WJKK WJKF Can anyone recommend any good books or links where I can get some shabad kirtan notes. I already have the Learn Kirtan pdf. If anyone has the notes to any shabads at all I would be really gratefull. Can anyone give me advice on improving my skills on the harmonium too, I am o.k with the basic shabads but I want to be more versitile and compose alaaps etc thanks

Vaheguroo jee ka khalsaa vaheguroo jee kee fatehhh I just went to an akj samagam and noticed that the sewadars would block the parkarma while the program began and opened it when it finishes. can some one tell me why this is done. Hi everyone. I've written a software to help people learn kirtan. You can find the download links and instructions at https://github.com/gsingh93/Learn-Kirtan/wiki. Please note that you must have java installed from http://java.com/en/ to use the application. In short, you can type notes (sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni) into the editor and click play to see them played on the screen. Komal notes have an apostrophe before them ('ga) and theevra notes have an apostrophe after them (ma'). Notes that are in the upper scale have a period after them (sa.) and lower scale notes have the period before them (.ni). There are more features, like labels and holding notes for more than one beat that you can read about on the download page. This software is still in beta, so you're bound to find bugs in it. I've only tested it on a Windows 7 machine, and I don't know how it will run on other machines, but feel free to try. Also, I've heard that there are some glitches on slower machines. Please let me know about any issues you find. (On the website/wiki page, there's a note about log files you might want to read. They help me debug issues). This software is opensource. That means that the code is publicly available online, and anyone can contribute. If you're a developer and want to contribute, I'd love to work with you, and I really need the help. If you like this software, please spread the word. Thanks!

Sri Harmandir Sahib Maryada is continuous reading of sri guru granth sahib jee and kirtan during day time and this been going on since our guru jees time. Maybe there is a reason for that.. I am not sure but i think kirtan should be given more important place than katha. Kirtan is the method of conveying message of our 10 guru sahiban. There is no mix, no opinions added and therefore nobody can do kinto pirunto on message dhur ki bani. Katha is highly mixture of gurbani with kathavachaak's personal opinion. Due of lack of gurbani knowledge in sikh masses, i think it is easy for rouge kathavachak's to mislead scores of ppl. Hence i think katha should not be given important place in our sikh culture. I think katha should be limited to kids or strictly used during training programs. DamDami Taksal is the only sikh school having history of more than 100 years+. I think katha culture should only be preserved and run in such institutions where scores of sikh kids go to learn more about sikhi. (please do not bring politics about current situation). I think people like me can be easily misled to other direction because of lack of knowledge on gurbani (kirtan). When that happens then it takes years to come to right path. Also, looking at all recent events from darsho to dhunda; we have seen them misleading sangat either by doing katha in between kirtan or holding kahta stages around the world. I also think that ppl listening to katha of their fav. Kathavaachak becomes hard-core fan of them and start following them rather than focusing on follow sri guru granth sahib jee.. I respect all mahan kathavachaks and some of them have great knowledge about sikhi but i think it is important to note that katha culture is important in our life but kirtan should be the main appetite of every human. Sorry if i offend anyone.. just random thoughts going thru my head...

hi ... i am wanting to do kirtan in a studio (sangat roopi) with all intraments etc.. i have NO clue at all how i am do this and were. iv googles "kirtan studios" but no luck.... i wnt to expericance how it wod be maybe if i was a gyani.... can som1 PLZ help mee or suggiest were can do theses recording etc THANKYOU :-)
