  1. I clicked these pics is December 2021. Found this right on the side of the main inner entrance at Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. Seems to be a picture of a Yogi. Looks totally out of place and suspicious. Would be grateful if anybody who knows the "why", "how", and "when" of this, could share their knowledge. Thanks!

  3. When i last went to darbar sahib few years back I was confused to why names of indian army sikh soldiers were on the walls. I've been wondering for a few years and tried to find information about this but haven't been unable to so far. Does anyone know what kinda writings is on these walls? and why the names of soldiers are there? I personally find it disrespectful and inappropriate to have the names of Sikh soldiers who fought for non-sikh indian or british india colonialist regimes at our holiest site.

  5. Justin Trudeau has been snubbed by the senior members of the Modi BJP Government. In fact this stretches to not just the Political Party but also to the Indian Media. No senior officials have welcomed or accompanied Trudeau during his tour of Gujarat or Agra. Amritsar on the other hand has shown great hospitality to Trudeau with the SGPC, Akali Dal and Congress senior Politicians all eagerly greeting him and his family to the city and Darbar Sahib. The treatments of Trudeau is all very public and the questions of ‘Khalistan’ and the Canadian stance on the subject is all over the news now. Even Captain Arminder couldn’t resist bringing up the subject in his brief meeting at the Taj hotel today. He also had the nerve to accuse Canadian Sikhs of financing militancy in Punjab and directing targeted assassinations. Modi is scheduled to meet Justin Trudeau during the week and we can all expect to hear the same sound bites. Will Sikhs in Canada be sacrificed for trade between the two countries and what will Justin Trudeau make of his trip to India?
  6. I dont want to hurt my Family. I was married to an man, but i dont love him. I am in love with someone else. But I dont want to hurt my family by telling them that I want to divorce. Thats why I thought i want to go to Darbar Sahib and stay there for a while. I will tell my Family that i am going to another country for a job. Is this correct? Is it ppossible to stay at Darbar Sahibb?
  7. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh I would like to walk from ludhiana to darbar sahib which is roughly 142 kms and want to finish the yatra in a few days. How can i prepare for such a long walk? I still have a month to prepare as i am going in mid November. My route would be from ludhiana to jalhandar, jalhandar to amritsar. Trying to do this in two days. I could also do ludhiana to jalhandar, jalhandar to goindwal sahib, and goindwal sahib to anritsar. These could be my possible routes.
  8. DID The SAS kill at Amritsar? Foreign Office hastily recalls files 'detailing UK role' in notorious Indian army crackdown on Sikhs Papers released by Whitehall this summer have been recalled amid fears they contain details of UK military assistance to India at Amritsar in 1984 Note was found by a researcher working at the Kew Archives Sikh Federation has called for a second investigation into UK involvement By Rebecca Taylor For Mailonline Published: 09:56, 4 November 2016 | Updated: 08:03, 5 November 2016 Prime Ministers of Indira Gandhi of India and Margaret Thatcher of Britain shown here at Delhi Airport in 1981 Dozens of files were pulled from the National Archives amid fears they detail British involvement in the Indian Army's attack on Amritsar in 1984. Papers were released from Whitehall to the National Archives this summer but recalled abruptly after the Sikh Federation wrote to Boris Johnson to tell him they had found 'delicate information' relating to 'UK military assistance to India'. A note, seen by the MailOnline, found by a researcher reportedly referred to the possibility of SAS involvement after 'an Indian request for military assistance in the setting up of a National Guard for internal security duties'. The note was written by a civil servant in the Foreign Office's South Asia department in July, 1984, and was copied to Ministry of Defence official and the high commissioner in Delhi. Hundreds of people were killed on June 6, 1984 when Indian troops stormed the Golden Temple at Amritsar, which was being held by a Sikh group. The three-day siege saw the Indian Army storm the Golden Temple to flush out the group and arrest Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale a Sikh leader and his followers. The Golden Temple in Amritsar India. In 1984 it was the scene of an assault by the Indian Army as they sought to flush out Sikh separatists As a result, Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards following the bloodbath. Nearly 3,000 people were subsequently killed in retaliatory riots against the Sikhs. In 2014, it was revealed that Britain may have had a role in Operation Blue Star, which sent shockwaves through India and the Sikh community. A review called for by David Cameron was criticised as having too narrow a scope, and concluded that the UK provided expert military advice after an urgent request from the Indian Intelligence Co-Coordinator. Margaret Thatcher with Indira Ghandi in the early 1980s. The Sikh Federation claims there is growing evidence of Thatcher's involvement with the Indian government before Operation Blue Star After the discovery of the 'delicate information' in the archives, human rights lawyers have written to the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on behalf of the Sikh Federation asking for another review. The call comes shortly before Prime Minister Theresa May's diplomatic visit to India next week. A statement released on the Sikh Federation's Twitter said: 'On the eve of her critical trade visit to India, she [Mrs May] is being pressured to come clean about the role played by the SAS in the Sikh genocide in the 1980s. 'There is increasing evidence that Margaret Thatcher's administration worked more closely with the Indian government than was known at the time. 'Vital new documents have been removed from the National Archives. 'There should be a full, independent investigation into these matters.' A government spokesman for the Foreign Office said: 'The FCO borrowed some of their files from 1984 that were released to the National Archives so they could read the content following concerns raised by the Sikh Federation. They will return all the files in full shortly. 'The issue of SAS advice prior to Operation Blue Star was dealt with in the 2014 report by the Cabinet Secretary. These files contain nothing about this incident.' ================================== http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3904460/DID-SAS-kill-Amritsar-Foreign-Office-hastily-recalls-files-detailing-UK-role-notorious-Indian-army-crackdown-Sikhs.html
  9. Was browsing Google Earth this morning and was surprised to see their cameras have been inside not only the whole parkarma but the Darbar as well. Actually amazing, it's the closest you'll get to having Darshan from home! Usually when I go, the paid Sevadars stop me and others from taking photos which is understandable as it can break the concentration of the Sangat and it prevents some professionals making money from publishing the pics. Strangely Google have been allowed to film inside during the Ardaas. Wonder if they slipped a few rupees to Badal beforehand..
  10. I just wanted to enquire whether there was any meanings or reasons for the designs (mosaics) we see around the parikarma of Darbar Sanib? I believe one is called the flower of life? Or Any other historical Gurdwaray in India. Who chose them?
  11. My guess? A staged event. Badals will likely blame their political opposition for this. http://zeenews.india.com/news/punjab/gun-shot-fired-at-golden-temple-from-outside_1845171.html
  12. Anyone who gets to do Darshan of Darbar Sahib in person or through telecast will notice that there is no Sangat. Compared to normal, it's like there's no Sangat. The parkarma is practically empty. Military is positioned all around Darbar Sahib and throughout Amritsar I think for the past couple of days. Also behind the Ragis where the males sit, they have put a cloth to cover up the corner area which is very unusual. Usually 1 or 2 people sit in that area. They might have some type of weapons hidden there or something, incase something happens within Darbar Sahib. What to say about Sarbat Khalsa? The normal Sangat is not even showing up due to major fear of another 1984. Very sad situation. Badals have already ruined the development of Punjab for many years now. If the current situation continues for another 20 days, then Punjab will go into an extreme crisis. There is a huge economic loss going on in Punjab due to the unrest. People are not even leaving their homes.
  13. Gurfateh Guru Piyaarayo! Does any one know where in the UK (or UK based website) where you can get non alcoholic perfume/scent/aftershave? It is for Guru Maharaaj Ji's Darbar for the Ramalay and Thabayah. Apart from Burberry Baby Touch, daas is finding it a struggle to source it. Thanks. Akaal!
  14. Does anyone know any contact numbers for Sant Baba Darshan Singh Ji? Or how one can stay at thier gurdwara for a few weeks? Has anyone on here done this??? Dass wants to go India soon and stay at Dhakki Sahib? Also does anyone know of places to stay near Darbar Sahib? Also request to admin to delete if more than 1 thread was created, i dont know how to!
  15. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖਾਲਸਾ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫਤਿਹ॥ Giani Jaswinder Singh, a ‘granthi’ of Sri Harmandir Sahib, on Thursday resigned after the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sought his resignation. The decision to seek the granthi’s resignation was taken by the SGPC executive at a recent meeting held in Chandigarh and it was conveyed to him on Thursday, who subsequently put in his papers. The decision to seek the granthi’s resignation was taken after he was “found absent from his duty” on the morning of April 5. His duty involved carrying to the Guru Granth Sahib on the ‘palki sahib’ from the Akal Takht to the sanctum sanctorum for the ‘parkash’ of the scripture, which takes place at 4.30am daily. His duty also involved doing ‘parkash’ of the scripture, and then taking the ‘vaak’ (order of the day). As per tradition, the duty, which is a daily affair, is assigned to a senior granthi of the sanctum sanctorum. However, Jaswinder Singh “did not turn up” at 4.30am on April 5, following which a SGPC official rang him up and informed him of his duty as per the rooster, however, “he still failed to turn up on the grounds that it was not his turn”. “Despite it being a serious offence, considering the importance of the duty, the SGPC still decided to go soft on the granthi and sought his resignation instead of suspending him or terminating his services,” said SGPC officials. “This is not the first time that Jaswinder Singh was hauled up for reasons connected with his duties. Last year too, he was demoted from ‘head granthi’ to granthi after he skipped some portions of the ‘rehras’ (evening prayer), while reciting the prayer at the sanctum sanctorum,” they added.

As part of the increased security, the cloak room (gathri ghar) has been shifted from the temple complex and bags, pouches and big camera cases have been banned inside the sanctum sanctorum. Police have also deployed extra forces in the vicinity of Golden Temple and sarais. Golden Temple manager Partap Singh told TOI on Tuesday that gathri ghar situated near parikarma was shifted towards Aata Mandi outside the complex, besides other security measure like ban on handbags. Amritsar police commissioner J S Aulakh said that a few days ago, the SGPC manager had received an anonymous threat call, demanding money. "The caller didn't inform how and where the cash was to be delivered," he said. Aulakh said the security deployment around Golden Temple and all the sarais have been strengthened. The management of Golden Temple had also taken several steps to augment the security. Intelligence sources said heavy contingent of policemen and sleuths of intelligence bureau had been deployed around the shrine. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the ban on handbags inside Golden Temple has been imposed on the basis of certain inputs. Under the circumstances, it becomes imperative to take preventive measures, he said. The management had also installed CCTVs in parikarma. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/City/Chandigarh/Security-tightened-around-Golden-Temple/articleshow/42657873.cms Hindi news media also reported it: http://www.bhaskar.com/news/PUN-AMR-enhanced-security-of-the-golden-temple-4747382-NOR.html http://www.chandigarh.amarujala.com/news/city-news-chd/punjab-amritsar-golden-temple-threat-hindi-news/

  21. Gurfateh, From a very credible source and this can be confirmed by people who work inside darbar sahib. This is not a rumor nor any "jumping on the bandwagon" attack against badals. Sukhbir directly controls the fund of sri darbar sahib. On his direct orders, computerized receipts of "Karah Parsad" was turned off during election time. Employees who tried to complain and submitted complaints to SGPC were given time off (Paid leave) or a serious action taken against them - fired or demoted. Why i am posting this here? I am hoping that some of us might got some sort of connections or reach to certain high level, please have this investigated. This is the solid proof that if proper steps taken, it can be easily proved as vast majority of sgpc workers know about this.

  23. Recently went to India because of a family bereavement. Whilst there, took the opportunity to go to Darbar Sahib. I last went ten years ago. Despite being there at 8 in the morning, it was very busy. Seem to be doing lots of work at the front. Seems you can't take photos whilst in Darbar Sahib. I understand in the main hall with Guru maharaj but we have in the past taken photos whilst upstairs at the top. We weren't allowed to do this. Also you could obtain a saropa from maharaj but now you have to go somewhere else and buy it? Around the complex, there are lots of inscriptions, many of which relate to declaration of xyz donated this much to the Darbar Sahib. Is this practice still ongoing? Why was it allowed in the first place? I didn't get as much time to read all of the other inscriptions.
  24. Anyone have any eyewitness accounts of Operations Blackthunder 1 and 2? Thank you Ji.
