  1. http://khojee.wordpress.com/2009/12/08/tandahi-nutritional-support/ There is the kind of energy in the body, that, once it's gone it's gone, and it can never be recovered. There is other energy that can be healed. so it depends on the extremes of a person's indulgence. but generally i say why not?
  2. Sorry for the delay. I always respond to messages but I don't log in very often these days. http://www.searchgurbani.com/guru_granth_sahib/ang/456/line/20643
  3. repetitive persistent thoughts regarding natural urges are normal, not ocd. but if you feel that it is that bad try using bach flower remedies. google them and ocd. this has no harmful side effects and can be used in conjunction with Bani and any therapy that you might be undergoing. it will cause no interactions with drugs. I think white chestnut and crab apple would be a huge help to you. They are very cheap, and quite frankly, after suffering so much you have nothing to lose. Additionally, read this: http://www.healthboards.com/boards/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/599396-dont-give-up-natural-remedies-helped-me.html
  4. read the Gallant Defender written by AR Darshi. Darshi was a HINDU judge. If Bhindrenwale really was a killer of hindus, then an educated, well connected Hindu wouldn't have risked his career to portray him as a hero in this book examining 1984. It's available online, do a google search.
  5. karma is not given to you by the guru, it is something that you create for your self through repeated actions in this life and from past lives. you can improve your karma through seva, simran, and sadhsangat. a good organisation system helps a lot. i find that if the first thing i do in the day is good productive work, it sets the tone for the day to be productive. but if i check email first, or facebook etc, then its an uphill battle. there are also shabads that you can recite that will help get rid of laziness.
  6. eggs are meat, whether they are fertilised or not. we are not allowed to eat it in our dharm. it is part of a category of food that we cannot consume. simple as that. i remember someone once asked this question to gyani thakur singh ji and he just cracked up. the mind makes up a lot of justifications to get what it wants. don't let your mind manipulate you like that. as for milk, milk makes animals grow big. eggs, however, ARE the animal in an early stage of development. even if there is cruelty to dairy cows, i don't think you would get as much negative karma from drinking that milk as you would get from eating eggs, b/c they are different categories of food. just like sharaab can be consumed, no animals are killed to make it, but consuming that category of food/drink will create a fair bit of bad karam.
  7. the stances of buddhist differ depending on sect. some believe that only soul exists while others are nastik and some do believe in god. in gurmat, the teaching is that the soul exists, is perceived as separate from god due to haumai, but is actually a part of god.
  8. But do you accept the maryada of the mahapurkhs and the nihang dals, ie. the rest of the panth? Because they don't allow the removal of facial hair for bibiyan either. Actually, she mentioned on reddit that she had received treatment for a hormonal imbalance while in high school. So there is no right wing mindset at work here. The hormonal imbalance was corrected, however the facial hair remained. Being a Gursikh and not wishing to commit a bajjar kurhait, she opted to keep the kesh instead of following the weak minded worldly people. I respect that greatly.
  9. i read this too late but for future reference the best resources are usually human rights organisations in india and sikh legal organisations in the west. just google punjab human rights watch and you should find some.
  10. veer, it will pass with time. that's the thing with emotion, it is never permanent. i would suggest regularly (everyday if possible) going into sangat and sitting down and listening to the katha / kirtan. don't worry about what's going on around you. the energy will help boost you up. other than that, you can do a brain dump and write down everything that's bothering you. you don't need to act on all of this right away, just to write it down helps take a load off of the brain. than pick some things to work on this week, and try to get started on them, one step at a time. What do you want in life? A goal can help with motivation. I also was feeling very flat for a long time until I started teaching a somewhat challenging Gurmat class. Seva (thinking of others rather than thinking of my own problems) really helps me improve my mood. Also, if you need help, go get some help, there is no harm in that. there are also many things you can do to boost your mood, including the following: regular exercise, particularly yoga/martial arts/aerobic exercise, healthy food, supplements like omega 3 fatty acids, and use of flower remedies like mustard flower remedy or gorse flower remedy. I highly recommend you read Ultrawellness by Dr. Mark Hyman, as he provides natural methods to help improve moods. Here's his blog http://drhyman.com/. Let me know if you need anything.
  11. Sidh Ghost bani, it's in Guru Granth Sahib ji.
  12. if you take haldhi, make sure it's pure. the haldhi that's in open bins at grocery stores has some sort of chemical added to it. we can tell b/c the colour of pure haldhi is a beautiful deep orange and it also doesn't taste bad. the stuff in the bins tastes horrific and has an off colour. you can get pure haldhi, ground up from the roots right in front of your eyes in india. highly recommended.
  13. yes it does. the interplay of karma and wisdom hugely affect what you get out of life. think of karma as opportunity and wisdom as the ability to see that opportunity and know what to do with that opportunity.
  14. http://www.osho.com/library/online-library-nanak-granth-master-12ef2c4c-8b5.aspx if it still doesn't work try using a different browser. he says that guru granth sahib ji is just a book, not alive. he just doesn't understand. basically he is saying a religion is dead once its masters leave, that you need a live master. which shows he is either unaware or unwilling to admit the existence of numerous pooran sants in our dharm. even if someone doesn't get the concept of guru granth sahib ji, someone from hindu background should at least understand the concept of a sant. i think he probably said what he said to make himself appear bigger.
  15. you could keep a notepad nearby and if you can't let go of the thoughts, just write them down and then back to the simran.
  16. like i said, he didn't get sikhi: http://www.osho.com/library/online-library-nanak-granth-master-12ef2c4c-8b5.aspx still some very enlightened veechars from him. great methods of explaining dharm to people.
  17. their kamai helps. but remember, the punj are not the guru, they are the Guru's ROOP (form). By remembering this we see that there is no contradiction.
  18. i'm not doing kintu, just wondering where you heard this?
  19. when i came into sikhi i was alone for a long time b/c i had no sikh friends from my pre-sikhi life and there were no sikhs in any of my classes. now, i have the opportunity to do seva at a gurdwara where i can meet many singhs. i feel that the years when i was alone were preparing me, making me stronger so that i could stand loneliness. the truth is that bhagti marag is a lone path, nobody walks it with you except your Guru. my advice is, instead of focusing on find friends, focus on doing seva and building up your jeevan. if you volunteer at either sikh or non-sikh organisations, you may meet other people. but if meeting people isn't your main focus this will help take the pressure off. build yourself up for your job and jeevan, this will probably make you much happier and stronger in the long run. channel that loneliness into meeting maharaj.
  20. Osho was very gifted with the ability to explain such subtle concepts in a way that made sense to the average person. He also attained a very high degree of awareness. However, he didn't understand Guru Nanak or Sikhi. In his description of various prophets, he stated that Guru Nanak believed in sargun bhagti only. The truth is that Guru ji taught a method to take us from sargun to nirgun. This shows that his understanding and level of study of the Sikh dharm was quite limited. Still, his insights are inspiring, but be cautioned.
  21. I don't think that that is very accomodating considering the fact that Sikhs have given absolutely huge sacrifices for the british and have been repeatedly stabbed in the back by them. these people actually **DO** owe us and there is no reason to comprimise our dharm for them.
  22. humans have enzymes specifically designed to digest protein. just b/c they are designed to digest protein doesn't mean that it's for meat protein, there are proteins in vegetables too. Gorillas are herbivorous and also have canines.
  23. if there is a real need for what you are saying, then it is not nindya but a warning. look in your heart to know if your intentions are pure.
