  2. Dear Sangat Ji since opening the shop we have had many different types of people on buying items and most cases if they are not Sikh then refuse to sell them anything to do with 5 kakar. We have had a order from a none sikh of 1 x SIKH KIRPAN (7-8 inches) GOLD TINT WITH GATRA ,1 x Heavy Sarabloh Sikh Karra (7 Lines, Jharri). we responded with this e-mail The items that you have ordered is part of the Sikh faith, from your name we can tell that you do not follow the Sikh faith. The Kirpan & Karra is held in highest regard as these items form two of the 5 ks of Sikhism. Sikhishop has a duty to make sure that the any part of Sikhism is not abused and all the 5ks looked after correctly. Please advise why you would want a karra and kirpan, if you do not want to reply or want to cancel the order we will refund the full cost of the item and we close the account you hold. If you have any questions or comment please do not hesitate to contact us. They have now responded with this Only have just read your email as I thought it was simply a confirmation of order. Was going to send you an email as I was wondering where my order was. I am producing a photograph of a funeral scene in a Welsh Church Yard in which one of the congregation is a Sikh. I have also lived in the Punjab for many years [Working for the British Council] and am well aware of the religious sensitivities. As the actor playing the part is not actually a Sikh I wish to portray him as accurately as possible with all the visible signs of being a Sikh. I want to do rather more than simply stick a "turban" on his head which is what I always see when actors not being Sikhs play the part. I have tried to read as much as I can of Sikhism and encouraged the actor to do the same. I hope this answers your query. Please give us your wisdom, it is not about the money before any say that! Thank you.

  6. We need to take a positive step from this, we all have sisters, brothers, cousins etc that need to be sat down and spoke to about what REALY happens to converted women and men. Talk to your families.....let them know the truth and let them know about Sikhi. It is only lack of Education that affects us, if we take the time to speak to others with true pyar they will learn to look at Sikhi for themselves (trust us we have seen this done).
  7. This is very well made video and we loved it

  9. Dear Sangat Ji, this was on BBC website. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/6678795.stm Strike by Sikhs hits Indian state Many of the Sikh protesters have been armed Cities and towns across the northern Indian state of Punjab are shut in response to a general strike called by the Sikh community. Security forces have been deployed and businesses and schools are closed for the day amid fears of violence. Sikhs are demanding an apology from the leader of a religious sect who appeared in an advert dressed like one of the Sikh religion's most important figures. Sikh community leaders say it is an insult to their religion. Last week, thousands took to the streets. One man was shot dead in clashes that followed. Attempts to broker a settlement between the Sikhs and the sect have failed. Deserted Thousands of extra police and soldiers have been deployed across Punjab and the state's political leadership has said peace will be maintained at all costs. DSS supporters have come from various religions Streets in many Punjabi cities and towns are deserted. Thousands of machine-gun wielding soldiers are on alert and the anti-riot Rapid Action Force personnel have marched through some of the sensitive areas. In the state of Jammu, Sikhs have held protest demonstrations, burning effigies of the leader of the Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) religious sect. The DSS's leader has refused to apologise for appearing in an advertisement dressed like one of the figures most revered by Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh. The Sikhs called it blasphemy. Fearing possible violence by outraged Sikhs, security forces have erected barricades around the headquarters of the Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) religious sect in Sirsa town [in the neighbouring state of Haryana]. An estimated 20,000 DSS followers live on or near the campus. The sect also has many smaller campuses across Punjab. Appeal for calm Sikh leaders have demanded that all campuses where sect members live be closed within a week. The sect claims it has 20 million members worldwide and says it is not a religion but a humanitarian organisation caring for its devotees. Analysts say the DSS action has to be seen in the context of state elections held in Punjab in February when the sect leader issued a public appeal for people to vote for the Congress party. Religious sects have traditionally been subtle about their support for political parties - they have usually issued internal appeals asking their followers to vote for the political party of their choice. The trouble has been brewing for days Most Sikhs in Punjab support the state's governing party, Akali Dal. Some analysts say Sikh leaders, angry at the direct intervention by the DSS in the elections, seized the opportunity to whip up popular sentiments of their community against the sect. They say the latest conflict threatens to lead to a polarisation of the communities and the dispute could trigger widespread unrest. Although peace has prevailed in the state for the last decade or so, in the 1980s and the 1990s, Punjab was the site of a violent insurgency by Sikhs who desired an independent homeland. In 1984 Indian security forces killed many Sikh militants after they seized the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the Sikh religion's most important site. In revenge, Sikh soldiers shot dead Indira Gandhi, the then-prime minister. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, himself a Sikh, has called for calm.

  17. I do wish the same, however we all have to accept hukam and think & ask ourselves what I am doing here? 22. Gurbar Akaal Ji .....You crack me up!! That was great.....I was loving it can’t wait for the second part! Although the arguments are strong, you do have to remember when Vaheguru bless an individual that one person will have the strength to do un-limitless deeds. In most religions you will hear of amazing and sometime unbelievable acts of god through one person. Baba Deep Singh Ji was truly an amazing Sikh and his seva was his salvation. Within this life you can achieve the same grace given by vaheguru but most Sikhs like me are lost in Maya and this is the reason why most people will not believe the ithass of what happened on that day. One day I hope you meet some so spiritually connected they will show you a small ounce of the true power from vaheguru as they did me.
