  1. VJKK VJKF I am almost 20 years old and i feel as though i am ready to take amrit, though i have a few questions i feel i cant ask anywhere else before doing so. Amrit Sanchar is next week, and as confident as i am, I am just as scared. I know it sounds silly, If guruji is with you, you should have nothing to be afraid about, but being a teenage girl in western society it is hard sometimes. I have gone off my path before, but i am on my way back and i feel like taking amrit is the push i need to erase my past, start fresh and to help me be the best i can be. like the first step in reaching akal purakh. 1. I know alot of amritdhari women get laser hair removal becuase once its gone they can keep thier rehat properly. Is it wrong of me to take amrit and then get laser treatments when i have to the money to do so? or should i not touch my hair at all, i know thats preferred but considering where we live it really is hard to have muchan and dhari being a girl living here. will guru ji forgive me for getting rid or reducing hair once on my face and then after completely keeping my rehat? 2. Must a woman cover her head all the time after taking amrit? I want to wear a dastar eventually, but i know i have to ease into that and do it when im ready. Do i have to cover with ramal all the time in the meantime? or is covering hair not mandatory. 3.What about relationships? I am not actually in one, but an amritdhari guy and I both have quite strong feelings and overtime continue to get to know one another, we dont want to break any rules but we also dont want to miss the opportunity, I really feel as though this is the man i will marry, but we are both just too young right now. how do we continue this without having kaami thoughts, but keep this connection strong enough without having a bf.gf relationship. 4. Are we allowed to wear makeup? I have some skin issues and ive always used makeup as a way to cover them up, am i allowed to continue this? 5. We are not allowed to wear earrings or nail polish, correct? thank you for your help!

    Ms

I want to share my experience/ journey as a sikh. My mother believes strongly in path and when I was young, she taught me how to do path. At least gave me a motive/ direction. She told me, do sukhmani sahib path every single day for 40 days and your wishes will come true( ask and you shall receive). And I believed it and kept doing path. It helped me through out my life. She did mention about Shabad paaths- Isha Puran Shabad. But that requires so much discipline, did that and got results. All these shabads and marayada: showering, with hair wash, clean clothes, sucham, doing Jot, following a diet. I am struggling with the belief system. As I grew older, I started understanding Gurbani- there is a mention in sukhmani sahib itself(correct me if I am wrong) that taking showers will not clean our soul, we need baani for that. I do believe in God, but its like I am doubting myself that if I dont do it maryada wise, my wishes wont come true. As a human, I have wishes/desires which only waheguru can help me with. What do I go with? what I interpret of Gurbani or feed on my doubts for not following Sucham and Maryada. I would highly appreciate your kind thoughts.
  3. This is a purely hypothetical question Imagine a situation where a Sikh family living in a Western country decides to send their nine year old son (after he attempted to cut his hair due to bullying) to attend a Sikh school in the Punjab while living with relatives who are very religious. Now one of his best friends of the same age (a non-Sikh Gora with short hair) who always wanted to see India and offered to go with him and his request was granted. Do you think the religious relatives of the Sikh boy living in the Punjab would allow the non-Sikh boy cut his hair while living with them?

  5. As per the akaal takhat, hazuri And nihang maryada only halal Maas is not allowed so what’s wrong with eating maccies or KFC? this may be a stupid question but honestly why can’t we eat other meat that’s not halal. Even though I don’t agree with niddar nang at all, there was a video posted on here a few weeks ago with him eating maccies and Singhs on YouTube and on this forum were totally against it, but it’s not halal meat so what’s wrong with it?
  6. Hello Guys I found out that the Central Khalsa Orphanage based in Amritsar requires that its non-Sikh boys who are admitted be required to grow their hair and wear patkas until the age of 12 and turbans until they turn 18 in which they can cut their hair again. What do you think of this?
  7. I need some help. I am a catholic, British female and my partner is a British sikh male. We want to get married this year and what to do the ceremony in a temple in India. Legally we won't be 'married' as I'm aware we have to be in the country for at least 30 days before they can pass everything and so we just want to do the ceremony in India then when we come home, legalise it here. My question however to you all is.... Will a temple allow me to have the ceremony seeing as I'm not sikh? ?
