  2. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ BREAKING NEWS: New National Archive Information Shows How The British Government Betrayed Sikhs Today National Archives released files from 1985 and 1986, including papers from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Office. We have found new documents which expose UK PM Margaret Thatcher's active position against Sikhs. UK Cabinet meetings show a hostile Sikh policy with no sympathy towards the many thousands massacred in Sikh Genocide. The Cabinet papers reveal the 1985 government's obsession with trade in India at the expense of free expression by UK Sikhs. The 1984-85 disclosures show the British Prime Minister's (and Cabinet's) active collusion with the Indian Government against Sikhs who were already in mourning over the Sikh Genocide of June and November 1984. See the documents at: http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_news/1984_sikh_genocide.html

  15. Murder hunt on after father pushed under truck while fighting off a gang of robbers Murder scene: Forensic officers in Barking Picture: Nigel Howard A murder hunt was launched today after a businessman was pushed into the path of a lorry while fighting off a gang of robbers. Father-of-two Shammi Atwal, 44, was shoved into the road as he struggled against a group of up to ten raiders armed with a sledgehammer and metal bars. The attempted robbery at his company, Glenn & Co drinks warehouse in Barking, took place at around 10.20 am yesterday. The company boss died after the impact with the truck and a post mortem is due to be held later today. Death: Shammi Atwal, 44, was shoved into the road in the path of a truck His wife, Deepa who witnessed the raid, suffered minor injuries and was said by family to be "devastated". Detectives paid tribute to the bravery of Mr Atwal saying he was defending his wife and his business. They are appealing for information on the gang, described as white men, who were armed with a sledgehammer and metal bars. Mr Atwal’s uncle Tarsem Singh, 65, described his nephew today as an "honourable hard working family man." He said: "He worked very very hard and the rest of the time was spent with his family or at the Seikh temple. "He had a good business because he was dedicated. He did charity work at the Seikh temples in Ilford and Barking. He would help anyone out. He will be so missed by so many people. He was very honourable and one of the nicest people you could meet and a wonderful father." Mr Atwal's friends today spoke of their shock while paying tribute to his heroism. Friend and former colleague, Sohan Hare, 65, said: “I’m very shocked, horrified and sad that a good man like this, who was trying to do the right thing, has gone. "He was a very hard worker for his family who was a very close friend and this is so unfortunate. He was loved by everyone.“It’s absolutely terrible. He was a very energetic, very peaceful and a very decent man who would help anybody and everybody in the community.” He added: “Some people went there who then tried to rob them, then there was a fight between the two sides, between the robbers and the people who were in [Glenn and Co], and the fight went from inside to outside. He (Mr Atwal) was pushed into the road and into the lorry. It was about ten people who tried to rob it I think.” Investigation: Police at the scene in Barking Picture: Nigel Howard Mr Atwal, from Manor Road, Chigwell, has a daughter and son, aged four and seven. He co-owned Glenn and Co, a wholesale distributor of beers, wines, ales and snacks, and supplies several local pubs, for seven years. Detective Chief Inspector Neale Baldock, who is leading the murder inquiry, said: “This was a man trying to stop thieves robbing his business. “He acted bravely in defence of his wife and managed to chase the robbers from his premises only for him to be pushed in front of a moving lorry. “People in the community know who committed this appalling and cowardly crime and I would urge them to contact my officers.” Alan Suleyman, a neighbouring trader, said: “He got robbed, then he got run over, which I heard happened after [Mr Atwal] went after one of the robbers. It’s absolutely shocking. We have had robberies here before but this is unbelievable.” Another trader, who wished not to be named, said: “I drove past not so long after it happened and there was a guy laying under the back of a lorry behind lots of police, so that’s when I knew it was really bad.” They were unable to confirm if the robbers escaped with any stock. It is understood that Mrs Atwal's purse was taken. There have been no arrests. A cordon was set up with the road remaining closed until late last night. Witnesses should call 020 8345 1570 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
  16. This is my impression of our Shaheeds speaking to those who leave Sikhi as a result of inappropriate pre-marital relationships. I have written this in a very painful state of mind reading news of Sikh girls (and boys) destroying their lives, especially after reading all those grooming news articles about what has been happening in UK. Gurmukh pyaareyo, we now speak to you This one small thing we want to get through Just so you woke up in freedom at dawn We smiled while we were brutally sawn Just so you had joys that were high priced We didn't care if our scalp was sliced Just so you relished celebrations that were grand We fought with our severed heads on our hands Just so you could thrive on this planet, although scattered We mounted those wheels to get ourselves shattered We went through that agony, we went through that pain Just so you wouldn't face them again We got ourselves boiled, bruised and burnt But can you tell us what have you learnt? You decide to quit Sikhi in the blink of an eye You shame our blood before every passerby The pleasures of the flesh have made you blind What species are you? Oh what is your kind? We held to our faith inspite of being blown We roared the Jakaare as bombs were thrown In came the enemy, and their huge tanks rode In our dying moments we defended Guru's abode Bullets hit us bad and our skin was torn Delighted we died, coz we don't know how to mourn Our foes bowed their heads seeing our determination We faced them head on, not fearing extermination But today you kids have brought us shame Please tell us this much, who do we blame? You first ruin your bodies, and then you soil your souls Your brains have become rotten, and mind is full of holes Are you really those, for whom we smiled at death? Smiled as we were losing our very last breath? Are you really those who would make us proud? Or forget about us as a passing rain cloud? For you we saw our babies getting ripped apart We didn't act clever, cunning or smart For you we happily had our skin peeled But your choices today have your fate sealed If you still have honor in the least bit Then listen to this message if you think you are fit Sikhi is what made us into all that you read We were not mere sheep, we were a lion's breed You proudly hang our images instead What use are they? To bang your head? You shame our blood, you shame our names! Your false pride will soon go up in flames! Today we are hurt, today we are ashamed This generation is spiritually maimed Gurmukh pyaareyo, we now speak to you This one small thing we want to get through You've fallen in our eyes, you've fallen from grace We wait for you to come and show us that face Mehtab Singh September 3, 2013

  18. I am a Sikh born and raised in Canada. A lot of my good friends are Muslim, and I've never had a problem with any of them. So it was really surprising for me to hear that the Sikh and Muslim communities in the UK do not get on well at all. Why is this? In Canada, we hang out together, listen to Punjabi music together and respect one another. Instead of being divided among religious lines, we are united by our common "desiness" i.e. our cultures are really similar/the same, eat the same food, same language (or very similar), same music etc... And I have heard people say that it is because Muslims vastly outnumber Sikhs in the UK and so have now turned on them, but the truth is that in Canada, Sikhs are 1.4% of the population, Muslims are 3.2%. They'res 2.5 times more Muslims in Canada than Sikhs. So what could it be?

  23. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8354977.stm I had heard that Sikh soldiers within the army had to remove their dastars during training/on field, to replace with a helmet. This was confirmed by the above article: "During his training on the rifle ranges, Rifleman Singh has to take off his turban for safety and wear a hard helmet." there are roughly 80 Sikhs in the British army. from over 100,000 fighting with their Dastars to death, to 80 Sikhs willingly replacing their dastars... this is clearly an issue for those to whom the dastar has significance. for those who see it as mere head covering, will willingly replace it for a helmet. But what about our Amritdhari Sikh wanting to join the army or already within the army? perhaps this is why the number of Sikhs is so low? or atleast a contributer. Is there anything being done about this? and legal cases etc... Pul chuk maaf ji
