On Sunday 9th Sept 2018 at 13:00 , Tickets 5GBP: For our seventh talk in the series, Dr Sâqib Bâburî, Curator for the Persian Manuscripts Digitisation Project at the British Library, explores the patronage of Persian manuscripts during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and his successors, including several recently made discoveries. This illustrated talk will be followed by a Q&A session. Sâqib Bâburî is the Curator for the Persian Manuscripts Digitisation Project at the British Library, presently cataloguing the Delhi Persian collection. Specialising in the history of mediaeval India, his doctoral research focused on the Royal Collection’s Padshanamah. Bâburî’s expertise covers most aspects of Persian codicology, calligraphy, palaeography and art history. This lecture series has been organised by the UK Punjab Heritage Association (UKPHA) in partnership with the SOAS South Asia Institute (SSAI). BREAKING: PATIALA UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN ATTEMPTS TO DESTROY RARE SIKH MANUSCRIPTS Students of Punjabi University Patiala today foiled an attempt by Librarian and other conspirators to sell/destroy rare handwritten manuscripts related to Sikhi. Gurbani Pothiya, Historic Literature and writings, handwritten manuscripts were being sold off in Crap (RADDI) by Librarian. When Students noticed it, they stopped the truck and took literature in their possession. Librarian SAROJ BALA said she has got atleast ONE COPY of every Book/Writing which was being Sold, but when the students demanded her to show the copies she could not. Instead she tore down one Magazine Nirguniara which students had recovered from truck. Now the SIKH STUDENTS are protesting against this conspiracy to destroy SIKH HISTORICAL BOOKS which were being stored in University.   4. I had this question in mind, do we have documented or oral procedure or certain criteria that scholars and researchers follow in order to research sikh manuscripts. Like, what things to look for in sikh manuscripts in order to test its authenticity like -signatures, dates?
