Let people be what they are; as long as they are on the right track lets encourage them. If they are on the right track lets educate them and bring them to the right track. However with my little thought; If you love Bani - Gur Bani - then you will love the Guru's. And everything about them. Remeber the sakhi about Peer Budhu Shah. When Guru Gobind Singh ji asked him what do you want. He asked for Guru ji's hair from Guru Ji's Khanga (comb). Why did he do that. Apparently he could have asked for anything! Fateh . . . .
  23. Fateh . . . . Does anyone know what is the channel number for this on SKY TV? And will this also be available on FREEVIEW? Fateh . . .

    Divorce

Fateh.. Verr ji. Divorce is a break down of the civil marriage. Not the religious or the emotional. In Sikhism the Marriage is not a civil marriage - it is an Anand Karaj. a union of two souls; a marriage of bliss. In religion there is no divorce; wether be Christanity or Sikhism Even though there is no divorce religoulsy; in todays society divorce is reef. It is a very traumatic and highly emotional time for both parties. My little understanding is that our religion states that try try try again and if you dont success then take the appropriate action. In case of a divorce you are not fighting any external party, it is an internal party to fight with; which can be very difficult. But you have to be strong; and fight for your right. Be strong, recite a lot of bani, keep yourself well dicplined and you will see things change in the due time. Good luck and hope Guruji will help you along the path. Fateh. . . . .

    Query

Understand! Just did some further google-research on this: Have a look at: http://www.sikhsangat.com/lofiversion/index.php/t12625.html And mentions the same fact in the book: Nanak My Master. Once again: Any further information on this will be greatly appreciated. Fateh . . .
