  1. great kirtan by bhai kulwant singh ji
  2. When I practice tabla, I like to practice with some kirtan in the background, because it gives me a feel of how it is to accompany someone on tabla. I was looking for some ragis who, don't speed in kirtan for purpose and do kirtan in either raag or simple( like Bhai Harjinder Singh). Thanks
  3. In Memory of Shahibzadey Shaheedi, Naam Simran Smagam is happening at Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Walsall, West-Midlands. Sangat Ji, We are fast approaching the 'festive season' again this year, but what does this time of the year really mean for Sikhs? This is the time of the year that one of the biggest sacrifices in history was given by our father Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. In the month of Poh Maharaj sacrificed his four sons, his mother and countless Sikhs in the name of dharam. This was the fulfilment of a promise Guru Gobind Singh Ji made in 1699 when he, as Guru, knelt down in front of the Panj Pyaare and begged them for the gift of Amrit. The Panj asked Guru Sahib what he will give to receive this Amrit and Maharaj said they will sacrifice their entire family to get this divine gift. In memory of this Baljit Singh will be doing a daily katha over 13 Days telling the full story. This is part of the Naam Simran Smagam being held at the Gurdwara. Full details are below please be sure to attend! 19th December to 31st December. Daily smagam program: morning Simran 5am-6am & evening simran 7am-8pm 13 Larivaar Shaheedi Katha 8pm-8.30pm Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Rollingmill Street, Walsall, WS2 9EQ Maharaj has given and today continues to give so much for us, this time of year is a perfect time for us all to reflect on what we have really sacrificed to Maharaj. Please make effort to attend and share with others, it is so important that we all know about this chapter in our history!
  4. First Time Ever, Kirtan performed on the Great Wall of China, Beijing on Saturday 28th November 2015. By Bhai Gagandeep Singh ( Sri Ganga Nagar Wale) & Jatha with China Sangat with Blessings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Video by Satbir Singh Thakral
  5. Does anyone know any raag kirtanies who have shabads that are independant ( meaning that not put all together into a Youtube Video or Soundcloud Track). Thanks WJKK WJKF
  6. I was wondering if any of u guys knows a ragi who does kirtan in tunes and at the same time in Raag (Combine both). The reason I want to know is because I like raag kirtan as it was the way the Gurus wanted us to sing Gurbani in. At the same time I want the sangat who is listening to the kirtan to be able to sing along with the shabad. So i wanted an example of a Ragi who does that. Please list the ragi name if u know one. Thanks.
  7. Anyone knows a kirtan artist who do good kirtan ,pronouncing gurbani correctly and his kirtan is melodious to listen? Mainly Nitnem banis kirtan. Also kirtan style similar to raagi's doing kirtan in Gurudwara Sahib's.
  8. I know Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sri dasam Granth sahib and bhai gurdas Ji di bani are parvann to do at darbar sahib. I just wanted to know if bhai nand lal Ji's bani is also allowed?
  9. Bhai Manpreet Singh Ji Kanpuri is doing an amazing job singing Kirtan (Gods praises) in Gurdwaras around the world. The sweetness in his voice and raw emotion, passion and love that shines through him makes you want to connect with God to know the secret of this pure love and to experience it for yourself. He does Kirtans every week through-out the year as selfless service for the community. I was introduced to his Kirtans on youtube, and since then I really like listening to them. I believe they have the power to change peoples lives and fill us up with sweetness. Because he is such a humble person, the instrument he uses is very simple (harmonium). I have made this page to gather money for a Minimoog Voyager-synthesizer for him, as well as a Korg Ms-20 synthesizer for his side-partner. Primarily I hope that Sikhs who know the value of singing Kirtan and connecting people with Gurbani will support this fund. I also welcome others who feel the love to join in. Modern synthesizers together with his voice and innocent and pure devotion will make it easier for people across the globe and especially teenagers to connect with Gurbani. If you contribute to this fund you are contributing to a small (in size) but beautiful and meaningful project that will produce amazing results of loving devotion. That is after-all, the real, intangible thing. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. https://www.gofundme.com/kirtanseva

  18. So apparently there is a Vaisakhi at City Hall event being organised by, "the mayor, with support from Singh Sabha London East and EY Sikh network". The event will include: Shabad kirtan - spiritual music Langar - food Folk dance and martial arts Poetry Exhibitions Turban tying Short films by Sikh artists, inc. Q&As Displays by Sikh organisations Fun children’s activities Now I am very curious to know why an event being organised (At least in part) by a Gurdwara is including 'folk dance'? Is it not beadbi to have folk dance in the same line up as shabad kirtan? I am also interested to know, how will the organizers ensure respect for the bani being sung by making sure everyone is sat on the floor, heads uncovered, shoes off and quiet? Which sikh organisations will be doing the displays? Who are the sevadars running all of these exhibits? If there is such a large scale event happening, why is it that it seems to only be in the hands of one gurdwara and a small city organisation? Where is the accountability??
