  1. Gurfateh, Last year, i had to undertake a back operation for an abscess around the armpit area due to hair follicles going into my skin and creating pus which led to incision and drainage. After my operation i was required to have dressing every day, this meant that a plaster was put against my skin to keep the padding in place to prevent it from falling off The following week i went to take Amrit at the local gurughar. This dressing carried on for about 2 weeks and it was only until seeing my plaster that i realised hair was being removed unintentionally with the plaster once the doctor was removing my dressing and replacing it with a new one. You could compare it with hair being removed if you had a plaster on your knee, elbow, arm or foot. I want to know if i have committed a bujjhair kureit in anyway? As far as i know, the removal of hair is a bujjhar kurheit, however the removal itself wasn't done on purpose to get rid of an area, it just came off onto the plaster when it was removed against my skin. There was no other way of keeping my dressing intact otherwise this would have caused another infection and a further operation which may have led to having hair around my armpit area actually being removed purposely. Thank you, apologies for the long post.

    Peshi

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fateh! When one goes to peshi in front of panj pyarai at an amrit sanchaar, is it just you and the panj or are all abhilaakhis taking amrit/peshi present? What is usual the conduct for AKJ amrit sanchaars in UK and Canada?
  4. I think there shoukd be a list of upcoming ones, maybe make this thread a sticky or whatever. But keep commenting on ones that are happening. This thread may just give some1 the right info at the right time. Ill begin! 27th June @ Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick @ 9.30am (Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Jis Barsi)
  5. VJKK VJKF Sangat ji, I took amrit when I was 15 and have since done kurehits - sexual relationship, drugs, alcohol and cigarettes a few years ago. Got my Sikhi back in line and connected with the Guru 4/5 years ago and the time has come for me to retake amrit as I am so much stronger now and in my early 30s to do so and keep rehit (I was in a weak and low point in life at uni when this all started) What do I say to the Panj Payre at the Amrit Sanchar? I tie a dhumalla - they put Amrit in Kesh so open top parna without boongah on the day? Need help especially by people that have gone pesh. Thank you all. VJKK VJKF.

    Next Amrit Sanchar

Wjkk Wjkf When are the dates for the next Amrit Sanchar at the Gurdwara on Soho Road? I heard it was every 4 weeks but can anyone clarify? Wjkk Wjkf
  7. Greetings, I'm a british Sikh living in the states and want to come back into Sikhi. I plan on doing this when I return home to the UK. My question is I know I am going to have to tell my short commings to the Panj but I am wondering in Taksal maryada do you do your confession alone with the Panj or are all the others wanting to take amrit or do pesh in the same room as well? Second question. Does Taksal use larrivar saroop? Lastly, after amrit is made does only one or two Panj bestow the amrit ie face, eyes and head or do each do it once for every person. From what I read in Taksal maryada it seems as if its one or two people and not all 5. Please note I'm not wanting to start a debate on which group does what better. I just have these questions. If someone who has taken amrit at a function held by Taksal and could answer I'd very much appreciate it. Oh before I forget where in UK is Taksal Gurdwara? Guru Har Rai Gurdwara in West Brom? :read:

    Amritshak?

WJKK WJKF Hi so I'm currently in med school and I should be finishing in September 2015, i'm not going to practice picking up the degree and my parents know this part and there ok with my decision. So as being in med school I have been being more and more intrigued into sikhi and was wondering if someone can start guiding me how to start preparing for amrit of course this will take time as I want to be certain I can live that lifestyle. I mean Like to be honest I don't know punjabi or gurmukhi all to well that's one of my main issue I feel more comfortable in english but I'm willing to learn gurmukhi. I hope a singh or a kaur can guide me and put me on the right path.Hopefully like have daily talks so if I have any questions they can answer it. I'm 22 years old and I feel like its just a calling for me and just that I need help who can practically be my teacher, and if someone does respond to my message I will gladly private message them.

    Importance Of Amrit In Sikhi

WJKK WJKF I am planning to take amrit sometime before December of this year. I am just curious in sikhi why is amrit so important? If we believe god dwells in everyone’s heart equally what makes it special to take amrit and be baptized? Can’t I keep with my nitnem and seva without taking amrit, will this take me to sachkand as well? I know the importance of the Khalsa and the reasons why guru ji created amrit, but I want to know why we should take it as a must at some point in our life. My other question is – Is our guru and god forgiving if we break amrit? Just looking for some clarification Sorry if this has been asked before. Guru ang sang

    Pesh

I was wondering where did the concept of Pesh come from did Guru Gobind Singh Ji ever mention it or was the concept made by GurSIkhs?
  14. So basically, I've recently taken Amrit two days ago away from my family and there finding it so hard to accept what I've done. Making me feel quite guilty about it. I don't regret the taking of Amrit but I may have rushed the decision when thinking about wearing the Dastaar. I understand its a huge huge step, but I feel like it's making me fall into a state where I don't want to leave my room, because I'm being judged. Although I should feel proud, I don't think I'm ready to wear the Dastaar, dishonouring Waheguru I fully understand. But it's knocking me down quite a bit; any suggestions or advice from anyone would be good please. WJKK WJKF.
  15. So basically, with Maharaj ji's Kirpa I will finally be blessed with Amrit next week and honestly I can't wait I'm just so so excited. Thing is, I don't know how to do my dastar on that day considering the panj piaarae put Amrit in ur kesh as well. I don't want to do a joora I want to do my dastar I just don't know how to tie it so they can still put Amrit in my kesh. Any ideas? Please help.
  16. Can you explain to me what happens to the souls that don't take Amrit after 1699?
  17. WJKK WJKF, I am 14 years old, trying to become a real Sikh. I just wanted to know how other Gursikhs spend their day on Sikhi, such as the time they wake up and the banis they do and when they sleep and everything that happens in your day. I just wanted to see if I can model it. Please also provide the times, so that I know how much time it takes for each part of the schedule. Bul Chuk Maaf Kareo. Thank you very much.

    Attaining Naam?

wjkk wjkf ive heard that you can only do bhagti and recieve the gurmanter after taking amrit, and bhagti can only ever start after taking amrit, i have taken amrit but i have broken it, but i still follow rehat, keep my punj kakar, do my nitnem, read gurbani and do naam japna and everything and im planning on going pesh as soon as i can but i will have to wait until i leave home (long story) my question is has my bhahti started and have i attained the gurmanter or did i lose that when i broke my amrit? waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  19. My question is little bit inadequate, I don't have the tendency to ask such a big question. Shouldn't there be only one place to take amrit ?, I mean only one group of Panj Pyaare as our GURU not anyone from the crowd. But only five Brahmgyani's from the whole world should have the right to do amrit ceremony. As we see at Kalgidhar Patshah's time only Five did the ceremony for thousands. And they were real sikhs. Not just from outside, I mean they were enlightened. What are your views?
  20. wjk wjkf can non amrit dharis do naam jap and recieve the same benifits as an amrit dhari? or do you have to take amrit? im not saying this because i dont wanna take amrit, im just saying is, me doing naam japna before taking amrit a 'waste' ? and if not can you become jot vich jot wiothout taking amrit?-just curious wjkk wjkf
  21. wjkk wjkf just wondering if someone could summarise main points of the rehat mariyada which i should be aware of, planning to take amrit soon wjkk wjkf
