  2. A simple question but say compared to other religions where there is just one main 'prophet' Why were there 10 Gurus in 'human' form? Why so many?
  3. I'm I wrong, I saw a picture of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, I called him Guru Nanak Ji, people shouted at me abs swore, am I wrong or right.
  4. Who exactly reviews english translations? As i read a lot of different versions, which is right? We really need to sort this out as it distorts the truth.
  5. WARNING: IF YOU ARE GOING TO COMMENT ON MY POSTS, PLEASE BE MATURE AND ONLY USE FACTS, NO DRAMA PLEASE Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sikhs often love to claim that their "holy book" (Ignore the Abrehamic context) was written and sealed by its founders, and Sikhs still use the same version to this day. However, there have been numerous controversies over the validity of certain passages (you all know what im talking about). Since the original Saroop of the Guru that was written by Bhai Mani Singh Ji and overlooked by Guru Gobind Singh Ji at damdama sahib in 1708 has been lost, and numerious others were destroyed as recently as in 1984 by the Indian Government (they still refuse to give some back), how will have Sikhs preserved the Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji?

  8. I've heard that reading the guru Granth sahib ji should ideally be read in gurmukhi, as the English transaltion maybe slightly distorted in terms of its meaning , and may also be rather opionated by the author who imprints the translation, is this true? I'm unable to read or understand gurmukhi and my only option is to read translation in English Also I would like to ask how all you gurusikhs maintain constant love and devotion (what kind of thoughts do you have) when reading the gurubani, because I seem to lose interest if the paath is significantly long(eg sukhmani sahib paath) Lastly is it ok to just listen to the path, or must I physically recite it? May waheguru ji bless you all.

  10. This question has perplexed for a long time. First of I'm a Sikh and cut hair and still learning and want to apologise to anybody who takes offence. Ok I do not know why One of our Guru's built a mosque for the Muslims when in their book , they dont treat women the same , they have a 50 year old profit having *** with a under age child. The only thing that makes sense, is they didn't read their book(which i dont believe) or their book has been changed so much since our Guru's time. Also why do people say Jesus is a prophet, when he us jus a metaphor for the sun? Everything Jesus has done is what the sun does, he is the SON of god. Like I said not to offend just want a discussion.
  11. Is this place an actually Sangat or is it just a forum, do we have dedicated educated spiritual Sikhs on here or all like me are manmukh
  12. So i have noticed on here, we all have very distinct versions of what Vaheguru is, even when reading the same Guru Grant Sahib Ji, even when translated in English. The way I interpret it from my understanding so far Vaheguru is everything, no upar vaala , it's just everything including you.
  13. Has anyone else read this? I did just recently and it was pretty good and made for a good read. says on their instagram and facebook that all purchases made would fund future sikh projects and make them free too - so thats great! http://thesikhwarehouse.co.uk/product/khalsa-rehatname-bhai-nand-lal/
  14. Guru was God himself right?
  15. It takes placed during the 16th century, between the well known first guru, and the last. A muslim boy, finds Guru, mysterious and wise, amongst Hindu and Muslim rule, and it is an epic tale. But I was wondering historically, between 1550-1600 were there any significant issues in Sikh history, that I would want to talk about?
  16. Hi all, Masturbation is healthy every week or so, I think, and reduces prostate cancer, so how do Sikhs view this, because I was always taught it was wrong, but surely the scientific health benefit is more important? Maybe, similar to sex, which also releases good hormones in the, but also banned by people I know. If it does in moderation and lovingly, then is it alright, with God's kirpa?
  17. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa. Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Often times I hear people say "SGGSJ doesnt say (insert topic) so it must be ok", and in the case of pre-marital sexual relations a dear friend of mine has made the same argument. My friend (non khalsa) argues that Bani specifically condemns rape, adultery, and polygamy, however isnt against sex outside of marriage, provided that both are not married to anyone, and have given consent. My friend likes to disregard anything outside SGGSJ. He brings up tuks from Gurbani that specifically mention "others wives" to support the argument that its specifically about adultery, however I would argue, the English translation is very shallow, and in the context of Bani, "others wives" is also talking about anyone who isnt your wife, and isnt limited to adultery, but also anyone who isnt married. Example 1: Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 274 ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ॥ Par Thria Roop N Paekhai Naethr || ਪਰ means other ਤ੍ਰਿਅ means wife Example 2: Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 1013 ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਜਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ Abandoning his own wife, he is engrossed in sexual desire; his thoughts are on the wives of others. Context: Its not just talking just about adultery, the English translations are limiting, generally the concept is to not covet another wife, in the context of Bani, doesn't mean you can have sexual relations with women who are not married. Our rehat and history make it clear that one cannot have any sexual relations outside of marriage. There is a specific reason the Guru had 10 forms over 200 years, it was to show Sikhs how to live and practically apply Bani, otherwise the SGGSJ would have been all compiled by Guru Nanak and there would be no long history of the Guru in his many forms. The SGGSJ isnt a rule book, and isnt going to specifically ban everything that we know is immoral. Where in SGGS Ji does it say that Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji was the 7th Guru Sahib after Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji? Why would a primary Sikh text not name him? In terms of Gurbani, when taken into context, and even compared to rehat and our history, its clear that sexual relations outside of marriage are discouraged. Do you agree with my argument? These are just a few tuks I decided to bring up, if anyone has any more, please feel free to share!
  18. What did the Sikh Gurus do for a living or for money? Did they live like kings and have people serve them, or did they work like common folks for food, money, shelter, etc.?
  19. If I follow human Gurus after Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and I believe that he gave the Guruship to others. I still respect the Granth Sahib, but I don’t follow it as a final Guru. Am I still considered a Sikh according to Gurbani? Is there anything in Gurbani saying I can’t be a Sikh? Serious question
