  1. Many people say that we have 11 or 12 Gurus. After thinking about it, these are the different forms of Guru Sahib that I could remember: Guru Nanak Dev Ji Guru Angad Dev Ji Guru Amar Das Ji Guru Ram Das Ji Guru Arjan Dev Ji Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji Guru Gobind Singh Ji Guru Granth Sahib Ji Panj Pyare Guru Panth Khalsa If we look at the number it's 13, or Teraa (yours)!
  2. Were the Gurus above normal human beings? Ie if they were they would not succumb to illness like normal humans do. It has been stated that certain Gurus performed miracles and cured diseases. But why could Guru Har Krishan not cure his own small pox from which passed away from? If Gurus could perform acts of miracles then why did they did not do this to themselves when they were unwell.

    Comparison to Islam

SSA Ji, I was wondering if anyone could draw a comparison or explain this to me. I am unfamiliar with Islam but I have a close friend who is Muslim and knows very little about Sikhi. I was describing to him about the Gurus, and he asked if they could be comparable to their "Prophet." As far as I understand, the "Prophet" was just a messenger of God. But I am unsure if the 10 Gurus can be compared to a messenger. I know Guru Gobind Singh Ji said do not pray to him as he was not God, and to pray only to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. So can we call the Guru Jis messengers of God? Sorry fo

  5. I asked same question to some gursikh and he said "Gurbaani was heard by our gurus and bhagats in a deep meditative state, and then they wrote it down" Is it true ?
  6. I think all the Guru's (1-9) were born in Punjab and their first language was Punjabi. Is this true for Guru Gobind Singh who was born in Patna? Did the Gurus speak with Sikhs from different plAces in their own language or mainly Punjabi?
  7. I recently read a debate regarding the so-called status of Bhagat Ravidass as the Guru of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This is sheer fallacy in light of certain facts which I have incorporated into this article. http://tisarpanth.blogspot.co.nz/2014/09/the-elephant-in-room-i.html?view=magazine I don't believe that the Bhagats actually met the Gurus, or all of the Bhagats met the Gurus. I base my assertion on the fact that no substantive chronology of any Bhagat can be established. Other than that, each to his own but Sikhs would do well to remember that the claim, 'all the writings of the Bhagats are
  8. Hello. Up until now I've been a passive Punjabi/Sikh and not really understood much about the religion and to be honest, been quite agnostic becauses of my Scientific education. Lately, however, I have made friends who took me to Sikh camp, and it got me really interested in my religion and God. I want to learn more because I think it's fascinating. Someone at Sikh camp said the Gurus were very powerful and there is still evidence of their power. Can anyone here relate any stories or examples that demonstrate the Guru's power? Thanks!
  9. In this world when the downfall in religion sets in, when vis-a-vis human values, aggression, force, bigotry, political injustice, social hatred, pride and madness amidst abundance of money enter society or the political atmosphere, then, the king becomes a butcher; nothing worth the name of religion remains in his rule. The Master, the king of kings, proclaims thus - The Age of Machines has become a cutter, And the kings have become butchers. Righteousness has taken wings and fled. In the pitch dark night of falsehood, It is not possible to see Where the moon of t
