  1. Sadh Sangat jee Please can members verify recent news that there will be a wedding taking place tomorrow at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Swindon of a Nigerian non-Sikh? Any other information would also help from local sangat. Thanks
  2. What are you expecting people to say? Give you ageya and say you have our blessings to go confess you fancy him and he will get down on one knee? You're 18, he's amrtidhari, you are bound by your parents until they find you a guy to marry. You're looking for those idiots on this website who give the liberal view and tell you there's nothing wrong with your feelings, it's normal, tell him how you feel, he might feel the same etc etc, it's all bullsh*t. you need to fix up and wait until your parents find you a husband - end of.
  3. This is such a non-issue but I will respond anyway. Dasvandh is 10% of what you have EARNT. You haven't earnt your loan, you were given it on the premise you will pay it back (plus interest). Short answer is NO. Long answer is also NO. However, you must take out dasvandh of that which you have earnt or given without any requirement to pay back e.g. birthday money or when you go to your Bibi's house and she's so happy to see you she drops you a ton etc
  4. Yes. You have to ge pesh for this sin and the Panj will normally give you amrit again with a tankhaa. This is the case with all if the Jathas - Taksal, Soho Rd or AKs
  5. LOLLLLL Are you gay as your screen name is Singh Soorma but you like a guy?? If so, you can't marry.
  6. VjkKhalsa Vjkfateh In the coming weeks a formal announcement should be made to confirm whether Sikhi Camp 2012 will be going ahead. It's not true that there is going to be a Sevadaar only camp. It's likely that if Camp is on this year then it will be on a smaller scale to ones in past years but nothing has been confirmed/decided.

  11. Dear Sangat Jee Please see below for details of a first by way of events. “PARENTING: THE SIKHI WAY” Sharing Good Practice Saturday 21st May 2011 1.00pm – 6.00pm Venue: West Midlands For most parents life is a daily struggle to balance work and family commitments, whilst at the same time trying to practice and learn more about Sikhi. With the frantic pace of modern life it is becoming increasingly difficult to find the time to juggle everything. Whether amritdhari or not, most of us will have asked ourselves: “are we bringing up our kids the right way?” “what should we be teaching them about Sikhi?” “where can we take them to learn more about Sikhi?” “how can we make time to do more as a family?” None of us are experts, and none of us have all the answers. This event is an opportunity to share ideas, approaches and experiences with other like minded Sikh parents. We aim to: - reflect upon the values at the core of family life, - compile a ‘mission statement’ for the family, - draw up an ‘action plan’ to integrate Sikhi into the family’s daily routine, - share practical tips on how to make the family more Sikhi focussed If you are interested in attending please go to www.boss-uk.org and submit your application on-line. Places are strictly limited so it will be first come first served. We would strongly encourage both parents to attend in order to get the most out of the day for your family. If you cannot make alternative childminding arrangements, we can look after children over the age of 4 at the venue whilst you participate in the event.

  14. Is there any Sikhs on this forum from Chicago or anyone else who can help? I wanted to know what the security check is for basketball games with regard to kirpans; particularly the United Center in Chicago (home of the Chicago Bulls)
  15. No broadcasting or airing our weaknesses as a panth and discussing them to find a solution No 'Panth Time' with old men telling the rest of the world how grateful they are to the channel that they got their 15 minutes of fame No 'guests' discussing serious issues that they don't know anything about e.g. 1984 No presenters that host Gurmat programmes that can't even speak Panjabi or pronounce the word Gurdwara No adverts with old committee members telling you to watch their exciting discussion programme The other suggestions from the Sangat have been great, please try to take them on board where feasible.
  16. Saadh Sangat jee, could you all make an effort with regards to this matter please. Also, please check through the letter and correct the dates if necessary e.g. where the letter says "The Press Release attached has been issued today" (it was issued on 8 March - yesterday)
  17. ^Its because you're a <banned word filter activated>.
  18. Some BNP policies are ok and they mention the Sikhs quite a lot. they dislike the fact that halal is stamped everywhere on food, they hate that britain is becoming islamified and they mention that sikhs are fed up of it too.. i think we should strike a deal with them. we vote for them, they get us Khalistan and we'll leave! LOL
  19. If this is the case then well done SC. You have demonstrated that the Channel belongs to the Sikh Community and you are willing to action the hukam of the Sangat. Thank you.
  20. Sikh Channel could you clarify the above statement? Have Naamdhari's been banned from merely appearing in the camera shot (in which case they would still be in the studio sitting alongside that ‘Professor’) or have they been banned from coming full stop. If it’s the latter then I would say well done for finally resolving this issue. However, if it’s a case of not putting them in the shot but they would still be there; then that is not good enough. As the SIKH Channel it is your obligation to uphold Gurmat principles. Allowing people who follow a Dehdaari, self-proclaimed Guru to do kirtan in the studio is not acceptable. I hope you will clarify your stance on this issue as it has gone on for long enough now and the Sangat deserve an explanation.
  21. Sikhi Camp 2009 bump the bump of the bump to the bump bump bump.
