  1. Paedophile Rochdale grooming gang member, 51, who got a 13-year-old girl pregnant argues he shouldn't be deported to Pakistan because his son needs a role model Adil Khan and Qari Abdul Rauf have been told they will be deported to Pakistan Since release from jail in 2016 they have fought a legal battle to remain in the UK Father-of-five Khan says he must be a 'father figure' to teach 'right from wrong' A member of the notorious Rochdale grooming gang has told a judge that he should not be deported back to Pakistan because his son needs a role model. Adil Khan, 51, and Qari Abdul Rauf, 52, have been told they will be sent back to Pakistan for the good of the British public, after both were part of a gang convicted of a catalogue of serious sex offences in May 2012. For two years from early 2008, girls as young as 12 were plied with alcohol and drugs and gang-raped in rooms above takeaway shops and ferried to different flats in taxis where cash was paid to use the girls. Since release from jail on licence in 2016, they have fought a long legal battle against deportation - mounting multiple legal challenges and appeals - spanning several years on the grounds that deportation would interfere with their human rights. But now both Khan and Rauf will finally hear if they can remain in the UK after a date for their deportation case was set for later this year. Khan appeared at a final deportation hearing on Wednesday to argue he should not be deported, where Judge Charlotte Welsh asked him how his son might be affected if he was deported from the UK. Khan, speaking through a Miripuri interpreter, replied: 'As you know, the father figure is very important in every culture in the world, to be a role model for the child, to tell him or her right from wrong. Police fear as many as 47 victim may have been groomed by the gang. Failure to deport any of the gang has led to widespread anger in Rochdale, where victims realised they had been living alongside their recently-released tormentors. A string of Home Secretaries have also come under fire after being accused of failing to act after members of the group were ordered to be deported in 2015. Khan also claimed he is not wanted by his family back in Pakistan because his notoriety would be bad for the business they own. Failure to deport any of the grooming gang has led to anger in Rochdale, where victims were living alongside their tormentors, and has heaped public criticism on a number of home secretaries. Khan got a 13-year-old girl pregnant, but denied he was the father, then met another girl, 15, and trafficked her to others using violence when she complained. 2. Grooming gang that systematically raped a 14-year-old girl and 'robbed her of her childhood' in West Yorkshire is jailed Woman was just 14 when she was raped by gang in Keighley, West Yorkshire Eight men were found guilty of 23 counts of rape and two of conspiracy to rape The CPS said two were sentenced last year and four more were jailed on Friday A grooming gang who raped a 14-year-old girl and 'abused her systematically and repeatedly' over a two-year period have been jailed. The woman was raped by multiple men in the Keighley area of West Yorkshire over a period between 2008 and 2009, when she was aged between 14 and 16. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said eight men were found guilty of 23 counts of rape and two of conspiracy to rape in two separate trials at Bradford Crown Court last year. The CPS said two were sentenced last year and four more were jailed on Friday. Nazir Khan, 30, of Keighley, Kamran Hussain, 29, of Keighley, Omar Safdar, 30, of Oldham, Imran Sabir, 42, of Keighley, Hassan Basharat, 32, of Keighley and Barber Hussain, 36, of Bradford have now been jailed. Two others are yet to be sentenced. Nazir Khan (left), 30, of Keighley, was sentenced to 12 years and given an extended eight-year licence period while Kamran Hussain (right), 29, of Keighley was given five years in prison Prosecutors said the girl was driven to parks, flats and isolated places where she was raped by the men. In a statement issued through West Yorkshire Police on Friday, the woman said: 'The driving force for me to keep going through all of this was so that it prevents it from happening to other people, and also it might help other people come forward.' Ed Hulbert, from the CPS, said: 'These eight men cynically manipulated and ruthlessly exploited a young and vulnerable girl. 'They plied her with drugs and alcohol and abused her systematically and repeatedly. They raped her when she was alone and unprotected. 'They are now facing lengthy prison sentences. 'The victim has displayed immense courage and resilience in reporting these crimes and helping us to build a robust case to put before a jury. Our thoughts remain with her.' Hassan Basharat (left), 32, of Keighley, was given 12 years in jail and Omar Safdar (right), 30, of Oldham, was also given a 12 year sentence Barber Hussain (left), 36, of Bradford, was sentenced to 13 years in prison and Imran Sabir (right), 42, of Keighley was given a 12 year sentence Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes said: 'I would like to take this opportunity to praise the victim for coming forward and reporting these offences to the police, for her patience whilst the criminal investigation has been ongoing and her courage in giving evidence in court. 'The abuse she endured robbed her of her childhood and I hope seeing all of these men sent to prison today for these horrendous offences she was subjected to will allow her to start to look forward to the future.' The CPS said the six sentences so far were: - Nazir Khan, 30, of Keighley - 12 years and an extended eight-year licence period - Kamran Hussain, 29, of Keighley - five years - Omar Safdar, 30, of Oldham - 12 years - Imran Sabir, 42, of Keighley - 12 years - Hassan Basharat, 32, of Keighley - 12 years - Barber Hussain, 36, of Bradford - 13 years https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10528587/Grooming-gang-systematically-raped-14-year-old-girl-jailed.html
