  1. WJKK WJKF For those who don't know, Balbir Bazighar is one of the "Jathedars" (quotations because he is fake) for Budha Dal. Budha Dal is currenty split into three. The true Jathedar, accoring to maryada, Akaali Baba Prem Singh The one who is believed to be the Jathedar, after Sangat didn't want Balbir to be Jathedar, Akaali Baba Joginder Singh The fake one, Balbir Bazighar. My question is, how did he suddenly gain so much influence? Did the government bribe him, etc? WJKK WJKF

    Nihangs in 1984

The nihangs are supposed to be tyeaar baar tyeaar. Ready for battle at any moment. So where were the nihang Singhs during the attack on harimandir Sahib? Who has the answer to this?
  8. Hi I wanted to know how one becomes a nihang in Canada. I am from BC and wondering what the process is especially in western countries. I was also wondering how maryada is kept as well because wearing a bana all the time is hard. Any information will be great.
  9. Managed to restore a web archive of nihangsingh.org and registered a (free) domain for it for ease of use. http://nihangsingh.tk/ Lots of information can be retrieved from the website.

  13. VJKK VJF Sangat Ji, I'm hearing that Nihang Singhs put 5 leaves of cannabis in degh. What is this for and why is this? I mean cannabis... cannabis. I'm kind of (not) getting to grips what jhatka meat is about but cannabis? Someone please enlighten me. VJKK VJKF
  14. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sangat Ji, has anyone got a copy of the purataan rehat marayada where the panj pathay (5 leaves) of sukha is written? Or is it taken from Bhai Santokh Singh's Sri Gur Partap Suraj Parkash? Also, is shaheedi degh the only way of consumption? Meaning, can it be consumed as infused 'tea' with honey for example? Looking to get the health benefits from it but won't always be able to do the traditional ragra. Please don't make this post anti-sukha/shaheedi degh! Akaal!
  15. WJKK WJKF As part of a school project, I am doing Sikhi for religious education. Our essay focuses more on sects (Taksali, AKJ, 3HO, etc) I am doing Nihang, and many of my other class members are. I want to go further and actually explain how to join them. If you think about it, people will have stuff like their beliefs, how they were created, modern day nihangs. I want to do stuff like beliefs, how they were created, their contribution in 1984, Nihang isn't one sect (it relies on Nihang jathebandees), how to become a nihang yourself If anyone could help me I would appreciate it a lot. WJKK WJKF

  20. https://youtu.be/p8jvzLYltK8 Mom catholic, father buddhists, and educated in catholic environment. He said he wasnt satisfied in his spiritual life. He began his journey on the path of truth on the search for truth. He learned in libraries to discover the truth in spiritual knowledge. Bhai Sahib did his own research and compared one religion to another. At a young age, He figured that every religion was the same as it teaches goodness and well being for everyone. However, he wasnt satisfied and his thirst wasnt fulfilled. At his tenth birthday, Bhai Sahibs mom gave him a book about world religions and thats where he discovered Sikhism. He says the word Sikhism connects in his mind because he passed a Gurdwara on his way to school everyday in Jakarta. He learned about Sikhism and study deeply into the religion. Due to limited resources, the study on Sikhi was limited and he determined that the religion is normal compared to others. The question lingered in his mind about the true religion. He began on further research on the new religion he discovered. He searched for books on Sikhism from library to library and finally found a good resource and understood that Sikhism isnt the same as the other religions. By the age of 11, he learned about Sikhism from two Sikhs he met in Singapore. Bhai Wadbhag was referred by the Sikh men to learn more from the local Gurdwara where he started to learn from Granthis and Kirtaniye from the Gurdwara Sahib in Singapore. Finally, Bhai Sahib met the student of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and Sant Giani Gurbhachan Singh Bhindranwale Giani Vikar Singh. Bhai Wadbhag learned about the Nitnem Banis, Sikh Sakhis, Sants, and the Sikh Shaheeds. After learning about the Shaheeds, Bhai Wadbhag Singh was inspired to embrace Sikhi. http://dailysikhupdates.com/catholic-nihang-singh-incredible-journey-wadbhag-singh/
  21. Part II of Tisarpanth's Misconceptions Series. Here two main misconceptions are answered: 1.) Sikhi survived due to the sole efforts of the Jats and, 2.) Sikhi was a reaction against contemporary economics. To quote a few portions: 'Sikh history, and tradition, substantiates that no lapse was ever tolerated from the faith’s ideology. The names of Baba Atal Rai and Baba Ram Rai are only some of the many examples which depict the penalties imposed upon those who, for one reason or another, deviated from established norms. The former resurrected a victim of snakebite and was so sternly reprimanded by his father, the sixth Guru, that he discarded his mortal frame whilst the latter intentionally changed a line of Gurbani and was excommunicated by his own father, the seventh Guru. Summarily we can easily conclude then that it is impossible to assert that the sixth Guru who was more than satisfied to witness his own son’s demise, but could not tolerate any deviation from the faith’s ideology would concede to any demands made by the Jats.' 'Non-Sikh records mention the respect with which the Sikhs treated women, even extending courtesy and safety to those who were of their sworn foes. (19) If compared with Jat practices, historic and present, than these contrast starkly as the Jat objectification of women is a well known fact. Secondly, the Sikh ability to unite in face of a common threat historically is a well-established fact. This principle emerged out of two factors namely a channeling of all energies towards achieving a singular goal, and a singular interpretation of the faith. The Jats were and still are avid worshipers of Jatheras or shrines dedicated to some Sisyphean ancestor(s). (20) With each locality, tribe, clan, village espousing a different ancestor any ideological unity and singular channeling of energy is impossible. The establishment of Bharatpur can only be called a miracle as the Jat unity forged for it’s establishment soon disintegrated afterwards.' https://tisarpanthdotcom.wordpress.com/2016/04/24/misconceptions-ii/
