first you need to
Make sure you have a good quality kirpan/tulwar/shamshir and is sharpened
keep it at an angle to sharpen
Use the following grits of japanese natural stones 400,800,2000,4000 is enough
400 - 800 for correcting edge to bring in allignment
1000-2000-4000 to refine and fine the edge

you can buy a leafspring made kirpan , but make sure its sharpened
to improove its sharpened you can use natural grit stones
1) a new paper post for cutting practice
2) improve your technique for for edge allignment
