  1. I have come across a few newly embraced Sikhs from Russia. It got me thinking. Eastern Europe could be the next frontier for Sikhs. Places like Poland, Russia, holland, germany ect. Eastern Europeans/Scandanavia are generally alot more open to Faith and spirituality and have a fascination with Indian faith and culture. Alot more then typical british goreh that are very far from faith and more into boozing and and clubbing. Basics of Sikhi could possible do some events in those countries to raise awareness about Sikhism. Ive met a few Europeans also in the uk and they really into learning about Indian faiths ect. Yet Sikhs would rather not fund these projects as they believe that all faiths lead to God. So why talk about our faith.
  2. So just a question, on how we think these days, do you think 'Sikhi' is Devine coming straight from Waheguru or just made up from 'Guru Nanak Ji' for me and my learnings they are one and the same. Would be interested in your thoughts.

    greeting Guru ji

Hi Redoptics posted this link on another thread: https://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Bhai_Nand_Lal_Rahitnama What I found particularly interesting was this bit: The Sikh desirous of Guru’s Darshan,Should go and have the Darshan of Granth Jee,(14)After ablution early in the morning,he should judiciously undertake its three circumambulation,(15)DohiraWith folded hands he should be seated, seeking my audience,And after paying obeisance to Guru Granth Jee, listen to the celestial exposition.(16) I just thought it was an interesting (somewhat lost?) tradition to make three circumambulations of SGGS. Is this still done anywhere?
  5. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ I'm really confused if Harnam Singh Dhumma is good or untrustworthy because some people say he is a government agent but some people say he is the right Jathedar. I also have seen a video where it says that Bhai Ram Singh (or something like that) is the Jathedar after Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji. What should I believe??? Please help me. WJKK WJKF
  6. Personally I rate it at zero, non-existent. Islam's marketing strategy is probably no.1 right now 2nd is chrisitanity because they are aggressive convert seeking abrahamic faiths. And our situation with sikhi its much worse than other dharmic faiths buddhists and hindu's who do less than us in terms or charity and have less media exposure in the west, hardly don't do anything to attract new converts but still have large appeal amoung westerners because of yoga and meditation and these two faiths have powerful state power behind them (buddhists having burma. cambodia, thailand, sri lanka, etc hindus having nepal, bali and india). Where are missionary Sikhs at? Wheres Sikhi at? Wheres SGPC at? Disgraceful

  9. From a young age I was always active within my Gurdwara commuity, and with Maharaj's kirpa and my Mahapurakh's help, I have been able to retain that and also become Amritdhari. After I became amritdhari, I developed immense love for Maharaj, which my parents were unfamiliar with, and it seems as if whenever I want do to something Sikhi-related, they become reluctant and say 'focus on your exams'. Due to me having GCSE's coming up, I wanted to do a formal ardaas to Maharaj with a granthi and I asked my mom,(after doing around 2 hours of revision), if I could go, She went "whats an ardaas going to do for you, stop with all this nonsense and do revision". Sangat Ji, I need some advice on what I should do to resolve this ongoing conflict.

    Why am i here?

Someone asked why a christian should be on this forum. A good question indeed. Many reasons. It is in order to understand your underlying contemplative experiences and thus enrich my own worship. To explore information about your faith, to ask questions about your religious intuitions and truths. I think we have a huge amount in common despite important surface differences. Eastern wisdom interests me. For many years Buddhism was my interest and i found a lot was useful but ultimately unsatisfying. I have been seeking peace and strength from many sources for many years. None gave me the treasure i have in Christianity. Only when i faced insurmountable difficulties in my life did i realise it is God i sought all along and Christ who i need. I think Sikhs know God very deeply and i feel christians can learn a lot from you. Also vice versa. Talking to Sikhs i have found astounding similarities in our journey of knowing our Creator. I am a committed Christian, this will never change. But i see no reason to close my mind to the riches of other faiths such as yours. Yes we have huge vital differences but so much common ground. I firmly believe if people truly communicate, between cultures and religions, this would become a heaven on earth instead of the horrors people do to each other in the name of religion. Our God is the same essentially. To hurt or kill anyone for their different outlook is against God's will. It is the greatest tragedy and foolishness of humankind.

    Forgiveness

Hi I am a new user. Excuse me that i am not sure i have got the tags or forum correct! I am very interested in your religion. I myself am a Christian. I believe open dialogue is healthy and indeed necessary between cultures. I would like to ask questions and am looking for what is written in your Holy Book. As i believe in all that is in my Bible and the teachings of Christ. A big subject is forgiveness. When accomplished it brings great peace. But is very hard to do! We all have pride and ego. Jesus teaches us Christians that if we ask forgiveness from our Heavenly Father, we ourselves must forgive all those who hurt us. This is fair but tough. He teaches us to love our enemies. To me that is extremely hard. But to love only those who love us is surely easy? He teaches that if someone slaps us, offer them the other cheek also. That we must not offer our prayers to God if we have enmity with anyone. So our Jesus preached love and peace. He said revenge is not the way. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. These are hard lessons. But a christian who cannot forgive cannot be forgiven by God. The closed heart is not able to receive love. My first hand experience is that my Dad was cruel and violent. He ruined my childhood and beat us all regularly especially my dear mother. When we grew up we all left. He remained alone until he got dementia and is now in a nursing home. I hated him so much. All the family does. I suffered great depression due to how my father treated us. But a few years ago i became a Christian and decided to forgive him. So i went to see him. When i saw the old sick man that he is now, i cried so much and forgave everything. I was able to love him at last through letting go of the hate. Now i visit regularly and i love my dad and he tells me he loves me. He is close to death and by the love of Jesus Christ i am at peace. All the years of pain have gone. So, where does the Sikh religion stand on forgiveness? I know you are a proud strong people. But there is a lot of war and fighting in your history. What did your Gurus teach and what do you personally believe? I want only truth and reasoned discussion please. I am genuinely interested in comparing christianity wirh Sikhi. Thankyou.
  12. The following did a lot of Parchaar for Sikhi in UK in the 1960s and 70s. Our numbers were very low then compared to now. 1) Sant Isher Singh Rara Sahib 2) Sant Puran Singh Kericho 3) Giani Amolak Singh AKJ 4) Sant Mihan Singh Nanaksar Many were inspired to take Amrit and Samagams were held.
  13. On 30 April 1877 Britisher tried to put Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple) on auction that got cancelled with the blessings of Guru Ramdas ji. Surprisingly this incident never been brought up by Sikhs since it was an act of Christians. Read full article. http://dailysikhupdates.com/british-built-gothic-tower-across-sri-darbar-sahib-1874/

  17. From certain people I was told now your marriage is over through the passing of my wife, that your ties to the family are now broken and I should not communicate, go over to the house etc. So my question is this what happens or is this a punjabi way of thought or is this taught to us through Guru Grant Sahib Ji?

    My current state of mind

I’ve been struggling with depression for years, and it’s currently really getting harder and harder as each day passes by. i reached out to a doctor who said I should be on meds but I’m only 21 and I don’t want that for me. it all started out when I was in high school and had started experiencing self esteem issues back then cause of the way I looked. I’m a kesadhari and I wish to take Amrit. My fam isnt amritdhari and my dad drinks he’s kesadhari though. Life has been an absolute struggle so far. Whether it was socializing with others, or completing my studies, or getting a job. I am getting extremely weary of this now. I have been contemplating suicide. I need answers! I recently developed severe dry eyes cause most of my work is with my computer cause I basically studied computer science and I’m really passionate about it and this medical condition now poses another challenge. I wouldn’t share much. But I have been carrying a massive weight on my shoulders which not only affects me but my parents as well if I fail. Its only getting tougher and tougher I don’t know who to reach out to. It’s a very painful phase in my life and as each day passes by I’m losing hope if it’s ever gonna get better. Idk how long can this go on. Heres what I intend to do now, I wish to go on a meditation journey and I’ll try to meditate as much as my body will allow me. I wish to receive Darshan from guru saheb from whom I need answers and help. This is my last resort. If our path is the true path, I need to meet with guru saheb and ask him all these questions that I have. Is there anyone in the Sangat has had that experience. Has anyone had Darshan of guru saheb. Please help me out here. IM NOT CRAZY! waheguru ji ka Khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh
  21. As you may be aware I created a Sikh website http://www.whychoosesikhism.com But am looking to change the domain. It would great if you could vote in the pole which you think would be the best suited for the site.
