  1. WJKK WJKF I currently wear a patka and need to learn how to tie a dumalla. I’m 16. I only have 3 weeks to learn (let me know if the type I want to wear will be too hard to learn in this time frame. I have no one to help irl only YouTube videos). Firstly, I have managed to finally get some dumalla cloth and have at the moment left it to soak overnight as I was told this is what you need to do as I had great difficulty trying to learn how to tie one without it washed. So I have 2 lengths of 6m long 0.5m wide cloth. Is this a good amount for the type I want? (Photo will be attached belo

Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh.. I have just started tying a punjabi turban(Patiala shahi) and one of my cousins told me that sikhs are Specifically meant to wear a dumalla. He said that any other turban except a dumalla is made by the british apparently. So i have a question in sikhi is it compulsory to just wear a dumalla or is it fine wearing any other turban?

    Dumalla and Ears

WJKK WJKF My dumalla has been causing me issues ever since i started wearing it. My dumalla consists of a bunga (does not cover my ear), then the Keski (does not cover my ear), then the actual dumalla (final piece, does cover my ears) Throughout the day of wearing it would start to sting my ears. I then lift up the part that is covering my ears and then people would say it is very red and has a cut. I would prefer to keep my turban on my ears since it becomes more stable. WJKK WJKF
  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sangat Ji, Maharaaj Kirpa I have recently started tying a dumalla as opposed to an African style pagh. Would it be for an 'average' Sikh to wear a Chand and Sringaar in their Dumalla? I say 'average' as I don't consider myself a Nihang Singh, I just love their roop that Dasmeh Patshah has blessed us with.
  5. Vaheguru... Sangat Ji, how do you dispose of your old Dastaars? I tend to use some old Dastaars as keski's to wear when at home, doing sports (which I rarely do), going to sleep or on that occasional lazy cant be bother day however, I have built up a massive collection of old Dastaars now (all in suitcases) which need to be disposed of. I wouldn't bin them as I feel this would be disrespect. How do you dispose of them? Burn them the same as with fallen Kes? Any suggestions of the best method with full respect would be much appreciat
  6. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh I am a Sikh girl who has recently started wearing a Dastaar. I chose to do this as I wish to live in the bana that the Guru set for us. I am also Amritdhari. One question came to my mind... Is wearing a Dupatta/Chunni required if I am wearing a Dastaar. From my belief, Dupattas/Chunnis are meant to cover hair as a sign of respect for the Guru. Wearing a Dastaar permanently takes care of that. However, I see several women that have Keskis, yet they use a Dupatta/Chunni to wrap it around their breasts/bust. Is that the whole point of a Dupat
  7. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh! Sangat Ji, the reason I have started this topic is to allow sangat Ji to give their views/opinions/reviews on dastaar (i.e. size, material, style/type, tips & techniques). Even though I know there are many post regarding the dumalla or dastaar, I thought it would be great if we are able to have all questions/queries and answers under one post (help me especially). Few questions for example: What material is best for dumalla/dasaar and Why? Length of your/common dumalla/dastar? Experience you have gained from learning to tie your dumall

    Wearing A Dumalla

WJKK WJKF, Sangat, I have a issue that I am concerned about. I want to start wearing a dumalla to gurdwara as I am beginning to wear a dumalla since I am taking amrit in the upcoming months. I was wondering if sangat at my gurdwara will make remarks at me and should I just avoid their remarks as I am taking my Sikhi seriously and following every hukam before taking amrit. None of teenagers my age come to gurdwara or they still wear a patka and more than half the Sikhs don't follow the true teachings of Sikhi. I am willing to wear a dumalla. So should I just start wearing a dumalla without ca
