  1. Which one of these ? Pakistan wants to destroy sikhi and is throwing drugs on the indian side of border . This was shown in movie "Udta Punjab". Indian govt is aware of pakistan doing it but couldn't care any lesser because it helps keep sikhs broken and pacified so they don't do another insurgency like the 80s. Indian govt is purposely doing it so as to destroy sikhi youth and thus destroy any rebellious tendencies so as to safeguard its own territorial integrity. Badal ke are involved. Its more of a social issue than a political one . And sellouts among sikhs and gangster elements responsible for drug menace

    Ravidassia Sant

Has anybody ever met a Ravidassia Sant? They usually wear all orange/peachy bana and I believe each of the Sants have their own Deras. I went to a friend's Akhand Paath and one of the Sants from this sect was there. His family members were devout followers of this particular Sant. I know this sect tried to break away from Sikhi at one point to create their own religion due to caste conflicts I believe? But this Sant was preaching for all to believe in Guru Granth Sahib Ji and nothing else. However, at the same time, after the Akhand Paath was over, I noticed a lot of families were gathering around him and matha taking/massaging his feet. The families would also have personal questions to ask him and I caught a glimpse of the Baba ji pulling out and studying what looked like an astrology chart and giving the families answers. This is the first time I've ever seen stuff like this before and I felt like it was not Gurmat. But then again I am not the most Gurmukh person in the world either so my opinion may be flawed. My friend seemed to be normal about all this stuff so I didn't say anything out of respect. However, do you guys know if the Ravidassia Sants are legit and if their practices are in line with Sikhi? I am not sure if other Sants do this kind of stuff as well. Any info would be much appreciated! Thank you!
  3. Those images of being sawn in two , crushed on wheel , scalped alive, boiled alive, burnt alive, chopped limb by limb , etc seems very painful. Did they physically feel that pain or as one hazur sahib singh told me that they would take their consciousness in Dasam dwar and would not feel any pain. First, if they did feel the pain , then that means Guru's mercy was not with them during their death moments ? But then on the other hand if they didn't feel pain , it means their martyrdom isn't that significant ? Or perhaps I think case could be they knew they would suffer too much but still surrendered themselves to executioners , but then when the tortures began , to their surprise, they couldn't feel it .
  4. Like how the Sikh community has always had a sweet tooth for anti muslim sentiment, however half of the villains of sikh history are hindoos and there're many muslim heroes too like Peer Buddhu shah , Malerkotla nawab and so on . Its funny how blinded we 're . We were fed with tripe like "Nau maas da rishta" (the relationship of hindus and sikhs is like nail and cuticle) lol When infact the hindoos prolly laugh at your backs and use you as a convenient tool when required and throw you again in the corner of the shed when they're done . List : Lakhpat rai (responsible for one of the largest genocide in sikh history) Suchanand Gangu Chandu and many more .
  5. Sometimes I wonder the events of '84 can't go without its long term repurcussions for india. The law of karma states if you do something bad to someone, bad will happen to you. Often , the longer the time between sin and its comeback, the more the punishment. I wonder sometimes if the current political scenario of North korea vs US one one front and India vs China and some future unseen scenario could lead things to escalate such that the countries responsible for human carnage will have to payback their karma. I heard one prophecy where china and russia marches onto india . My mom used to say that elders during her time said "there will come a time when you would only see a burning lamp only several miles away" -- which to me sounds like an aftereffect of severe nuclear war. what do you guys think ? sikhs are destined to get hold over india in future ?
  6. Due to some of our youth not being that knowledgeable of the faith. They may sometimes comes across questions or queries from muslims and Christians about Sikhism. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where we can give examples of answers to Muslims questions. Will add more later. 1) If Sikhism is a true or right religion. Why does it only have 30 million followers? Answer Sikhism is a 500 year old religion. It is not a new faith but a very old one which goes back centuries. But why only 30 million? in that space of time. Why has Sikhism not grown like other faiths. Why do other not want to become Sikhs. Its is no exactly a new faith but one that has been around since the 15th century. It is because in its 500 year history, never have we tried to convert anyone to the faith. In that space of time we could have converted millions if we really wanted to. But from the very first day of faith there has never been any attempt to even preach the faith to others as we believe in freedom of faith. Not imposing our religion on others. If we preached the faith more and converted. There would easily be 100 to 150 Million Sikhs today and that is a conservative estimate. But we are not a religion that trys to convert others, that is why there are only 30 million Sikhs today and that number is people willfully becoming Sikhs. We are proud to only be 30 million.

  8. Mughals forcing islam on sikhs need not be narrated. everyone knows it , but whats not known is if Christians during british empire forced xianity onto sikhs . In other areas of india, such as goa , there were inquisitions set up by Portuguese officials , when they were ruled by portugal. But it seems britishers even though christians were opposed to such barbarism and at times intervened against it . I read somewhere that in punjab during british empire, sikh officers were promised higher pay and promotions if they converted to christianity , but is there any record of force being used , as in torture, or even attempts to undermine sikhism ? I mean something enforced by british empire as such

  10. i am 18 years old, pursuing computer engineering in a well reputed college in mumbai. i have always had cool friends and supporting parents. but, i've never been a staunch believer in religion. i always find religion to be pointless, following what some person(s) said/wrote hundreds or thousands or years ago and having to follow their rules and the way they want us to lead our lives just doesn't seem right to me at all. i've been smoking weed since a year, and quite regularly. my grades are not affected by,and i've not been as irritable i was since a long time. i never intended to let my parents know about me smoking pot, but nowadays the paranoia associated with weed is taking over the better of me sometimes because of the guilt i feel hiding it from my parents. i have many friends who smoke weed and all of them are really nice people, so why should what i do in my personal life be associated with my morality?i really feel smoking weed isn't bad for me but i don't wanna live in hiding from my parents.i am a turbaned sikh and my parents are really good role models, just that i do not believe in the same things as me. is there any way i can come off to them and tell them about me smoking the jane?
  11. I was so surprised that the Ahmediya Muslim people had a stall at the Surrey Nagar Kirtan with books on Life of Mohammed and preaching material. Honestly, please let these people know that all this does is promote the narrative by the media that muslims are fundamentalists, the fact that they would do this at SIKH parade is retarded. Phone: (604) 583-4669 Ahmdiyaa Mosque Delta There was also a Brahamakumari stall, as well, .. Just find it mind blowing that people have the gall to promote their religion at a SIKH NAGAR KIRTAN.. Do we have nimraata for others, or are we foolish? Please be kind, ask the mosque to kindly not use the Sikh Nagar Kirtan as an opportunity to promote their religious views.
  12. What if I told you that the slavery on sikh people is because of something we did not do , and that in the long run there's one quick fix to more than half of the issues sikhs face today. And that quick fix is this : 1) Higher rate of reproduction, 2) Proselytization , 3) Preaching to orphans .' 1) Higher rate of reproduction In the latest indian census, Sikhs as a group were the ones who had the lowest fertility rate. It means Sikhs are having lesser children than hindus or muslims. Not surprisingly , muslims had the highest fertility rate . Whenever I encouraged Sikhs to have more kids per couple, the usual nonsensical , condescending reply I got was one of the following : 1) Muslims are R-type species, while Sikhs are K-type . In plain words, it means we prefer quality over quantity . However the argument is rather ludicrous . Sikhs of today can't claim the good, old , oft-boasted "1 sikh = 125000 enemies" . Its a no-brainer our people have anything but quality. Would the people who make such ludicrous argument would rather be happy if Sikhs became an exotic, rare-to-be-found community like the zoroastrians . Money of all the world , but no future to look to . 2) Muslims have multiple wives , so it makes it easier for them. Ok, fine , but what about the christians rapid growth-rate in india ? They manage to get a heavy majority in many north eastern states without having multiple wives. Their sword is capturing the orphans and the needy. I have always asked Sikhs what stops us from having more than 1,2 kids per couple ? I never got a satisfactory answer. Its a fact that in a democracy your numbers dictate your political power. In every country , there're the sell-outs , the leftist who will pander to you and your needs , only if you have the votes. As the saying goes, "either be a note bank or a vote bank" . Else politicans couldn't care less about you . We see it in europe, we see it in india and elsewhere. Its a fact, when will out simple sikhs realize this ? The reason politicians don't pander to sikhs is because we hardly make a mark in their political votebank. The votebank of pandering goes like this : One would think its a common sense that the number of kids once have will have a domino effect once you go down generations , something like this : In the first case, the so called nuclear family , look at the degrading domino effect which is suicidal for a sikh population . In the second case, its merely maintaining the population. The 300% growth rate actually happens in third case If you think I am being ridiculous , lets not forget our gurus too had atleast 3 kids . Guru Gobind Singh ji had 4 children. And the sikhs after that had even higher number of children , some as high as 12 or 15. The reason muslim population is so successful and causes terror in hearts of those who wish them ill is because of their humongous birth rate. Just look at how many kids the famous saudis had , you will be shocked ! 2) Proselytization This is another place where we're totally nullied ourselves. We like to preach that we don't preach ! I guess this is another fukra symptom in our community that we just wanna sound good to outsiders, esp amongst the elite , and give ourselves an exotic feel in front of people . However the Sikh gurus themselves had manji system in punjab which were nothing but centers of preaching. 3) Preaching to Orphans Why should we not preach to orphans ? Forcible conversion is against sikhi, however if christians can raise kids under them as christian , why we despite so much money can't pull sikh orphanages to sikhi-ize kids out there. Infact we're doing their halat-palat good , meaning now and the hereafter good by raising them and preaching them sikhi. Having said this , I think there's a great probability most of those young sikh men would just cut off their hairs and turbans off once they grow up . I think sikhi by its nature is not meant to be followed by the masses, esp vast majority of men who find the uncut hair , uncut facial hair and turbans uncomfortable.
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently, there was a big protest along the Israel border, and people on both sides got killed. While the Israel-Palestine conflict isnt new, I have started to see a lot of vocal Sikhs, such as Samsher Singh (Anandpur Exile), Harman Kaur, Sikh Talk, etc support Palestine. I find it interesting how some Sikhs support palestine, yet also advocate for Khalistan. I would just like to state that I personally am not choosing a side as I feel that I do not know enough about this situation, however I will say that both sides are not innocent and have blood on their hands. On one side, Israel is occupying lang, on the other side, Hamas is refusing to even negotiate and is calling for the death of Jews. From a Sikh perspective, it is like beef to a hindu or pork to a muslim to steal what rightfully belongs to someone else, however it's also immoral to want to exterminate an entire race. I just want to make it clear that Im just asking a genuine question, and dont support either sides. With that being said, What does the Sikh Community think of the Israel-Palestine Conflict?
  14. WJKK WJKF ji, I'm an international student in US who used to be a really good student in Science. I came here to study strong fields of Computer Science which required to sell all property we had in India and also take debt. My parents only saw my dreams and sold all the property. After coming in the US, (I got into a few prestigious universities like UWaterloo) but chose an affordable one. The university is really for-money only and no education was found. I felt like cheated but couldn't do anything. I had no idea which University I should transfer to. I felt confused. I accepted it as Maharaj's Bhaana and attended this college. It's going to be almost an year. Really bad things happened with me I asked so many professors that I'm doing a research in making a device for blind people and various other interests I shared. All of them heavily discouraged me all the time. In classes, I was pointed out all the time. The professors wanted me to praise them for some reason, I felt like. All my internal peace and confident got murdered. This semester, I went through a financial hardships. I am only eating once in 2 days since the last 3 months. I've been trying really really hard to stay alright. But the professors killed all my confidence and self esteem. I have exams coming up and I'm so low I couldn't even study. Everything is failing. I have no idea what to do. I got a job but the Starbucks manager asked me to cut my beard which is hard although I used to trim it before. Everytime I try, the financial issue always comes up. I felt like I couldn't tie turban. I'm so poor after paying thousands of dollars in international & out-of-state tuition. I really wanted to ask my veer and bhenjis to please suggest me something. I'm really going through tough time. I've been in a situation where a large part of my funding is taken while returned nothing in education. I've been murdered internally. Please help.
  15. Ive seen many topis such as a sikh girl marries non sikh, a sikh man weds a gori, a sikh rapes/kidnappess(just exagerating a little).......etc a sikh means to learn and be a student...to be a student there must be an area of study for one to be a student...yes that area is atam vidiya.....common sense tells us to be a student we require a teacher...yes the teacher is guru granth sahib ji...so sikh wants atam vidya with teacher of guru granth sahib.... So..in terms of the world..a students (sikh) picks a topic(ie medicine) then gets his lecturer/teacher...then he becones a student and eventually a doctor.... in the same way unless we want to meet akaal purkh and this is our only purpose we can not claim to be a sikh and a student of guru granth sahib ji to attain mukhti.... for those who put emphasis on business and education to accumiilate wealth, call these worshippers of maya though they may have an apperance of a religious person.....

    Dad verbally abusing mum

My dad occasionally gets angry with my mum in arguments (and they always argue) and resorts to swearing at her and shouting her and my mum is defenseless. And he has in the pas the gone for me and tried to hit me when I was a lot younger. I'm amritdhari now so I have to be conscious of my actions and words. Usually when my dad does this I listen it and the first time he shouts I'll allow it but after 2 times I go and intervene but then he starts getting angry and shouts at me and at this point he looks like he's about to nuts. If has a go at me Idc but if he's having a go at my mum or sister or whoever then I can't see that happen. Can I have a go at him in return if the situation plays itself out or not? thanks sangat jio

  18. There are indications (proof) of a Sikh man in the UK who is involved in emotional, sexual grooming with women from India. There is sexual violence and abuse involved. I would like to make a report of this to a detective, or the Sikh Helpline to uncover this. Is Karma Nirvana able to help? Like other incidences of grooming, most of it is online and on the phone (whatsapp). This is not revenge or anything of the like, like the guy who was grooming kids (it was up on facebook, of a Sikh guy talking to teenage girls), this is grooming of another kind.
  19. How come our elders/community don't talk about the Chota and Vadda Ghallūghārā? It seems to me that it is not something our youth know and its not something that is imparted to us by our elders, at least that was the case for me, my fellow friends, and my community growing up.

  21. SSA all, 15 years ago I found 2 miniature paintings in an old fort. They are on paper that is 2-4 inches in height and width , with glass on top that is meant to protect them. They are now very old and the paper needs to be restored/protected. One of them is with Guru Gobind Singh Ji on a horse and the other one is of Guru Nanak with Sidhs and Pirs [more than 9 people so probably not of the Gurus]. Question of the art and history aficionados what is the earliest depiction of the Guru's in the above manner? Here are some dates regarding the fort/people that I found them in: http://members.iinet.net.au/~royalty/ips/families/jalawalia.html
