It was not banned but some people "sought" to ban it. Like subhash cander bose...people never accepted that he died. Same is the case with people whos hero is rajiv gandhi. Though I liked the article...but can u post the REAL source. I mean not a sikh website. Guru of sikhs is SGGS ji however there are whole lot traditions associated with sikhism which doesn't make any sense to 'atheists'. I know many atheists whose questions are hard to answer regarding sikhism as they are not ready to have faith without a ture experience.

^^ I think milk is a good resource and can be used for human consumption......use of chaur sahib and palki, i think, is a different topic. I questioned this tradition at my local gurudwara in India....people told me that I should not question if I am sikh....I was like okay... However, i saw a lot of flies (makhiyan) stickin to the nishan sahib after we washed it with kachhi lassi. I thought we just wated milk.

How can there be love if the two individuals hardly know each other? It's almost like an extended blind date to me. Keep in mind, I am talking about people who have never met each other face to face until the wedding ceremony. Doesn't love take time to cultivate? I believe people who are only truly in love should marry, shouldn't they? Not because some matchmaker set you up. I dont know if we are on same plane. "Cultivation time" is not a requiement for "Love". I very well beleive in love at first sight. There were many saints who fell in love with their guru at the very first sight. Love is so vast that we cannot define it in terms of circumstances. It is highly debatable that love exists in so called "love" marriages....where people spend loads of time together. Do you agree? Love is not conditional. Love doesn't require compromises. Love (and devotion) is so powerful and forceful that it can perform miracles.

Then love in an arranged marriage is sometimes forced, right? I'd be interested in knowing the divorce rate in arranged marriages. Love CANNOT be forced. Do you think that "forced love" is love? Absense of love doesn't mean divorce. In societies where arranged marriage exists, divorce is a tabbo.....that may one of the reason for lesser divorce rate. I know women personally whose husbands use to drink and hit them....but they never filed for divorce. Love in arranged marriage exist but its not forced. Its natural.

It is very natural and humanly to fall in love. That is the beauty of love. Love has to be natural. One canot force love.

Can you cite source of ur information? I think guru ji had many muslim followers too....I dont beleive guru can make such generalization abt a religion.

You need to have the knowledge to engage in critical thinking. What sometimes happens on here is akin to a first grader trying to understand and criticise an essay on quantum mechanics. Without faith, there is no Sikhi. I agree with you, however, there is a difference between faith and blind faith. Questioning is a good habit but reaching at premature conclusions can be dangerous. We should not call names, demean and stop these questions We should answer them with faith and determination.

Can sombdy cite a reference stating that bulle shah actually said the above quote? I read works on baba bulle shah and never came accross such statement. It will be really nice to know the actual source.

But why? thats what the original poster asking. isn't it? But people still confuse us with muslims. right? Also other religion show signs. I can easily identify muslims and jew. I think they are also proud of their religion. Right? Thats right!! That makes perfect sense. I had many friends who thought hair obstructs them from few normal activities. For example eating food. Mucchha keep on coming in the way. They had to wash and dry hair every week (extra task). They had to put extra work to keep hair tidy and neat....and couple other things. That exactly can be said about nails, isn't it? Thats again not a very good argument as it can be used for nails also. Right? In my view you can only do what your conscience lets you. At some point your conscience will question what you do. My dad is a shop fitter and never had any issues doing doing off licence or butchers or take aways. But one day his conscience kicked in and as a Sikh he no longer felt right about accepting those kind of jobs. At first he lost a lot of trade but with Maharaj’s kirpa he got a contract with a photo/copy shop franchise which compensated for all the income we thought he lost. Your conscience is still your's. Your peers, environment and other factors contributes to your conscience. It not something God given, as it vary from individual to indivdual. Right?

Okay ...I have few questions: Is it okay to work in a restaurant who serves meat? Is it okay to be owner of that restaurant? Is it okay to work for a government who build bombs to kill innocents? Also, Jains use to think about these issues a lot therefore they are all in very safe profession, trading. Also, is it okay to buy stuff from those who use that money to promote anti-sikhi activities?

Sikhi is path of love. Only love can keep ur sikhi alive. I would agree if you say budding lover need role models.....but people deviod of love will find sikhi really hard to follow. No matter how hard you think you cannot decipher even iota of what guru ji would "think". Guru resides on a very different plane, you will always be in awe.....its near immpossible to read guru ji mind. I think we shouldn't "be" like guru ji...but we should try to follow what guru ji says.Rest all is His hukam and kirpa. Thhanvaad

WJKK WJKF Veer ji. I kind of disagree with you on the above mentioned points. You are saying Bau ji is stressing more on "freedom" and making us devoid of rituals. Then you are equating "rituals" with "rehit maryada". do you think rehit maryada are rituals? Do you follow them as rituals? I think this is not inline with your argument. Sun,moon etc. do not follow "rituals", they go with the flow. They are "free" and deviod of "rituals". I think (not sure) they follow the hukam not "rituals". I think aim of human soul is to meet infinity. Do you think "boundaries" can help you meet with the "boundless"? Sikhi was not made harder by guru ji to make it an exclusive path. Sikhi is harder because the aim of sikhi is set the soul free(i.e. hukam of waheguru), which is indeed the toughest task.

So waheguru is not ALWAYS keshdhari in sargun saroop....its one of the many forms. Right?

On one side we say Akal Purakh has no shape or color or creed. On other hand, we say Akal purakh has long hair. How is that possible? Can you please elaborate? Mahraaj is using a metaphore to describe Vaheguroo Ji's form, IF Vaheguroo Ji had one. The essence we need to take from this is, for Guru Ji, if Vaheguroo Ji had a form, it would be the most beautiful form ever known to him...this beautiful form includes Kes. The essence is Guru Ji equates true external beauty with Kes Guru ji very well knew that God has no form. Why would Guru ji even think of God having a form which is exact opposite to reality.

I think "darshan" doesn't mean that God has to take a form. "Darshan" is something beyond that. When Bhagat Naam dev ji said: Sab Gobind hai Sab Gobind hai....that is something like darshan.
