  1. VJKK VJKF! Sangat Ji, are there any Singh's (or Singhia) in the GTA area (Ontario, Canada) that do shooting (airguns or guns) or are members of gun clubs? I would love to meet fellow Gursikh's in the area that enjoy shooting and know of places (indoor or outdoor) where we could shoot for target practice etc. Perhaps there is someone here that has private land or knows someone that does where Sikh's could gather and practice target shooting or even archery etc. Even an old barn. If anyone knows then please comment. Thanks. Gurfateh Ji!
  2. From BBC website At least four were Sikh The gunman who killed eight people at a FedEx facility in the US city of Indianapolis was a former employee, the company says. Police named the suspect as 19-year-old Brandon Hole, who last worked at the company in 2020. He began shooting "randomly" almost immediately after exiting his car, according to police. Seven people were also injured and the gunman apparently killed himself before police arrived, officials say. This is the latest incident in a recent increase in mass shootings across the US. At least four of those killed were members of the Sikh community, according to local media. Gurinder Singh Khalsa, a leader of the local Sikh community told Reuters news agency that the FedEx facility was known for employing members of the community who did not speak fluent English.

  5. Shootout outside US gurdwara Sacramento, California: At least one shot was fired during the annual Baisakhi Parade near a gurdwara at 176 E Pole Road in Lynden on Saturday. The police arrested a Whatcom County man after a fight broke out and at least one shot was fired outside the gurdwara. Witnesses reported that several men started fighting in front of the Guru Nanak Gursikh Gurdwara. Balwinder Singh Nagra (41) from the Bellingham area allegedly grabbed a gun from his vehicle and shot at several men. Nagra was arrested and lodged in Whatcom County Jail on the suspicion of drive by shooting and unlawful possession of a firearm. Under the state law, the term “drive-by shooting” includes shootings from the immediate area of a vehicle used to transport the suspect, the weapon or both. There were no known injuries, but the other men involved in the fight left the area. A bullet went through both the passenger and driver’s side windows of a parked white Toyota Camry in a field, about 150 yards from the event, before striking another parked car. More than 1,000 visitors gathered at the gurdwara for the parade. 6. (CNN) -- At least three people were wounded and a suspect reportedly was in custody Friday after a shooting at Santa Monica College in Southern California, according to officials and media reports. Authorities were "checking reports for an additional shooter," Sgt. Denise Joslin, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman, told CNN. The school was under lockdown. The wounded were taken to the UCLA Medical Center, Dale Tate, a hospital spokeswoman, told CNN. Two of the victims were in critical condition and one was in serious condition, she said. The gunman got off at least one shot inside the campus library, several witnesses told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS. Calls began coming into authorities at about 11:55 a.m. (2:55 p.m. ET) that there was a man holding several weapons and firing into cars and a bus near the college, Joslin said. President Barack Obama was in Santa Monica for a fundraiser just a 10-minute drive from where students have been locked down KCAL/KCBS reported. http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/07/us/california-college-gunman/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
  7. PHOENIX (AP) A gunman shot three people at a U.S. office complex after a dispute and remained at large, police in Arizona's largest city said Wednesday. The country's latest mass shooting occurred as Congress took up the issue of gun control for the first time since the Connecticut school shooting in December left 20 young children dead and changed the national conversation on guns. One of the victims was wounded critically, authorities said. Police were searching for the shooter. The remaining two victims' injuries were less severe, Sgt. Tommy Thompson said. Police do not believe the shooting was a random act, Thompson said. Authorities said police believe there was only one shooter. The shooting took place on the same day that hearings on legislation to address gun violence were convened in Washington, with former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords testifying for stricter gun controls. A gunman shot Giffords in the head during a shooting rampage in Tucson in January 2011. An elite police team surrounded a house 7 miles (11 kilometers) from the shooting scene that police said is connected to the shooting. Officers were talking to someone who was not the suspect, Sgt. Steve Martos said. The gunfire prompted terrified workers throughout the complex to lock the doors to their offices and hide far from the windows. SWAT officers searched the building. "Everyone was just scared, honestly, just scared," said Navika Sood, assistant director of nursing at First at Home Health Services who along with her co-workers locked the entrances to their office. Sood said authorities evacuated the office about 30 minutes after she first heard the popping noises. Around 10:30 a.m., the gunman arrived at the office building and got into a dispute with someone, a conflict that escalated to the point where he drew a gun and shot three people, Thompson said. Vannessa Brogan, who works in sales support at an insurance business in the three-story complex, said she heard a loud bang that she thought at first was from somebody working in or near the building. She said others at the business thought they heard multiple loud noises. She said people locked themselves in offices until authorities evacuated the complex that houses insurance, medical and law offices. Becky Neher, who works for a title company in the building, said the two gunshots she heard sounded like two pieces of metal banging against each other. Watching from her second-story office, she saw people leaving the building. "Someone yelled, 'We have a shooter,'" she said. She saw two victims lying on the ground outside the back side of the building. She said health care workers who have offices in the complex came out to help. Don Jaksa, a software consultant who works in the building, said he was listening to the radio when he suddenly heard "two pops." He said he didn't think they were gunshots. "My co-worker goes to the range all the time," he said. "He identified it as gunfire." His co-worker then locked the door. After five minutes, they left and ran into police and someone carrying a stretcher. The police escorted them back to their office and told them to lock the door again. They were eventually evacuated, and as he sat on a rock outside the complex, his wife called to make sure he was OK after seeing the shooting on the news. Workers were later allowed to leave the building. Two hugged each other when they got outside. "You don't expect this when you come to work," worker Lindsa Rincon said. http://www2.wsls.com/news/2013/jan/30/3-shot-at-office-complex-in-arizona-ar-2499461/%C2'>
