"As part of our plan to provide support and guidance (http://www.slideshare.net/NSYF/free-bhullar-initiative) for the Sikh community in the UK, the NSYF has created material to support the global campaign to free Professor Devinderpal Singh Bhullar. Our purpose is to support and empower the protestors with the facts so together we can make a greater impact by communicating a consistent message to the greater public.

We believe that everyone has the right to express their opinion and make positive efforts for the advancement of the Sikh Nation.

In furtherance of our goal of education NSYF has created an infographic that provides all the information about the Bhullar case in one image. Please feel free to share this image. The NSYF will be printing 10,000 leaflets featuring this image for distribution at the London protest. We will also be offering and in-depth analysis essay via our website and social media."

There are major exhibitions of the Jewish Holocaust in most major cities in the world; the Jewish Holocaust exhibition in the Imperial War Museum reportedly cost £5,000,000.00

As you are well aware there is no such exhibition of the Sikh Holocaust. You have the chance to invest in a modest but impressive exhibition which will be used annually to educate the public about the Sikh Genocide.

All donors will be accredited at the exhibition, unless they expressly ask for their donation to be kept anoynmous. All surplus funds will be used to develop this exhibition for the future and for related Sikh historical projects.

The National Sikh Youth Federation (NSYF)

The NSYF was set up in late April this year, and our ambition is to provide and promote education on Sikh history. We are focusing on Sikh history relating to the Sikhs after Guru Gobind Singh ji, as we believe this history is not currently taught sufficiently. While Gurdwaras teach about Sikh history relating to the Gurus, there are few organisations or institutions which educate on Sikh history.

We aim to bring awareness and educate in a professional and academic manner. Our first major project was in June this year, wherewe commemorated the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib with a ‘#10DaysofTerror’ campaign which included all types of media including social media. Our # campaign on twitter was supported by Sikhs worldwide and as a result reached hundreds of thousands of people.

We also produced 5000 information packs, which were presented in a striking folder, and included various fact sheets (please seeimages).

The NSYF have submitted an application with the Charities Commission, and we expect to be registered within 4-6 weeks. All members and officers of the organisation are volunteers.

  5. To be fair Gurmukho, the problem is that this "gupt seva" thats apparently happening, is on too much a small scale, and on an individual level to be effective.

Regarding the Taksaal and AKJ yes there may be individual Gursikhs doing sevam, but these jathebandis as Jathebandis need to address the huge issues in Punjab until it is too late, never in Sikh history, more recently or from the start have issues like this been deal with by a handful of singhs, but instead the Sikh leaders rallied the sangat.

My question is why have the Nishkam Seva Jatha departed from openly condemning the human rights violations (which continue today), and why have they stopped voicing their opinion against the injustices against the Sikhs re constitutional issues.

  6. Fateh ji,

Not necessarily Khalistan (but implied support is more than evident through the literature I referenced to) but all the Sikh grievances such as water, greater autonomy, discrimination etc are detailed, and correct me if I am wrong but I have not of recent years heard the Jatha dealing with these pertinent issues. I thought that they just were never active and were anti-movement, simply as I had not ever heard anything re this period of Sikh history. Then I came across this mag which made me more confused and curious at the U turn.

After putting this post up a knowledgeable Gursikh message me this

"Basically Baba Pooran Singh was 100% pro-movement & Sant Jee. Then in the times of Baba Naurgang Singh - they wanted to start the seva of putting Gold back on Sri Darbar Sahib & what they did was to politically distance themselves from previous work so as to be able to get a foot into doing seva in India. So they made a political sacrifice which I don't personally agree with, when this mag was printed & distributed they went & told the Indian High Commission that they categrorically had nothing to do with it - this was during the current leadership of Bhai Mohinder Singh (Giani Amolak Singh was alive at the time - but they had their own internal politics & he was more of a figurehead than someone who made the decisions)."

  7. Extracts from interview with Bibi Bimal Kaur, Shaheed Beant Singh’s wife (published in Vangaar 1993):

Did you know that Bhai Beant Singh was going to assassinate Indira Gandhi?

No. He did not divulge this information with me. However looking back in hindsight, all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together. After the attack in June 84, as all Sikh at that time, we were all hurt, shocked and confused by the actions of the government.

Sardar ji took leave from work and we visited Sri Harmandir Sahib. The extent of the devastation, the number of innocent Sikhs killed and atrocities committed was incomprehensible; it shook Sardar ji (Bibi ji referred to Bhai Beant Singh as Sardar ji throughout interview) to his core. He felt that it was done to suppress the Sikhs. He spent hours walking the Parkarima, through the blood soaked rubble, trying to absorb what happened that day.

He was inspired and in awe of the defence put up by the handful of Sikh Freedom Fighters who fought to protect the sanctity of Sri Harmandir Sahib, and also evacuate as many pilgrims as possible. Inspired by how they stood up against oppression, later on when he became more religious, I would always note his voice tremble during his Ardaas, when he would come to the reference to the Shaheeds “Jehna ne Sikhi layee kurbanitaan dittiyaan” (blessed are those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the survival of Sikhi).

The earliest and most significant clue as to his later actions and intentions was when at Sri Harmandir Sahib, he randomly stated “I want to become a Shaheed”. I asked him what would happen to our children, the youngest of whom was two at the time. He responded “what about the young children that were made Shaheed here, what about the children that lost their parents here, they will have to manage, and so would our kids”. He didn’t say much else, and I didn’t take it serious, for after all people say a lot in grief.

    Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh

Bhai Kehar Singh was a very spiritual and religious man. The two had a lot of affection for each other. During the last few months he would go and see Bhai Kehar Singh a lot, and he would frequent our house regularly. I later learnt that one day when they went to the Gurdwara to listen to keertan, a prominent Keertani had performed keertan in Bairaag (deep and emotional mood), and had done Katha (sermon) about the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib. Sardar ji broke down in tears, then Bhai Kehar Singh turned to him and said “Singh Soorme (warriors) do not cry, they fight oppression to get justice”.

He had a very strong role in getting Sardar ji prepared spiritually for the mission he had chosen to undertake.

    Bhai Satwant Singh

Bhai Satwant Singh was a very young and sincere man. It is highly commendable that at a young age (early 20’s) he took full responsibility and issued a statement as to why the actions had to be carried out.

He and Sardar ji were very close and he would come over to our house every other day, they would spend most of their time in deep and serious conversations. I later learned that Sardar ji and Bhai Satwant Singh had been trying to assassinate Indira Gandhi since August and that there had been many attempts which were unsuccessful.

    Leading up to the assassination

From June 1984 he was never the same again. His thoughts and actions became slowly more religious. He started to wear his Kachera again, go more regularly to the Gurughar, and keep company with more religious people like Bhai Kehar Singh.

One day he came from work and said that a Baaj (Falcon) was seen circling the Prime Ministers quarters and settled on a tall tree. All the security staff were amazed and even bowed to it in reverence, even when one started a motorcycle to see if it would be frightened; it stayed; only later flying off. I said to him that he never believed in such things before, but he didn’t reply.

(The tenth master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was referred to as ‘Chittay baaja wala”, the keeper of the white falcon. From time to time a white baaj is seen in the mountains of the Himalayas in the surrounding areas of Hemkund Sahib where Guru Gobind Singh ji performed much meditation. After the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib, many saw a white baaj, seen by many it circled and perched on a branch, Sikhs took this as a sign that the Guru was with them.)

Around September 1984 (just under a month before his Shaheedi), he would go to the Gurdwara every day, he became disinterested with worldly affairs and became very sincere and passionate in his Sikhi.

One day he came home and said “I am going to take Amrit”. I was surprised by this and said that how come he didn’t discuss it like we usually discussed things. His reply was “you know how I used to drink with my friends before, and sometimes I would drink a bit too much, you used to get angry”. I thought to myself well at least he won’t drink again and was pleased.

(On 24th October 1984, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh took Amrit at a Gurdwara in Delhi.)

Your opinion on the assassination, and the Sikh Freedom Movement

When a tyrant is born, his killer is also brought into this world. Sardar ji was not coerced, neither did he act in a moment of madness. Instead he bettered himself religiously; believing that by becoming a more spiritual Gursikh he would be gifted the Seva (boon) of following his Guru's Hukam (teachings) by standing up against oppression, and delivering justice for thousands of Sikhs who were killed, and for the desecration of Sri Harmandir Sahib.

I'm very proud of being his wife, the government can say what they want, because at the time of Shaheed Bhagat Singh he was treated as a terrorist by his own government. They did not support him then, but today there are statues of him all across India, and government ministers queue up to adorn him with garlands of flowers.

I believe everyone in Punjab should join together and join the movement. The Indian government is an oppressive regime, despite what is said in its constitution, false imprisonment, torture and illegal killings are rife. The Sikh freedom movement is for greater financial, religious, social, cultural and political freedom for all Punjabis. The Congress government has amended the constitution 65 times yet it cannot change it once to acknowledge the Sikhs as a separate religion. They want us to stop our movement and compromise, but they do not wish to change, they do not wish to deal with the root issues, our grievances.

  8. common propaganda which has been force fed to the masses since 84, our people were either ignorant or too shy to challenge these unfounded allegations, yes few maybe even 150 -200 hindus were killed by various groups (black cats, sikhs, etc) but that was over the 25 years nothing near what is alleged i.e thousands

Good to see Sikh youth today opposing false allegations

  9. Most of khalsitani in the west are against core sikh values. They are kala afghana chelas.Everyone knows who created kala afghana yet these khalsitanis fail to realize that. They are worse enemies of sikhi. People like hansra, aulakh, dal khalsa etc. should be exposed.

You need to be more careful with your words Singh, I know 50 Khalistanis off the top of my head and none are against core Sikh values

  10. I disagree we must remember and have regard for

The Sahibzades Shaheedian but for me it's an incident which fills

me with great pride. There are so many Mahaan Shaheeds that everyday in the year is most likely to

be blessed with a Shaheedi, shall we remain somber all year or should we remain in Chardi Kala

  11. I don't agree with the defence that he is not representing sikhi but is just a Sikh rapper.

one adopts the image of a Sikh voluntarily, and great responsibilities come with it. Everyone knows that.

If you listen to his songs, without the video, it is quite plain to see that he is a very average MC, and the only reason he has got popular is off the back of the Punjabi Sikhs, it's a gimmick that he has tried to cash in on.

Also as he has a long flowing beard, and a round Dastaar his actions and speech carries even more responsibility then for example RDB.

Sehajdari Sikhs will look at humble, and think what he says and does is okay for a Sikh.

  12. What type of parchaar do you expect if you exploit the granthi? those that are criticising would you quit your £20k+ job to do the granthis job?

    didnt think so

Personally I think we should have fully qualified parcharaks who are both trained in terms of Santhiya etc and also degree level religious study and then pay them handsomely, I mean we have Naujawaans like Bhai Manvir Singh, wouldnt it be great if he could do parchaar full time 9-5

  13. I would normally agree with the majority about leaving this fool alone, as he is ignorant, and blah blah blah

but actually I disagree, I dont think we should attack him, but we should out this cowardly backstabbing sell out he really is, i dont mind people with anti opinions cus its usually down to ignorance and lack of parchaar from our side, but in this scenario i have a feeling he knows very well what he is doing, and does it to achieve maximum exposure (which is annoying), furthermore he makes a living mainly thanks to the punjabi community, and they should know what he is really about.

While the world and his cousin were praising sangat tv, this fool tweeted he is gonna report them to ofcom for "preaching" about Sikhi as they had mentioned the principles of the faith which explained why sikhs were out on the streets.

  15. Tell your friend to explain this then (monks burning themselves to death in protest of war without moving):

I was to see that sight again, but once was enough. Flames were coming from a human being; his body was slowly withering and shriveling up, his head blackening and charring. In the air was the smell of burning human flesh; human beings burn surprisingly quickly. Behind me I could hear the sobbing of the Vietnamese who were now gathering. I was too shocked to cry, too confused to take notes or ask questions, too bewildered to even think... As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around him
