Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! My guess is that it would be to prevent multiple posts, especially automated posting and spam onto the forums (if you have to type in a new code everytime, only those with a real question will take their time to do it). Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  2. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! He must be a pretty bad doctor if he needs money from his bride hahaha. What a loser. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  3. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! lol, seems that would have been the obvious way haha Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  4. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! oooorrrrr you COULD just: In winXP: right click desktop, and click properties, go to the Desktop tab, and deselect the Recycle Bin Icon from there IN winVista: right click desktop, click "personalize"... on the left there is a link for "change desktop icons" and select/deselect whatever you want hahah Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  5. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! hahahahha... sorry, I had to get that out Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  6. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I've been giving mine to the people who need it the most: homeless people in your cities, child poverty and starvation in africa... they need the money much more than any granthi. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  7. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Well I would agree with the original post... things ARE very different now than they used to be, especially for the treatment of animals. I personally have kinda gone half way to being vegan, I drink soy milk (the Silk brand I find is the best), fortified orange juice (with Vit D and Calcium) as a way to replace my liquid milk intake. And for the sake of argument, I don't think Degh HAS to be made with Milk derived Ghee... the common sense aspect of sikhi allows u to make a substitution especially in moral/ethical areas like this. And also, though its true Soy does have estrogen-like molecules, you obviously haven't heard how much estrogen and antibiotics are present in "real" milk... they are injected with gigantic amounts for the sake of increasing their milk and bulk production. Its one of the hypothesized reasons why females are hitting puberty at age 7-9 nowdays when a few decades back it was in the 16-18 range. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  8. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Simple solution: switch to SGGSjee tablet PCs Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  9. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! lol!!! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  10. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I agree w/ S1ngh... this isn't news. Remember no one is born a sikh... and if they don't want to be a sikh, we have no right to force them or even tell them otherwise. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  11. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! The original poster is just being honest, and there is nothing wrong with that... he found a gursikh who he was compatable with, both together aimed to put their sikhi first, took amrit, and its his parents that are trying to stop his promise and his ardaas to marry the one who worked hard with him to achieve that goal. As to what "physically close" means, i doubt any of us know... we all have different definitions and so arguing about that is pointless. The issue is: do you listen to what you think is right, or default to your parents? I think anyone who remember Guru Nanak also remembers him actively choosing to do "the right thing" over what his own father told him to do (eg: the thread ceremony) because he knew that an honest, principle based life is more valuable than arbitrarily listening to your parents if they're wrong. Veerjee, my advice for you is try to maintain ur level of sikhi, help her maintain her level also. When you think the time is right, get married. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  12. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I'd beg to say that there are an excess of HUMANS out here... currently we have reached a point where we cannot sustainably maintain our population. Not saying whether this applies to dogs or not, but if we don't apply it to ourselves, why limit their reproductive ability? Food for thought  Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  13. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Bro, maybe you should read the posts... might get you to understand that science and religion are two sides to the same coin. Cause otherwise you'd be saying the SGGS is wrong! Sikhi tells us what happened... science tells us HOW. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  14. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Effectively, its the theory that fits with the current science on the subject. SGGS jee explains that the big bang occurred, except where in science we would call it "energy" (as in all the energy concentrated up, exploded, began to form matter over time), we call it "God". (ps: note that sikhi says that God is energy? coincidence? ) Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  15. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Hey Simran although taking a graduate program in Sikh studies is pretty admirable, I think you've got the downside... besides academia and teaching, there really aren't any "outside university" job opportunities specific for Sikh Studies. If you were able to generalize a little bit, maybe go into the sociology of sikhs, or something along those lines, you may be able to cross into other areas which may offer more opportunities. As for programs, the only one I am aware of is at UBC... I know at least one person that was able to complete a masters in sikh studies from there. Good luck! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! 16. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Happy birthday bro! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  17. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Unfortunately, not everyone is open minded, and there are those that try to impose their faith on others. I have lots of muslim, hindu, christian, buddhist, jewish, and athiest friends, and so long as they can respect my right to choose my own religion, I'm fine with them. From the way it sounds, your friend may have pushed beyond that... and that is not acceptable. Hopefully what you've said will make her realize and continue being your friend without imposing, but if not, its not acceptable. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Amrit

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! It is NOT mandatory, because according to the panthic rehat maryadha approved by Akal Thakt, it is NOT required. That said, you may want to, and your panj pyarai may or may not mention it (so you should talk to them first to see what they say). Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  19. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! It works fine. Only thing is that when you install and the FIRST time you actually run the program, you need to run it in administrator mode (right click the icon and click "run as administrator"). Doing that, it works perfectly fine! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  20. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! arts/music/design? nope! First year med at univ of calgary for me! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  21. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I've been thinking about this for a while, and honestly, I don't think the SGGS is an answer machine... its supposed to take many many years of thorough research and meditation in order to understand the true meaning of the granth, and you can't summarize that as a yes or no answer randomly by picking a page. The other point that was brought up above is that its rare that anything is life is truly a yes or no answer. There are always shades of grey that you must consider, even if that means sitting back and thinking for a while. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  22. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! This is a topic after my own heart!! I've been blabbin a little on my blog about this, but its great to have this PDF!! Thanks sooo much jeeo! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  23. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! If its an old ball mouse, its probably because the mouse insides are dirty, causing the ball to stick and then jump. Open up the bottom of the mouse (Just give the little circle a turn until it pops off), and take out the ball. Clean up the ball with a wet cloth (and then dry), and also dust out and get rid of the gunk on the inside of the mouse (there should be 3 little wheels). If you are using an optical mouse, there is a good chance its because you are using a reflective surface. The downside of optical mice is that if there is any kind of reflection, it messes up the camera and can cause it to jump. Just put something under the mouse (like a newspaper, or better a mousepad). 24. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! So.. umm.... what are the features of this desktop? Cause from the screenshot, it looks like a basic desktop with the word Khalsa added before everything. I'm sure this has lots of potential, but what DOES it do? Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  25. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Just ask. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
