  1. JSinghnz, as you must be aware, an amritdhari is not allowed to share jhoot with anyone but an amritdhari. I'll leave it to you to see where this is a problem with an amritdhari married to a non-amritdhari.

Prabh Kehan Malan Dhehan Lehan Gur Milae Aan Nehee Oupaao ||1|| Rehaao || Speaking of God, filth and pollution are burnt away; This comes by meeting with the Guru, and not by any other efforts. ||1||Pause|| ਤਟਨ ਖਟਨ ਜਟਨ ਹੋਮਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਡੰਡਧਾਰ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ Thattan Khattan Jattan Homan Naahee Ddanddadhhaar Suaao ||1|| Making pilgrimages to sacred rivers, observing the six rituals, wearing matted and tangled hair, performing fire sacrifices('Homan'/'havan') and carrying ceremonial walking sticks - none of these are of any use. ||1|| (ang 1305-1306) Understanding the fallacy of such rituals is one of the most basic, beginner principles of Sikhi. If we still place faith in such ideas we clearly have not progressed even minutely in the path Sikhi. Further information: http://www.searchsik...com/hind20.html
  8. Can someone please clarify whether Bhai Jagjit Singh advises peoples to carry out havans (Hindu fire rituals). thanks Edit: I came across Bhai Jagjit Singh's autobiography and found this, looks like Bhai Ji does promote havans; "Many families started holding havans (holy fire), lighting essence sticks and reciting 33 rosaries of Mool Mantra or reciting 25 Japji Sahibs each day" (Page 46).

  11. VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh Jeeo, Just a quick message from daas, I would just like to bring to the sangat's attention a facebook account by the name of 'Uttam Singh', the individual is claiming to be from East London and linking himself to Akhand Kirtani Jatha. The profile's current display picture is of a khanda. The link to the profile is- https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002915611576) This is NOT me. We have a small sangat in East London and there is no other Uttam Singh from this area who is associated with AKJ. Two months earlier on the website 'formspring.me' there was a childish individual (who I am presuming is the same person) also trying hard to impersonate me who was adding random Gursikhs and writing ridiculous (and obviously) false views in the name of AKJ. This person also used the name Uttam Singh, claimed to be from East London and stated that he is the moderator on Sikhsangat.com called 'Singhstah', which is in fact me. I very easily had the formspring owners close down the fake page. This new facebook profile seems to be trying to do the same thing although slightly more subtly. I would appreciate it if all sangat could be aware that the person behind this facebook profile is not me and does not represent my views and could decline adding but infact block or report this immature individual. I am not entirely sure if the timing of this latest prank is linked with me having just returned from Khalsa Camp (UK) and having met new sangat who I am just getting to know. I don't know what is in this odd person's head that they have decided to do this. Dhanvaad Ji.

  14. Excerpt from "In Search of the True Guru" (Roop Gobind Ka Raj Khalse Ka Sikka Sonne Ka)- Bhai Sahib Bhai Rama Singh Ji: Bhai Sahib has darshan of a Shaheed Singh who reveals much necessary information for the panth: "The Shaheed Singh said, "The whole country would suffer as a result of the cruelty at Amritsar. God's Will is all powerful: "No one knows the state of the Lord. The Yogis, the celibates, the austere penitents, and all sorts of clever people have failed. ||1|| Pause || In an instant, He changes the beggar into a king, and the king into a beggar. He fills what is empty, and empties what is full. Such are His ways. ||1||" (SGGS p. 537) "Punjab will suffer great losses. There is a dark cloud over Punjab because the Punjabis have not followed the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They have faltered from the path of truth and sided with falsehood. The harvest of sin will be first reaped by Punjab, then by the rest of India." Whosoever clashed with an avtaar (a divine person) was destroyed. For example, in Satyug(first part of the time span of this universe) the rakhshas (demons) clashed with Vishnu and were destroyed. In the age of Treta, the demon king Rawan clashed with Ram Chandar Ji and met his end. In the Duapar age, the Kaurav princes, led by Daryodhan waged an unjust war on the righteous Pandav brothers (who were backed by krishan Bhagwan) and the Kauravs were destroyed. The avtar (i.e. the symble of righteous conduct) of Kalyug is Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Tenth Light (of Guru Nanak Dev Ji), Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji proclaimed Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to be the Guru of all ages. The government of India clashed with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and its rule shall be destroyed, for truth is always victorious. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji has made it clear that: "Rehat (the prescribed Sikh way of life) is dear to me and not a Sikh." "Few have followed this injunction. The Sikhs have stopped rising early in the morning to recite Gurbani and they do not have full faith in their Guru. So many weaknesses have crept into the Sikhs that they have abandoned truth and prefer falsehood. They hate each other. They give up Amrit and drink alcohol. They have built Gurdwaras named after castes, they no longer live in harmony and have entered the rat race of wealth. Today the Sikhs follow anyone, while they should be following the guidance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji only. Khalsa means "pure"; Khalsa represents truth and Khalsa faith is the faith of truth. Until such time as a Sikh does not give up falsehood, does not keep rehat of the Guru, does not rise early in the morning and do simran and recite Bani, he is not qualified for self rule. Satguru Ji says in this Shabad:- "One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru, the True Guru, shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name. Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar. Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord. All sins, misdeeds and negativity shall be erased. Then, at the rising of the sun, he is to sing Gurbani; whether sitting down or standing up, he is to meditate on the Lord's Name. One who meditates on my Lord with every breath and every morself of food, that Gursikh becomes pleasing to the Guru's Mind. That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is kind and compassionate, upon that Gursikh, the Guru's Teachings are bestowed. Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of that Gursikh, who himself chants the Naam, and inspires others to chant it. ||2||" (SGGS p. 305)."
  15. Vaheguroo! It's today! We have a HUGE number signed up for the camp - but with maharaj's kirpa you can STILL come if not registered!!
  16. Its tomorrow! Don't miss out!! Be there at 9:30 AM! here is some simran to get you in the mood!
  17. Are you looking for a Gursikh, kesdhari girl yourself? In that case I would find it very surprising if the family was telling you to trim your beard.
  18. If we can't stick to panthic maryada how are we part of the panth? Panthic Maryada says Bibia can be in Panj Pyare. In regards to Srimaan Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa, I will lower my head in respect countless times, however at the same time Baba Jarnail Singh Ji nor any other human is not infallible, Guru Maharaj says: ਭੁਲਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ Bẖulaṇ anḏar sabẖ ko abẖul gurū karṯār. Everyone makes mistakes; only the Guru and the Creator are infallible. The Guru is in the roop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the Panth, and neither say that bibia cannot be in Panj Pyare. We can only follow the Guru above all. And in regards to your rehatnama quote, there are many different rehats which are universally accepted to apply to both singhs and kaurs, however only the word singh is used, but with the intent to apply to both. Khalsa Panth is known as Panth of Singhs however we know that that applies to both kaur and singh, the term 'Singh' can include Kaurs depending on the context, eg.rehatname. Difference does not mean inequality. Also this difference is biological, biology is not related to spirituality. This is why the updesh of Naam given by Satguru (and gursikhi as a whole) transcends all differences of class, caste, gender, etc.
  19. Bibia most certainly may take part in Panj Pyare Seva. Please refer to Article XXIII b of Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada: 'b. At the place where ambrosial baptism is to be administered, the holy Guru Granth Sahib should be installed and ceremonially opened. Also present should be six committed baptised Sikhs, one of whom should sit in attendance of the Guru Granth Sahib and the other five should be there to administer the ambrosial baptism. These six may even include Sikh women. All of them must have taken bath and washed their hair' http://sgpc.net/rehat_maryada/section_six.html There is no seva in Sikhi which a bibi cannot do.
  20. where are you from jeeo? get in contact with good sangat
  21. fantastic idea, should be coordinated by a higher body though (akal takhth), so that there is consistency in the parchar. on a grassroots level much of the parchar could be taken by university sikh societies.
  22. Bump! Please give a ring to one of the numbers on the poster to get your name down, or send me a private message! :D
