    Amrit vela and long hours

This is about my wife who has been getting up for amrit vela to read bani. It’s a good thing as she’s a lot calmer in herself, more happy. But she’s also more tired. Getting up for amrit vela means 5 hours’ sleep, 2 hours for amrit vela (starts at 4am, not counting ishnaan). Then gets ready to go to work, 1hr commute. 13 hour shift. Comes home. Eat. Goes to bed. She has started nodding off when driving, and on her days off, spends most of her time sleeping to catch up. Hours are fixed. Most of her colleagues live within walking distance of her workplace. She doesn’t want to move as we live in a nice area. She eats healthily but doesn’t have time for exercise because of looking after the house. I help out with chores as much as possible. I know as she builds up her kamaii she will get stronger, less tired and able to focus more. But she’s really struggling. I don’t want to stop her from keeping amrit vela as it’s benefitted her. What else could we do or try so she’s less tired?

    Distracted During Amrit Vela

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Can anyone tell me how to stop being distracted during Amrit Vela; (sometimes I get sleepy, or other times I think about what I'll do during the day when the sun is up, or other nonsense while doing Gurmantar Jaap). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently as I have been trying to stay on an Amrit Vela, I've felt some sleep problems, (before I was trying to start the routine, I hadn't been a strong person in GurSikhi, also having some strong-minor withdrawal symptoms of previous kaam problems), I want to know if anyone else has this a problem getting to sleep at night, while trying to wake-up early in the morning, and what I can do, (With Gur-prassad of course), to hopefully sleep at the night and be capable of Waking-up early at Amrit Vela, (sometimes I can't sleep until 12 A.M.) Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! (It sometimes makes me feel weak that I can't wake-up early because of sleeping too late).

    Amrit Vela Advice

Sangat ji, please help me. Months ago I committed a transgression, which I plan to go pesh for. I made a mistake, though I was going through a really bad time, and am just about coming out of it now. However, I don't feel ready to go pesh until I get my jeevan strong enough - because afterwards, I don't want to be slipping up a lot. Since, I just can't get up for Amrit Vela. I always put my alarm on, sometimes I put it across the room- but I always turn it off and go back to sleep without a second thought. The desire to get up may be there the night before, I may feel the desire to jap naam and really feel like I just want to get things started again and turn this around- but when the morning comes, I put sleep first, most of the time without thinking anything of it. So, when I wake up I listen to my nitnem while doing other tasks. I can't get anywhere without Amrit Vela. I've tried to do things in the day in the hopes of turning things around, Sukhmani Sahib paaths, Mool Mantar, but then in the morning I end up staying in bed and it all goes down again. Please could somebody give me some advice?
  6. I have been told that you are allowed to listen to nitnem on your media player without having to read it? the thing is that as i read my paath on an ipod touch, my eyes start to hurt abit even with the lowest brightness on display. Any help? also as im a school student i usually wake up at 5, have a shower and do nitnem before 6am. Is this still classified as amritvela? please let me know your thoughts. thanks
  7. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh what happens to amrit vela when clocks shift forward due to daylight saving time? DST is man-made, earth's rotation is God-made. Which one to follow? waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
