  1. Firstly, I think British school food should be neutral without any sacred food being served. Also please consider this topic for other countries which may have this issue, possibly Australia? Obviously this isn't a solution for schools in islamic countries! However, as we know, some schools are forcing Halal meat. So why don't we do a positive spin on this? Since some schools are forcing sacred food from one religion onto students. Then why not demand langar in these schools as sikhs require their own sacred food in cases where neutral food is not available? We should seriously ask for this demand, as sacred food should not only be available for one minority. Would be good if there was some kind of SACRED FOOD ACT / LAW or AGREEMENT. And since langar should not be commercial, it should be served by a sikh volunteer and should also be free, obviously open to donations. I think organisations like SWAT already have the infrastructure in place for serving langar in public. Would local gurdwaras be able to help and provide langar and volunteers for this? The positive thing about this is that concept of langar gets out more in public, and educates young learning minds about sikhi traditions and community kitchens. And obviously anyone can partake of langar as it's free. CAN WE HAVE SOMETHING TEMPORARY IN PLACE before the start of the NEW ACADEMIC YEAR in SEPTEMBER 2018? How can we get this out there? Obviously I am only talking about vegetarian langar, I will post more options on forums which are more sangat orientated and more panthic.
  2. watched this video and can see why Guru ji didn't want us to join in eating this way, it has somepoints worth considering but I wouldn't take it too far like current idiots in India who want to ethnic cleanse.
  3. WJKK WJKF I have a question about "halal" food. I see foods such as special K and bread with a halal logo on them. The foods are vegetarian but still halal. I don't know what the process or if we can eat this food or not? Can anyone shed any light? Phul chuk Maff

    Halal food

Guru Granth Sahib forbids eating of halal or any meat killed according to ritual beliefs. Muslims have successfully lobbied to get most of the restuarants even in Sikh populated areas to serve only Halal food. However, it hurts me to see keshdhari Sikhs sitting in Shwarma place and other Pakistani joints happily eating Halal food. When you talk to them, they plead ignorance. These are the same Sikhs who tend to lecture other mona Sikhs about keeping kesh. Why are they not following the tenants and protesting about the creeping Halal everywhere? Our school where 50% of the students are Sikh now serve Halal hot dogs because of only 5% Muslims. None of the Sikhs care about this. Muslims are using Halal certification to build mosques in every street and actively convert people, but use Sikhs are happy eating Biryani! When I bring this up in Gurdwara they say we should only be vegetarian, when all the committee members eat meat and close to 90% Sikhs are non-veg (also Gurbani does not prohibit meat). I am so confused at this hypocrisy. Anyone agree with me?

  6. Who would have thought.... Halal chicken firm that supplies top supermarkets boiled birds ALIVE after blunders meant they had not had their throats slit before being plunged into the water http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4078006/Halal-chicken-firm-supplies-supermarkets-boiled-birds-ALIVE-blunders-meant-not-throats-slit-plunged-water.html
  7. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sometimes my parents buy vegetables and stuff from shops which also sell halal meat, I don't eat anything from halal restaurants and I am confused whether or not it is right to buy ingredients from grocers that have halal butchers inside. But then again I buy stuff from supermarkets and stuff which also sells halal products. I know it's a stupid question, but i don't know what to do.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, There are over 8000 fried chicken shops in London alone, and a substantial majority of these are Halal. Taken alongside the countless other Pakistani/Middle Eastern restaurants and grubby little kebab houses, this comfortably places the number of Halal eateries in the capital at over 10,000. Each of these traffics in the meat of hundreds of animals daily, amounting to millions of creatures killed every day. Which is why the logistics of the Halal industry make such little sense to me. Dhabihah slaughter is a demanding and time consuming process. There is no way in hell that every single one of the millions of animals slaughtered in Halal abattoirs each day are killed in accordance with Islamic Law. They don't have enough manpower and the day doesn't have enough hours in it. I'd be surprised if one in ten animals were killed in this way. This idea seems so simple and obvious that I can't understand how it never seems to have occurred to any of this country's 3 million Muslims. Is this an instance of selective intelligence? Do they not know, or do they suspect something is amiss but not care? None of this is to say that Sikhs should start eating it - even if it isn't Halal, this sort of mass-produced factory slaughtered meat, khulla maas, is not even close to being jhatka (the only meat permitted to Sikhs by Akaal Takhat).
  9. Yep apparently you can make cereal halal. I personally do not understand it, does this mean they cut the cereal piece by piece or something like they do with animals? Does this mean we cannot eat it? I loved my crunchy nut man if its true. Im just waiting for the halal Ford Focus and Halal PS4
  10. Today my parents accidentally gave me halal biscuits to eat and I am amritdhari I trusted them and well.... so what do I do now am I a non-Sikh now??/
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-15610142 what is everyone's view on this? personally although i do not agree with halal at all and i think it is inhumane way of slaughter I think as a sikh I would defend the muslims (and jews) right to practice their chosen religion properly, just as guru Teg Bahadur ji sacraficed himself to save a religion he did not belive in do you think sikhs should support muslims and jews in this situation even though we do not agree with halal or kosher?? what does everybody think???
