    Cousin wants to cut hair

So my brother doesn’t keep long hair, I do. My brothers reason is. ‘I just wanna live life, I don’t wanna follow being a Sikh even if it’s true I don’t care’. Now my cousin keeps long hair but he’s been pushed into being a Sikh. He really doesn’t know much. Now recently, My brothers been asking him ‘when he’s gonna cut his hair’ like it’s a definite thing. It seems that my brother is getting around to my cousin now and I’m asking my cousin why would u cut it and he’s staying stuff like ‘it’s too hard to manage’ like what? He’s saying he might cut it before uni or something, How can I persuade him around? I’m trying to learn myself as much as I can about sikhi but I don’t really know much and my parents personally aren’t that supportive of me, my dad actually wants me to cut my hair he has said many times wants me to ‘sort myself out’ and ‘get a nice haircut’... some people don’t understand... But I don’t know, what can I say in a small conversation? I don’t know enough really to start giving him a lecture but I know personally that sikhi is undeniably 100% the truth it makes too much sense which is why I attempt to peruse sikhi as much as I can and I will start doing more and more in the future. But he... he doesn’t know anything... I mean like I can’t just let him step away from out purpose in life like that can I? What should I do?

  7. UK "sikhs" can be a different kind of ignorant. The level of colonialism in your way of thinking is astonishing but not a surprise being that you live in the land of sikhi's infiltraters and opressors. But I digress, you guys are nothing more than evangelical Christians with turbans on. You know nothing of the Hindustan that sikhi was founded in. Only the post British India they you are used. But I'll leave u with this. The Oneness is everything and everyone. To express this level of hate and mockery towards people is to express hate and mockery to yourself and the divine. Wake up from your slumber. You have not seen God yet. Your life leaving you very quickly. You dont have much time left. Free yourself from the prison you've built yourself. I wish i was optimistic but Im not. I already know what you will say. I just have one request. Please Slander me. Please slander my love for the guru. Please slander my experience of life. Please slander me. with love, a Fellow Gay Sikh Finally two people who have some sense and share my views, bruh i agree with both of ya'll.at the same time we have other sikhs here saying u are sikh and then not accepting hukam what kind if a sikhi is that, being LGBT is hukam you can say all u want but it is hukam people are born that way, understand it accept it it is bhana, and ik my message is gonna fall on blind ears and i gonna be "disproved" in some crazy irrational way but atleast i did my part, and both of the ppl whose posts i have quoted ( i.e. posts from @hellothere and @BlessedToBeGay),i frigging agree with u 100% i wrote my reply separtely bcos the original topic was i a plae where guests cant reply,so idk, also tell me if Akaal Purakh is in every molecule of existence are us lgbt folk not part of this universe and also you listen to bhai jagraj singh ji and even to the parts where he is with the lgbtq+ community,y'all dont listen to him there do u and for those of you who didnt know daas guest singh is LGBT,he is . BAM!
  8. I regularly face situations which are too difficult for me to solve but certain "coincidences" happen that either protect me from trouble, fulfill my desire. I really believe thats its my caretaker/creator/infinite intelligence who looked after me. I feel my words are too small to be thankful but I want to be. How can I be thankful with more than just words..
  9. I have had my own reservations about this, but a cursory look at some facebook accounts, some of them in my friend list , who pretend very well that they're pro-sikh or even sikh themselves, even don the saabat surat sikhi saroop , but inside is something different. Deep inside it seems there's malignancy. Because to mislead and take elsewhere a community who is now aware of your agenda, it becomes imperative that you now play the cards very well. And historically people who wished bad upon you would study your own community, see the weak links, your own people you yourselves distanced (Bhaape, for instance) for petty reasons are wooed by the enemy camp and taken in their ranks , perhaps with a promise of giving them supremacy over you . To assimilate and destroy you, if you won't come, I shall send trojan horses - people who look like exact sikhs and even share posts on social media related to sikhi , but deep down they have affiliations which they sometimes let know unwittingly through some of their posts which show they're not what they claim to be and will land the panth in a very bad quicksand if these "sikhi saroop" nakli sikhs become common in panth and went to take administrative posts. And then there're full families of "sikhs" who are ok with being a branch of something and not a tree of itself , as sikhi was supposed to be. this is very scary . just my observation as a well wisher of panth waheguru mehere kare EDIT -- some may say I am being a conspiracy theorist and blowing things out of proportion, or perhaps even beginning to see things just now which always existed. I would love to be proven wrong on this one

  12. Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh. I am a 27 year old man living in India. I've born into a Hindu family, and have had a fondness of the Sikh religion in my initial days. Long story short, my fondness turned into devotion. A Singh suggested me to meditate on the Naam and read Japji Sahib when I wasn't doing a lot good in life mentally. Currently, I've been on it, and trying to live a life as much as per the Hukam of Dasam Pita. But I have a question, to all the Amritdhari Singh's, that how did they know it was time to get baptized ? And how is life going to be different for me if I get baptized. Bhul chuk maaf karnee. Akaal ??

(ANI / Twitter) Twenty people, mostly Sikh pilgrims, are feared dead in an accident between a bus and a train near Sheikhupura on Friday afternoon. The bus carrying the pilgrims was hit at an unmanned railway crossing by the Karachi bound Shah Hussain Express. The pilgrims were travelling from Peshawar. Police have said there were 25-27 persons in the van at the time of the accident. Pakistan railways official said railway and district rescue teams arrived at the spot to rescue the victims. The injured were rushed to Sheikhupura Hospital and some are reported to be in critical condition. The crossing gate where the accident took place was closed but the coach driver may have tried to take a shortcut instead of waiting at the crossing, which resulted in the crash, a local police official said. According to the secretary-general of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Sardar Amir Singh, the deceased belong to three or four families. The pilgrims were on their way back to Peshawar after a visit to Nankana Sahib — where they had gone to visit relatives. The convoy of pilgrims comprised two more coaches but both took another route and have been reported to be safe. Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan said that the sikh pilgrim were returning from Nankana Sahib. He also said that the injured will be provided with proper medical care. “Deeply saddened at the accident this afternoon at a railway crossing near Sheikhupura which resulted in the death of atleast 20 people, mainly Sikh pilgrims returning from Nankana Sahib. Have directed that proper medical care be provided to the injured,” Khan tweeted. Officials said the Sikh pilgrims were from the northwestern city of Peshawar, reported news agency Associated Press.
  14. I was on youtube the other day just browsing like normal. But then I randomly decided to do a search on Sikhism to see the latest videos posted using the filter button. Anyways I came across this newly posted video of a so called Sikh guy who "converted" to Islam and he makes his "testimony". I have not even watched the video to be honest. But its disturbing to see this kind of ant sikh videos. ie trying to gain more followers by using this guy to promote Islam. Anyone know about this? I only came across it a few days ago. seems like something very new.
  15. https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/punjab/abducted-sikhs-wife-appeals-to-pm-as-afghan-gets-more-risky-for-minorities-104868 Abducted Sikh's wife appeals to PM as Afghan gets more risky for minorities Nidan Singh was abducted earlier this week Nidan Singh. Photo: Twitter Tribune News Service New Delhi, June 26 The wife of a Sikh man abducted in Afghanistan has asked for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to have her husband freed and then granting Indian citizenship to her family of six. Attacks on Sikh minorities in Afghanistan have increased ever since India cast its lot with the Kabul regime in the ongoing peace talks with the Taliban. Another threat to the minorities has been the rise of an ISI-affiliated terrorist outfit. Security analysts believed it was behind the Gurdwara Har Rai Sahib massacre in Kabul to announce its presence. The abducted Sikh, Nidan Singh, is an Afghan who had moved to India for some years when the Taliban gained ascendancy in the early 90s and worked odd jobs here. It is still not clear how and by whom Nidan Singh was asked to return and man Gurdwara Tala Sahib in Afghanistan’s Paktia Province near the border with Pakistan. The wider region called “Loya Paktia” has been a Mujahideen and then Taliban\Haqqani Group stronghold since the early 1980s. Nidan Singh lived at the gurdwara where Guru Nanak was reported to have visited with his wife and children and was responsible for its upkeep, sources said. Nidan Singh was abducted earlier this week. India and other countries are worried over the shrinking of space for Sikh and Hindu minorities ever since US-Taliban talks got into high gear and India excluded itself from establishing contacts with the insurgent group. India has condemned Nidan Singh’s abduction and the government hopes the Afghan government will be able to secure his safe and early release. Soon after the May 15 massacre at the Kabul Gurdwara, former US Vice-President Joe Biden had promised to raise the annual global refugee admissions cap to 1.25 lakhs if he won the November US Presidential elections. Implicit was the assurance that some of the quota would be for Afghanistan’s embattled Sikh community. The USCIRF, which frequently upbraids India for its treatment of minorities, had described the Kabul attack as a “terrible tragedy” for a “wonderful, peaceful religious group” that has been virtually decimated in Afghanistan with just a thousand left. Its chief Senator Sam Brownback was more guarded than Biden on the issue of citizenship but has mentioned the possibility of settling them in Canada, India or Pakistan. “We’ve been inquiring, as others have, of possible places for the remaining Sikhs in Afghanistan to go to be able to be safe. I don’t have anything publicly that I could say,” he had observed.

  18. Even if one reasons he did something wrong to deserve a beating, I don't see a justification to remove his turban and drag by Kes. But I see its increasingly becoming common in arguments, that sikh guy's turban is removed from head, which honestly as we all turbaned men can agree is akin to stripping someone naked.

  21. Our Ithiaas has witnessed many assassins with amazing stories of faith, courage and revenge. Here are a few of them Bhai Mehtab Singh and Bhai Sukha Singh. After years persecution many Sikhs had left the cities and villages and started living in the forests and deserts. Governor of Lahore Zakhariya Khan appointed Massa Ranghar as head of Amritsar. Massa Ranghar made Harmandir Sahib into his palace and drank alcohol, used hukkah and had dancing girls. A band of Sikhs had left Punjab for Rajasthan and once the news of Massa Ranghars behavior reached them, two brave warriors Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh set themselves the task of assassinating Ranghar. Disguising themselves as tax payers they entered Harmandir Sahib and cut his head off with a sword. They then put his head in a bag and traveled from Amritsar to Bikaner where they stuck his head on the end of a spear and presented it to the sangat. Shaheed Udham Singh. After Udham Singhs father passed away he was raised in a Sikh orphanage in Amritsar. At a young age he witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre under General Dyer. Udham Singh traveled to England and assassinated Michael O'Dwyer who was the Governor of Punjab at the time of the massacre. Udham Singh was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Udham singh explained his motivation: I did it because I had a grudge against him. He deserved it. He was the real culprit. He wanted to crush the spirit of my people, so I have crushed him. For full 21 years, I have been trying to seek vengeance. I am happy that I have done the job. I am not scared of death. I am dying for my country. I have seen my people starving in India under the British rule. I have protested against this, it was my duty. What greater honour could be bestowed on me than death for the sake of my motherland? Udham Singhs speech at his trial: He started the speech with a denunciation of British Imperialism: "I say down with British Imperialism. You say India do not have peace. We have only slavery Generations of so called civilisation has brought us everything filthy and degenerating. known to the human race. All you have to do is read your own history. If you have any human decency about you, you should die with shame. The brutality and blood thirsty way in which the so called intellectuals who call themselves rulers of civilisation in the world are <banned word filter activated> blood . . ." At this point he was interrupted by the judge, but after some discussion he continued: "I do not care about sentence of death. It means nothing at all. I do not care about dying or anything. I do not worry about it at all. I am dying for a purpose.’ Thumping the rail of the dock, he exclaimed, ‘We are suffering from the British Empire.’ Udham Singh continued more quietly. ‘I am not afraid to die. I am proud to die, to have to free my native land and I hope that when I am gone, I hope that in my place will come thousands of my countrymen to drive you dirty dogs out; to free my country. "I am standing before an English jury. I am in an English court. You people go to India and when you come back you are given a prize and put in the House of Commons. We come to England and we are sentenced to death.’ "I never meant anything; but I will take it. I do not care anything about it, but when you dirty dogs come to India there comes a time when you will be cleaned out of India. All your British Imperialism will be smashed.’ "Machine guns on the streets of India mow down thousands of poor women and children wherever your so-called flag of democracy and Christianity flies.’ "Your conduct, your conduct – I am talking about the British government. I have nothing against the English people at all. I have more English friends living in England than I have in India. I have great sympathy with the workers of England. I am against the Imperialist Government.’ "You people are suffering – workers. Everyone are suffering through these dirty dogs; these mad beasts. India is only slavery. Killing, mutilating and destroying – British Imperialism. People do not read about it in the papers. We know what is going on in India." At this point the judge refused to hear any more, but Singh continued: "You ask me what I have to say. I am saying it. Because you people are dirty. You do not want to hear from us what you are doing in India. He then thrust his glasses back into his pocket, and exclaimed three words in Hindustani and then shouted: 'Down with British Imperialism! Down with British dirty dogs!" He turned to leave the dock, spitting across the solicitor’s table. Shaheed Satwant Singh and Shaheed Beant Singh assassinated Indira Gandhi for her attack on Harmandir Sahib, both Singhs were her bodyguards. Beant Singh fired at Indira with his 38.revolver three times and she fell to the ground, Satwant Singh then fired at her thirty times with his Sten. Indira had thirty three bullets in her abdomen. Both Singh surrendered at the scene. Beant Singh was shot while in custody while Satwant Singh was sentenced to death in 1989. In trial Satwant Singh said: "Let any part of my body, after my shaheedi ["martyrdom"], removed and used by anyone who may need. However, if you need my eyes, let the authorities tell my parents. I have no hatred for any Hindu, Muslim, Christian, neither hatred for any religion. After my Shaheedi, let no Sikh throw any rock at any Hindu. I am not in favour of any retaliation or bloodshed over my Shaheedi. If we do create bloodshed, then there is no difference between us and Rajiv Gandhi. I am Proud of the task that I did! I do ardas [prayer] in front of Waheguru ! If I am blessed with a human life, then give me a death of the Brave when I am hanged. Forget one life, if I could I would give up a thousand lives to kill dushts [thugs] like Indira Gandhi, and laugh as I become Shaheed [a martyr] by hanging…." Kehar Singh the uncle of Satwant Singh was also hanged with his nephew in 1989 for plotting the assassination Shaheed Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Shaheed Bhai Sukhjinder Singh Sukha were involved in 3 high profile assassinations. Assassination of Lalit Makkan. Lalit was a congress politician and was involved in the killing of innocent Sikhs in 1984. Both Singhs along with Ranjit Singh Gill gunned down Lalit in Delhi on July 31st 1985. Lalit started running towards his house for cover as the Singhs continued firing towards him. Lalits wife Geeta anjali and visitor Bal Kishan were also caught in the firing. The Singhs then escaped on their motorbike. Assassination of General Vaidya. General Arun Vaidya was the the chief of the Indian army who ordered the attack on Harmandir Sahib. Arun was shot dead on the August 10, 1989 while he was driving home from a market. Arun was in his car when he was shot dead by the two Singh who fired at him from their motorbike. Aruns wife who was in the car with him survived. Arun died on the spot with wounds to the head and neck. Assassination of Arjan Das. Arjan Das was a close friend of Rajiv Gandhi and had involvement in the Delhi 1984 riots. Arjan was assassinated by both Singhs on September 5, 1985. Sukhjinder Singh was arrested on 7th September 1986, while Harjinder Singh was arrested on March 1987. Both Singh were hanged on 9th October 1992. Shaheed Dilawar Singh Babbar assassinated Punjab Chief minister Beant Singh in Chandighar. Beant's regime was responsible for the death of thousands of innocent young Singhs in fake encounters. Dilawar Singh worked in Punjab police when he decided to join Babbar Khalsa. Beant was assassinated with a bomb blast in Chandigarh on the 31st of August 1995, he was blown up in his car. Dilawar Singh Babbar acted as a suicide bomber in the attack. The Backup Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was later convicted for the killing.
