  2. My family were originally Hindus who had shardha in Sikhi. But they officially became Sikhs during the Singh Sabha movement.
  3. Gay marriage is legalized in California. How should Sikhs feel about this? I am confused. I feel happy for them that they are getting equal rights. After all, we as Sikhs have to see everyone equally. On the other hand, what if a gay couple wants to do Anand Karaj? It is not allowed in Sikhi.. Share your views P.S.. I don't want to offend anyone. If this post does not belong this forum, please advise so. Thank you

"This Muslim family come to Darbar Sahib every month for darshan. While talking to them, they told that in 1984, a sikh ( his name was Nishan Singh) running from Hindus came to their house for shelter. They tied turban to one of their son's head, who has beard, and gave him to the Hindu mob. Their son was burnt alive in front of their eyes. They started crying during this conversation. They said that they come to Darbar Sahib to thank Allah but they are devout Muslims. The roohaniat of Darbar Sahib brings them here" Before bashing other religions, please understand that TRUTH exists in every religion. At the end, God will not judge us based on our religion, but on our actions.Lets improve our actions and be what our Gurus want us to be. Consider all human race as one!!
  5. We always hear about the role of the Budha Dal in it's capacity as a parallel component of Akal Takhat and Shahidan misl, but whatever happened to the Tarna Dal during the Anglo-Sikh wars???? What actions did it undertake along with it's parallel budha dal contemporaries in order to prevent British encroachment of Punjab, and what did it do in the aftermath??? What of it's sub-battalions, what were their roles during this conjuncture????? Has their been a decisive re-writing of history under our very noses concerning Akali Singhs and their history?????
  6. Wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh What do you think the role of the Dharamsala/Gurudwara Sahib is? What was the intended role as per puratan literature? What changes can we make as individuals to allow it to achieve these goals? Wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh
  7. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I know this Gursikh couple who went to watch movie at AMC theatre in Emeryville, CA. While the Singh was waiting in line, he was racially profiled and pulled out by the security guards. He was the only one who was searched as he was wearing a Dumalla. His kirpan was not visible at that point. He was searched and his turban was patted down. They saw the kirpan and asked him to leave the theater. When he tried to give them reasonable explanation, the security personal did not listen and said ," I know about Sikhs". They had to leave and their evening was ruined :-( Now they have started this petition, please sign it https://www.change.org/petitions/amc-bay-street-16-theaters-in-emeryville-stop-banning-sikhs?utm_campaign=share_button_mobile&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition United Sikhs traceable petition http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/50846/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=11324 Thank you

  11. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh, Dear Sadh Sangat Ji, Thanks for helping me with my last gupt post....( Help! My Life, Naam Kamai And Gur Sikhi Prachar ) With the Grace of Guru Sahib ji , i have decided to do SEVA and help SIKHS living in Remote Areas of Rajasthan (Pakistan Border Area) India and SIKHS living along with Ghaghar River.... !!! PLEASE POST YOUR SUGGETION, COMMENTS about this Project !!! We will need Support and Fundraising help from Sikh Sangat. The Ghaghar River flows through Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar District towards Pakistan. This river is named Ghaghar River because it was use to flow like A women wearing Skirt doing Whirly dance. Water spins very fast due to whirly effect and it starts cutting the soil/ shores and many kilometres long land will suddenly get sunk into river water. Story of this Area : It is said that one day Dasven Patshah Dhan Dhan Sti Guru Gobind Singh ji was going through this area with his Sikhs. Guru ji and sikhs started to cross the Ghaghar river in Bedis and 40 Sikhs of Guru ji stuck in the Ghumangheri (swirling water), sunk, and died. This happened between two places known as Malla Tibba and Jhanda Tibba. Guru ji then gave Shrap to the Ghaghar river that - O River You will Dry one day, my Sikhs will come here, they will Rip your chest and they will do khethi ( farming) on your chest. River asked in reply Sachhe patshah when i will flow again. Guru ji said you will flow very occasionally. Since after that many Sikhs settled in this area and started doing farming Inside and along the river. I was born and grown in this area. I have seen countless number of farms ( even many villages) are actually inside the river flow area ( or between both shores of the river) When heavy rain comes in Punjab , they put excessive water into Ghaghar river ( it happens 2-3 times in every 5-7 years) and it supplies minerals and water for farming properties in the river. This area is Mini Punjab of Rajasthan. Coz it gives a big amount of crops (Wheat, Cotton, Mustard, Pulses, etc.), fruits like orange, sugar cans and other things to Whole Rajasthan. Sadly - There is NO GOVERNMENT SUPPORT to this area, no facilities, not very good hospitals, not good education, bad roads, even not enough volume of water is supplied trough Farming Canals due to Politics of Rajasthan government. This area is self developed by local people. When farmers put their seeds in their fields, government cuts down the water supply form many days to months. About Sikhs living in the Area and common issues: Most Sikhs are farmer. There is no Gur Sikhi Prachar in the Area, Most Sikhs have forgotten their real Values and going on the path of Patit Puna. Don’t ask about Young Generation. There is Theka (bottle shop) in every small village. But this area is far away from big intoxications / drugs. Killing of Unborn Daughters in Sikh Families is very common in this area. Rude culture / DAWRY system - Grooms Family asking for Meat, Chickens, Branded Wines, Car/Motorbikes, Cash and arrangements of Female Dancers is very common. Needs: There is a big need of Gur Sikhi Prachar and to develop personal links with Sikhs in the area. There is a big demand for a good Hospital. Closet good hospital with emergency facilities PMB (prince bijaysingh memorial) hospital, Bikaner. Which is 163kms away from Gharsana, 186kms from Anupgarh. 17. MAKE ME BLIND In the times of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, there was a very poor gursikh who lived in a hut alone. This gursikh was blind and had grown to love the guru from what he had heard. As he couldn’t travel anywhere he would find out who has gone from his village to see the guru. He would ask them, “What does the Guru look like? What weapons does he keep? What stories does he tell?” Each person would reply, “I cannot explain in words.” One night he could not sleep, as his thoughts were focused on meeting the guru. He longed so much to see the beautiful Mukh of Guru Maharaaj. He could not take it any longer and felt angry at himself for being blind. “Guru Ji, I am such a dirty sinner, I am unworthy of your darshan. I do not know what countless sins I have committed for me to suffer without you.” At this moment Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji awoke from Samadhi, and told his Sikhs to get the horses ready to leave immediately. The gursikh felt helpless and began to cry tearing his hut apart. He wanted to go to see his guru; he then made up his mind that he would go by foot and allow the guru to guide him. He packed some food and set off in the dark. On his way he tripped and fell hurting himself badly. His thoughts remained on meeting his guru as he lay on the ground. He suddenly felt two strong arms lift him up to his feet, and he heard a voice. “I have come, my beloved. I could not sleep without doing your darshan, I felt my heart pulling me towards you and I had to come.” When the blind sikh heard this he fell to the guru’s feet and could not contain himself. Guru ji again lifted him to him feet and said, “the home of Guru Nanak contains everything, ask of what you will.” “Guru Ji all that I ask of is that my eyes may work and have your beautiful darshan.” Guru ji smiled and kissed him on both eyes. When he opened them, he fell at Guru Ji’s feet upon seeing him and wept at Guru Ji’s feet. He stared at Guru Ji in amazement for some time. “Beloved I must go now, it is amritvela and the sangat will be waiting.” “ Guru Ji I cannot live without your Darshan now, what will I do?” Guru Ji replied, “The house of Guru Nanak again offers what you ask of it, one more thing.” The gursikh fell to the floor and said, “ Guru Ji if you are going to give me one more thing, then please take these eyes away as I wish not to see anything ever again after having your darshan.” A tear dropped down Guru Ji’s cheek as he granted the final wish.
  18. The CBI will challenge before Delhi High Court the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case by a city court as it has found "strong grounds" which could form basis of its petition. CBI sources said here today that the agency is likely to wait till the court pronounces its verdict on the quantum of sentence for those found guilty in the case. District and Sessions Judge JR Aryan had on April 30 acquitted Kumar in the 29-year-old case in which he was accused of murder and of instigating a riotous mob that killed five Sikhs in Delhi's cantonment area. Five others — Balwan Khokkar, an ex-councillor, Mahender Yadav, an ex-MLA, Kishan Khokkar, Girdhari Lal and Captain Bhagmal — were convicted for their involvement in the riots that had broken out after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984. Kumar, a former Lok Sabha MP from Outer Delhi who was refused a Congress ticket for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, still faces a trial in another 1984 rioting case. In a third case, the Delhi Police have filed a closure report, saying there was no evidence against Kumar to implicate him. His acquittal has led to protests by Sikh outfits in the national capital and in parts of Punjab. Legal cell on job District and Sessions Judge JR Aryan had on April 30 acquitted Kumar in the 29-year-old case in which he was accused of murder and of instigating a riotous mob that killed five Sikhs in Delhi CBI sources said the agency is likely to wait till the court pronounces its verdict on the quantum of sentence for those found guilty in the case The agency's legal department has studied the judgment and highlighted several strong reasons on the basis of which it is likely to approach the Delhi High Court challenging the acquittal of Kumar
  19. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Aam-Aadmi-Party-joins-Sikh-protest-against-Sajjans-acquittal/articleshow/19858925.cms NEW DELHI: In support of the Sikh community's protests over the acquittal of Congress leaderSajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday joined the hunger strike for a day at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi. "We are joining hands with our Sikh brothers to protest against the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar. We will join the protest of the family of Nirpreet Kaur, who began her indefinite hunger strike from today (Friday)," Manish Sisodia, senior AAP membertold IANS. In solidarity with Kaur, AAP members Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sidoda, Gopal Rai, Sanjay Singh and Kumar Vishwas will also sit on a day's fast, and later continue to support her indefinite hunger strike. Various Sikh groups have been on protest since Tuesday, ever since the verdict was pronounced. On Thursday, they staged a protest at the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Over 115 protesters were detained and later let off. A day after the verdict, on Wednesday, protesters had blocked busy roads in the national capital. Metro services were also disrupted by the protests for a few hours. The Sikh groups are angry that a city court acquitted Sajjan Kumar in a case related to the killing of five people in the Delhi Cantonment area during violence against Sikhs that followed the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi Oct 31, 1984. The court convicted five others in the case. We know both BJP(+Akali Dal) and Congress are highly anti-Sikh. We also know that more panthic parties( like SAD-A) have no chance to make it to the national stage in India, they dont even garner enough votes in Punjab. In this scenario, should Sikhs align with this new political party ( at least on national stage) which has done some good work to expose Congress and BJP's corruption in last few months-years. Obviously Sikhs of Punjab need to get rid of their association with BJP( which occurred primarily because of historic anti-Congress stance since 1984) to project themselves as a community which stands upto justice and human rights. With AAP trying to show some solidarity with the Sikhs( which BJP hasnt done ), do you think its high time that Sikhs should align themselves with AAP on the national stage( with AAP's image being primarily anti-Congress and anti-BJP and more focussed on exposing these parties' corrupt leaders.)

I been looking on youtube playlists and some of the Sikh related video's i had added are now seen as deleted quite alot of them were videos to do with Sikhs in afghanistan and others due to 3rd party copyright infringements. Anyone else noticed this? And how do we preserve important rare footage for reference and future generations.
