  2. I came across this pangti when I was at the gurdwara listening to kirtan: ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਂਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰ ਦੀਜੈ ਡਾਰਿ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਿੰਜਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਨਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਰਿ॥ chop off that head which does not bow to the Lord O Nanak, take that body, in which there is no pain of separation from the Lord-take that body and burn it My Punjabi is very limited and I don’t know what the proper meaning of the pangti is, as I’m sure there is a deeper meaning behind the vague translation. thanks

    Home Quarantine Playlist

While we r stuck at our homes and trying to perfect the art of social distancing.....and everyone is going around sharing song or movie or web series playllist ................ heres a kirtan playlist for all us Sikhs. Feel free to add ur own favorite renderations of kirtan/katha/bani/paath by posting them on this thread.....here are some of my favourites: Here Aarti - Aarta from syf camp 2017. aarti - aarta is one of my favourite bani/paath thisis a very beautiful video .....also there is a thal with jot and agarbatti but i myself dont endorse that kind of aarti with jot , dhup, agarbatti, etc but this video is beautiful regardless This one is Asa Di Vaar by Bhai Rajan Singh ji and it is such a soulful and beautiful renderation of Asa Di Vaar.i just love it. this is bhai gurpreet singh ji shimlawaales read along gurbani video....he has a really soothing voice.he has even done other paaths heres the whole playlist of gurbani and paath read along by bhai gurpreet singh ji.....this is a must listen to playlist cos his voice is just amaazing. dukh bhanjni sahib by the same guy (this is in the playlist but i also posted individually) this is asa di vaar by chardikala jatha.the chardikala jatha also do pretty good kirtan. this is Asa di Vaar katha by Bhai Harman Singh ji Basics of Sikhi this is a great series of kathas .this again is a must watch. Another beautiful Chardikala Jatha kirtan video. this is a raag kirtan playlist from Soorma Singhs ( @TheSoormaSingh) channel he just made the playlist and it has some great selections of raag kirtan (disclaimer :he hasnt sung the kirtaan in the playlist) Thats all for this post ,anyways post ur selections of bani/paaths/kathas for the bashing of boredom during home quarantine on this thread. It will be much appreciated. And yes i do sometimes create meaningful thread .... Surprised,eh? Thanks. Fateh
  7. they have uploaded part 2 and 3 as well
  8. I have read that the person who tries to explain gurbani is sinning, and its a bad thing to do, but itsnt katha basically the same thing? Thoroughly confused.
  9. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ Sangat ji, the time of year is coming again where we will celebrate the Shaheedi days of Guru Sahib's 4 sons I thought it would be a good idea to share your favourite Katha on the Sahibzaade and Sakhis of Kalgidhar Paatshah and the tough times he had to face This Katha was very emotional and on the chote Sahibzaade, we should learn and take something and realise how brave they were.
  10. Why are Taksalis so against Nirvair Khalsa Jatha and Bhai Ranjit Singh? I don't follow any specific jathebandi or sampardas so I don't listen to parchar/kirtan with preconceived judgements based on the allegiance of a group. Based on the katha/vichaar I've heard from these guys, I never really saw anything wrong with what they were saying. In fact, they've spoken on issues that are currently hurting the sikh community like saint worship/derawaad, caste system, some sikh 'clergy' being no different than ancient religious elites, gurdwaras running as a business and etc. So what's the big deal strictly with their vichaar. I know there has been allegations on NKJ in the past but if that was the issue the people are protesting about right now, it would've happened a long time ago (which it did for a little bit I believe). So what's the deal right now?
  11. Khalsa Ji, To avoid any unpleasant issues, one should read and adhere to the rules laid out by Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. The chapter is called “Vakta Sarotal’, from SriGurpratap Suraj Granth. Satguru Ji clearly explains the maryada for doing katha, and conversely, the maryada for those sitting in Sangat. It seems that some preachers/ kathawachiks are not reading or adhering to Gurmat. If we all adhere to Gurmat, then this would eradicate all anti social activities, and bad behaviour... Waheguru...
  12. I really want to understand Jap Ji Sahib better. I have listened to some Punjabi katha but would like links to good audio/video in English so I can better understand the messages

  14. Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Sangat Ji I’m going through a very weird situation right now with my Guru Ghar, I’ve been taking an interest in a lot of Bani as of late so I’ve been doing my own Khoj of it. I’ve listened to Katha, read Teekas and also did my own interpretations of it (all in line with Gurmat as I take nearly all of it from Taksal). Our Guru Ghar is very nice and the atmosphere is good as well, the people are very friendly too. So I wanted to start doing Katha of the Bani I had learned and the arths of it. Currently there is already a Gursikh doing Katha of another bani but he will most likely need to go do Kaatha elsewhere, so I offered up my services to the Guru Ghar as I was really excited to do something worthwhile. I can talk about Bani all day and I would love the opportunity, I asked the head of the committee about it and he refused to let me, I asked why and he explained it to as thus. He said that since I shave my beard (which is true, I do but I would like to add I used to shave it once a week but now I do it nearly every 2 months and im slowly letting it grow and will keep it soon) it projects a bad image and that the sangat would start attacking the Guru Ghar over allowing someone like me to do Katha, which I find really startling as they allow moni to do Kirtan within Guru Ghar and I have seen many moni brothers doing some sort of katha (history wise) before, he cited Mika Singh who did a shabad at a Smagam and how the Sangat got angry at him over it. I did some googling and found the man was involved in all sorts of weird stuff (kissing, groping etc) and I see why the Sangat was upset, but the head was using this as a means of saying that the sangat don’t want people who shave or don’t have kesh to do anything like katha. I feel really discouraged by this as I was really keen and excited about it, I get his logic but I wanted to ask if the Sangat here agreed with it. I get im not the ideal person but I just want to share what I have learnt.
  15. Does anyone know how I can download all of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa Bhindranwale di larrivaar katha in one download rather than separate files?
  16. Lecture 124 - What are the 8.4 Milliion Incarnation :
  17. You've heard Basics of Sikhi, Bhai Sukha Singh has always taken it to the next notch up and has immense knowledge of Gurbani and history and usually performs katha in both English and Punjabi. They have been active in various parchar roles from a pretty young age. Worth subscribing to the link if interested in the latest round of videos but you will find numerous more on YT. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1HimphRydk8JcCECKf-g5w/videos?shelf_id=0&view=0&sort=dd
  18. On Sunday 10th, there was katha by a group of young Sikhs who I've never seen nor heard of before. It took place at Guru Nanak Gurdwara South Birmingham (Stratford Rd). It was so amazing that I cried. I stayed for only an hour so I couldn't find out about them. I've heard that they might be from Baru Sahib. Does anyone know who they might be? I would love to hear more of their kirtan and katha.
