    Bana clothing

Hi, I was wondering if only women are suppose to wear pajami (leggings) with Bana(Chola) or if Singhs are also given the option of wearing leggings as well. Some people say men should only wear a kachera and not a pajama.
  4. Is Kurta Pajama Bana? In cold weather do you wear anything over Bana (like a jacket or something) ? I live in CA so it's not very cold.. Would it be appropriate to wear western clothing over Bana? What shoe should I wear? Punjabi Jutti? Under Kurta do you wear a banyan (undershirt)? If so what type. I understand that Guru ji wants his sikhs to present themselves like Royalty and with Grace, so (assuming Kurta Pajama is Bana) attire should be well fitting and stylish right? Is there a restriction to certain colors only? Also what are your opinions on western clothing wore by a Singh like in the picture. Can it be done right? Or is Bana always superior? Btw, I am not a amritdhari sikh. Just genuinely asking. Thanks.

    Nihung Bana help

Well I just got some nihung banas made from India but the problem is that from where the buttons end (waist level) the bana is open around the legs i.e 2 pieces which overlap and one end keep flapping about (since there are no buttons) and if doing gatka it exposes the kachera from the front due to this fact. Are their any nihung banas which don't have the central split from groin area below as i would like to get some but need some help.
  8. What should sikhs be wearing on their wedding days? Do they all have to be wearing blue bana or any bana or Kurta pyjama or what? Waheguro
  9. So as I am preparing to take amrit I will also start to wear a bana. Do I need to take amrit first? I don't want to start any arguments with anyone.
  10. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh Is it possible to wear kirpan openly in Canada, that is, not beneath one's clothing? If so, is this routinely practiced? In the UK, I've often worn it openly but in some circumstances had this partly covered e.g. over the clothes but partly wrapped by a cummarband along the waist. Sometimes beneath a sleeveless vest type jacket with half of it dangling at my waist. I've never experienced any problems and dealt politely with the odd racist. I've spent several years doing humanitarian work in the developing world and have never had to conceal my kirpan at any time. However I'm now moving to Canada and am apprehensive about public acceptance, particularly in small provinces where they may be just a handful or no sikhs at all. I wear only hand spun bana and no other style of clothing whatsoever. Can I walk down a high street without fear of being arrested or worse, shot by gun-toting police? Would it be prudent to have a prior meeting with the administration/police chief of the town/city that I plan to spend time in, to help them understand my rights? Thanks for your kind help.

  14. VJKK VJKF When did Khalsa Fauj start wearing blue bana's? I've heard different stories, some say Baba Deep Singh Ji started them and some say Guru Gobind Singh Ji started them. Obviously they weren't there at Guru Nanak Dev Ji's time so does anyone know when exactly they started? Sorry if it's an odd question, I was talking to a few friends and we couldn't figure it out.
