    a Sikhs goal

dhan dhan vaheguru satguru sri guru granth sahib ji. A Sikhs goal is to hear, see and meet Vaheguru before death. A Sikhs Duty is to do Simran with each and every breath. We should not only read gurbani, we should and we are supposed to do read it, do vichaar of it, study it, live it, and do Simran to come to the state to hear see and meet Vaheguru. What's mean by "hearing" Vaheguru? Naam=Vahegurus Voice. In the first stadium of the marag, the way to Vaheguru, Naam is the gurmantar ("Vaheguru ") . So Vaheguru spoke, made a sound and then started the establishment of this universe. That sound which Vaheguru made is called Naam. That Naam is everything,is Vahegurus voice, is in each and every living being, and everywhere. And that sound, which was made by Vaheguru can be listened. This is not a theory. It's true . Gurbani says:(search this pankti by yourself Ji) ਸਘਰਬਰਬ ।। । Sabhai ghatt raam bolai RAAMA BOLAI raam bina ko bolai re to become a true Khalsa and real Sant we need to reach doing Simran 24/7/365/366. gurbani clearly says Now search please for these panktia in a gurbani search app (for example learn shudh Gurbani or igurbani ) start doing khoj of gurbani and dont stay only reading it. ਅਪਸਸਤ Aath peher salahi srijanhaar tu ਜਸਗਧਮਹਹ ਸਗਗਮਭ jo saas giraas dheae mera har har so gursikh guru man bhavai sas giras means with breathing in and breathing out saas giraas is the first technique of doing naam simran abhyaas. ਭਪਮਦ ਗਮਕੲਤਬ bhaee parapt manukh dehuria gobind miln ki eh teri baria ਅਗਅਜਜਗਨ ਨਸਪਸਸਗਨ antar gur aradhna jihva jap gur nao netri satgur pekhna srawni sunna gur nao come to the state of doing simran antargat , jap the gurmantar with your tongue, see vaheguru with your eyes, and hear Naam (=Vahegurus Voice) with your ears antargat. ਸਸਰਦਪਠ then and only then we will have a place, find a place and get to the place in dargah, nijh ghar sahkhand So there are many Sikhs who do abhyaas, but they do it how they think it's right, they use their own Mat/techniques But a Gurmukh is supposed to leave the own Mat, and only follow gurmat - guru Di mat - Gurbani. why cant/dont we listen to Vahegurus voice currently? because of our thoughts/vichaar/phurne in our minds. the panj chor talk, argue , and trick our mind, they make us forget vaheguru, make us drunk in maya. our mind has to be pure (means to have no phurne/thoughts in mind) to hear naam. forgetting Vaheguru, having thoughts is also a paap. andar di mail kahde naal bandi? = phurnea naal, vichaara nal, te paapaa naal. So how does one do real Abhyaas, naam Simran? Saas giraas is the first technique of doing Simran. Gurbani (search by yourself for thes panktia, do khoj of Gurbani!) : ਸਦਰਸਗ ang 177 simrao din rain saas giraas Saas giraas means with our breaths. Saas =breathing in Giraas=breathing out. When we breath in /or shortly after breathing in we say Wahe. and then while breathing out we say Guru. We are supposed to do Simran with the gurmantar ("Vaheguru") only. Gurbani: ਕਨਗਚ। Kahu nanak gur mantar chitaar. Ang 186 ਸੳਸਕਸਨਗਦ , ਵਗਹਜਹਖ (these panktia are from Bhai Gurdaas Ji) when you do Simran the most IMPORTANT thing is to LISTEN TO YOUR OWN VOICE while speaking the gurmantar. gurbani pankti: ਸਸਰਗਹਧਸ ang 611 reading gurbani is NOT simran. gurbani says: ਪਮਨੳਪਗਜ , ਪਪਥਸਨਅ , ਪਨਭਬਪ। search for these panktia. theres nothing to discuss, as satguru ji clearly varify. read gurbani to learn that giaan and DO VICHAAR of it. Start doing gurbani khoj, look for the way to Vaheguru. Searching panktia is so much fun. Ask these questions to yourself: Where do I wanna go after death? To Vaheguru or back to this world where everything gets worse as we can see day by day everyday? Why I don't do Simran? Why don't I feel vairaag? How can I find Vaheguru? I have become that old, why haven't I seen and met Vaheguru yet? What's my purpose asa Sikh in life? What's my duty? Why don't I ask my guru? Does the sangat I am with, help me to reach my goal? Is that sangat only sangat or is it Satsangat? do Simran to get above the giaan through abhyaas di kmai. While walking that marag do Simran, Satsangat and Seva. Read gurbani to learn/gain the giaan, DO SIMRAN saas giraas to implement the giaan, guru Di mat. Do Simran to fullfil your ACTUAL DUTY asa Sikh. Naam=Vahegurus voice. (The precursor of naam is the Gurmantar) When i any pankti in gurbani theres the word "Shabad" , Baani" "anhat Shabad" or "Naam" they all refer to Vahegurus voice/the sound/sounds which Vaheguru makes, which resides in our hearts. simran= remembering/meditating on Naam through/with the gurmantar., washing your mind, learning how to die while being alive Sangat= group of people Satsangat= being with a gurmukh or in a group where simran is done, where its only talked about how to meet vaheguru and Naam. gurbani pankti about satsangat : ਸਕਜ।। ਜੲਨਵ।। satsangat kaisi jaaniai jithai eko naam vakhaniai. ang 71 gurbani pankti about dying while alive: ਰਰਤਪਜਪਤਜ। raam rattan tab payai jou pehle tajahai sareer . raam rattan =Naam , tajhai sareer = leaving the body. how do you leave the body firstly you need a lot of simran abhyaas, listen to your own voice while doing simran, then you will come to the state where you have NO thoughts/phurne in your mind, then you will fall "asleep" , you must have literally no any kind of thought in your mind, and then, by vahegurus grace, you may llisten to shabad/Naam (Vahegurus Voice) which then lead you to Vaheguru. you first hear and then see Vaheguru (mostly...but everything is in Vahegurus hands, Vaheguru can do and change everything and anything.) gurbani pankti about dying while alive: ਰਰਤਪਜਪਤਜ। raam rattan tab payai jou pehle tajahai sareer . raam rattan =Naam , tajhai sareer = leaving the body. gurmantar-shabad-Naam sikh-gurmukh-bhagat-sant-Khalsa. stages of simran (techniques) : saas giraas, saas saas, rom rom, ajapa jap/antargat. im telling you, your life will definetly change to the good when you start doing simran on routine and regulary basis. there is more to Sikhi than the most sikhs even amritdhaari sikhs, famous katha vachiks know. there is far more than everything we have heard yet. vaheguru. start by doing simran at least 5 minutes a day and slowly slowly increase day by day or weekly as you like. but DO simran. its not what i am telling you, its what Gurbani, our guru tells us to do every single day. these are piecses from more giaan, which vaheguru blessed me with. but these are very important. dont underestimate the things written above. its all true, written in gurbani. through vahegurus grace i got connected with gurmukhs from gurdwara prabh milne ka chao moga, vaheguru taught me this through the roop of gurbani and the gurmukhs. i reccomend to listen to the kathas of gurdwara prabh milne ka chao, visit that gurdwara youll definetly get laha, i also sometimes listen to bhai sukha singh ji uks and basics of sikhi katha. also, what i reccomend is to completely shut off using instagram, snapchat etc.. another tip is, whenever you listen to kathas of anyone, look if the things which are being told in the katha also written in gurbani, does Gurbani verify it? is there a pankti on it? does that katha help me to reach the goal, does it help me increase my simran abhyaas? are the things being told from his/her own mat, manmat or gurmat? do they make sense spiritually? I ask for maafi , if i have written something wrong or hurtful. I will not reply to any replies to this post. Wishing everyone good health, safety, naam di daat and satsangat. Dhan Vaheguru Sahib jio Waheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh.

  3. Today I see many people mix Punjabi culture things with sikhi. Like I personally think that Bhangra, giddha and other things like this aren’t related to sikhi and aren’t allowed for Sikh to do. People need to understand that being Punjabi is different than being a Sikh. Do u guys think that Bhangra and giddha r forbidden in sikhi?? I wanna hear sum more people’s vichar in this

  5. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh... Sadh sangat ji, my fiance and I are both amritdhari and want a very very simple Anand karaj. There will be a very very small number of people attending according to our list as we want it to be very basic and according to Sikh marayada, as much as possible. We would day around 10 people tops (mainly just immediate family and crossing out the rishtedaar that we don't really interact with). We have searched online and most of what we are reading is about "Panjabi" weddings and nothing constructive in regards to a simple Gursikh Anand karaj. Has anyone had a very basic Sikh wedding at the Gurdwara Sahib only or been involved in this type of wedding that can list exactly what is needed? We will not being doing things like choora, gold Kara, maiyaan and all that stuff. We just want to know exactly what needs to take place for the Anand karaj to be in accordance to Sikhi without all the fuss and usual cultural stuff that takes place. Thank you in advance. Bhul chuk maafi. Vaheguru...

  9. I got extremely curly hair that is hard to keep un tangled and un knotted. Any one got any tips for keeping curly kesh under control between washes?
  10. The foundation of spirituality as per gurmat is detachment. If the foundation of a house is weak it won't last long - similarly, if we stay attached to family , acquisition and display of wealth, looks, sensual entertainments, seeking praise from others then we will have a real hard time concentrating in our mediation or simran. Please share ! Here are some tuks that we should print and stick on various places to continuously hammer in the idea of staying "Niralam" On the dressing table Lakẖ taki▫ā ke munḏ▫ṛe lakẖ taki▫ā ke hār. Those bodies on which they are worn, O Nanak, those bodies turn to ashes. and (to remind us of approaching death and detaching from this body which is nothing but dirt , and garnering praise from people that we are still young) Je jarvāṇā parharai jar ves kareḏī ā▫ī▫ai. 11. What is gurmat - if we want to find the essence of this great philosophy , we should understand the message that guru nanak set out to preach in his udasis. He did not call for a certain look (hair ) or any rituals (like akhand path , chavar) , instead his message was simple - to merge with God we must develop the qualities of god i.e one must become nirbhao, nirvair, niralam (detached) Vin gun keete bhagat na hoi. Also he did not start a 'religion' and never advised anyone to convert from one organized religion to another. His message was universal and simple -to jogis, hindus, sidhs and Muslims - the gist of which was rather than focus on external symbols such as ashes on the body (as worn by yogis of the time ) or the clothe used by muslims for navaz called musala , one should train ones mind to embody the spirit of these symbols Mihar Maseeth Sidhak Musalaa Hak Halaal Kuraan || Let mercy be your mosque, faith your prayer-mat, and honest living your Koran. Saram Sunnath Seel Rojaa Hohu Musalamaan || Make modesty your circumcision, and good conduct your fast. In this way, you shall be a true Muslim. Karanee Kaabaa Sach Peer Kalamaa Karam Nivaaj || Let good conduct be your Kaabaa, Truth your spiritual guide, and the karma of good deeds your prayer and chant. Thasabee Saa This Bhaavasee Naanak Rakhai Laaj ||1|| Let your rosary be that which is pleasing to His Will. O Nanak, God shall preserve your honor. ||1|| Sadly the way sikhis is practised today is very different from guruanank's mission , we emphasize empty recitation and external look rather than fighting with a mind which has enslaved us and causes nothing but suffering for ourselves and people around us .
  12. If one wants to grow spiritually, as per SGGS the following are needed 1. Udam - effort for instance one can start waking up 30 minutes before one's usual time to do waheguru jap or breath meditation, also keep bringing the focus on naam simran throughout the day Oudham Kar Har Jaapanaa Vaddabhaagee Dhhan Khaatt || Make the effort and chant the Lord's Name. O very fortunate ones earn this wealth. 2. Detachment from the worldly affairs - We are always engrossed in thoughts about wealth, seeking approval, improving the conditions of our own and family members, etc, however a clear understanding that these are not the goal of our life will help us keep our mind focused on naam. Grih Mandhar Sanpai Jo Dheesai Jio Tharavar Kee Shhaaeae ||1|| Households, mansions and wealth - whatever is seen, is like the shade of a tree. 3. Rehat / Sheel - rehat is a word usually used only for amritdharis but in fact this should be applicable to anyone who claims to be a sikh - the real benefit of a life of virtue that one can go deeper into simran with much less wandering of the mind. At the minimum the following precepts should be observed (i) Earn only by honest means (haq paraya nanaka us sooar us gai ) , live simply and share with those in need.(ghal khaye kich hatho de nanak rah pachane soi) (ii) No sexual misconduct (not even rolling in thoughts of lust ) ( par treya roop na nekhai naitra) (iii) Right speech - no lying, slander, harsh or useless talk (such as about politics, movies, religion etc) (iv) No harm to other beings (v) No use of intoxicants. Human life is extremely rare we must not lose track of the final goal of this precious gift.
  13. I read this by Bhai Kulbir Singh ji and it is clearly shows that evolution is against Sikhi. "I read the theory of evolution many years ago and one of the notion it preaches is that species can evolute to higher species e.g. humans have originated from apes. This theory does not seem to be according to Gurmat because all the 8.4 million life forms were formed at once and not through evolution. Some life forms may be active and some dormant, at a given time but no life forms converted to other life forms. It just can't. Dogs cannot give birth to cats and insects cannot give birth to lizards. The human form has Dasam Duaar, Nabh Kamal, that no other life form has. If we believe in theory of evolution, we will then have to believe that Dasam Duaar and Nabh Kamal were products of evolution and formed itself. Furthermore, matter is not animate and as thus does not have intelligence, nor it can think or plan. The theory of evolution is totally contrary to Gurmat. In the evolution theory, matter is intelligent and in Gurmat theory, matter is dead. The evolution theory as invented by Charles Darwin and as propagated by science today is not in accordance with Gurmat. Gurmat believes in the evolution or devolution of the Jeev-Aatma depending on its Karma but the life-forms or the species don't evolve into something else. Gurbani says that the whole creation has 8.4 million life forms (life forms or Joonis are not same as species) and this has been the truth from the beginning. At any given time there have been 8.4 million life forms. If we believe that one life form evolves to another, then there would be an additional life-form thereby violating the Gurmat principle that states that there are fixed 8.4 million life forms. These Chaurasi Lakh life forms not all active at any given time. Some are dormant and some are active but all are existent at any given time.Gurmat does not promote the idea that humans have evolved from Baandars (monkeys). Jo kichh paaiya so ika Vaar. The kids brought up in Western countries have become Mutaasir (influenced) by the modern education that promotes such anti Gurmat notions like evolution and homosexuality etc.ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਘਟੈ ਨ ਵਧੈ ਉਤਾਹਿ ॥The above Pankiti clearly states not only that there are 8.4 million life forms but also that this number does not go up or down. There are more such Pankitis as well but for a Sikh just one Pankiti will suffice. Now if we believe that one life-form can evolve or devolve to something else, then we have to accept that a new life-form has been created and this will violate the above Hukam of Guru Sahib.I am not an expert on the evolution theory but know that one of the claims it has made is that humans have possibly evolved from Baandars (monkeys). The human life form is very special and as per Gurbani this life form is the doorway to Vaheguru and only in this life form it is possible to meet Vaheguru and for this reason this body has secret Dasam Duaar or the mystical tenth door. How did the genetic mutation or whatever it is called, caused to create a life form that contains something as specific as the Dasam Duaar? It is the Jeev-Aatma that goes through different life forms and but the life forms don't evolve to different life forms. A cat is going to stay a cat and will not become a dog, no matter what. Yes within the parameters of the cat life form, it may become large, small, Black, White etc. but it cannot become a different life form. What to talk about and trust science that changes every now and then. Now with the discovery of the so called "god particle" it has rendered many old theories obsolete. The theory of evolution is just a theory and nothing else. Most of it including its concept of the survival of the fittest is garbage. According to Gurbani, Vaheguru is Deena Naath and Ghareeb Nivaaz. He would never allow the survival of the strong just because of their strongness. He according to His will may many times let the biggest underdog to survive and let the fittest perish. Darwin's evolution theory is for Manmukhs who believe that Vaheguru jee is not leading the world and that it came into being and evolved to this level as part of some accidental chemical reactions. Can we believe such nonsense when we know that even a leaf does not move without Vaheguru's will?Kulbir Singh" we should be telling this to more people and not just agreeing with whatever scientists say. The theory of evolution is nonsense when you think about it and I'm going to link some videos about it and how it is false and how this directly proves an intelligent designer Even further, apparently even if evolution were to be a viable process, it would take longer than it takes the sun to burn out. And that doesn't even account for Dasam Duaar etc. Be aware of these theories and know that they are wrong.
  14. Daas has started a site with gurmat quotes - feel free to log in and provide feedback, feature suggestions etc. http://quotesdev.us-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com Working on a smartphone app which will prompt users with a tuk every hour. Also coming raag music with shabad expalantions and networking with fellow minded gurmukhs. In phase 2 will make a chatbot where you can discuss your problems with the guru.
  15. Looking for tech savvy sevadars - I want to get an app developed in ionic or react native (that works on all major platforms), that would notify every 1 hour (or another interval configured by the user) with a gurbani quote and small blurb about how to incorporate the teaching in their day to day life. I do have the database of about 70 tuqs for now but will keep updating it regularly , the app will update its database from the central source every week or so. This way technology will help us stay constantly in touch with the guru and we will spend more of our breaths in a connected fashion.
  16. We must practise this every morning - throw away the wrong notions of =- Being a separate self, Ek Mool na boojhan Aapna unhonda aap genaende || difference between human and non humans, difference between living and nong living and A life limited by birth and death - Na kich janame Na kich mare || First is the idea that I am this body, this body is me or, this body is mine and it belongs to me. We say these things based on the notion that I am; But a better statement would be, I inter-am. Its closer to the truth in the light of interconnectedness; we see there is no separate self that can exist by itself. You cannot exist without your parents, your ancestors, food, water, air, earth, and everything else in the cosmos. By looking deeply into the nature of reality, we can throw away the notion. The second notion the Diamond Sutra advises us to throw away is the notion of person or human being. When we look into the human being, we see animal ancestors, we see plant and mineral ancestors. A human is made of non-human elements. If we take away the non-human elements, the human being would no longer be there. This is the oldest teaching on deep ecology. In order to protect the human being, you have to protect what is not human. Discriminating between human and nature is a wrong view. The third notion is that of living beings. We distinguish living beings from non-living beings. We distinguish humans and animals from plants and minerals. But looking deeply into living beings, we see elements that we call non-living beings: plants and minerals. You can see that plants and minerals are also alive. After meditation we see there's no real frontier separating living beings and so-called non-living beings. The fourth notion to be thrown away is the notion of life span. We believe that we are born at one point in time, that we shall die at another point in time, and that in between is our life span. Most of us believe we'll spend sevety, eightly, nnety, one hundred years on this planet and then we'll be gone. But when we look deeply, we see this is a wrong perception. In our mind, to be born means that from nothing we become something, to die means that from something we become nothing; and from someone we become no one. But a cloud cannot be born; it has come from the water in the rivers and oceans, and dust and the heat of the sun ha

  19. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Found this article, and I do think it relates to some things going on among Sikhs today. As much as 70% of Thailand Sikhs have Non-Sikh names there. http://m.timesofindia.com/city/chandigarh/sikhs-adopt-thai-names-to-gel-with-local-populace-in-thailand/articleshow/59994438.cms
  20. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I made this thread as a way to give my own personal tips on how someone can limit the influences of massive increase in Kaam, these being pornography and masturbation, (Note: not doing these 2 does NOT mean you beat Kaam, but that's where the problem is started.) This is also the male version of the problems, I don't know the causes of females going towards these things, so I won't discuss too much on it, but; hopefully I can assist them as well. Also I'm not an expert on any of this stuff, just felt the need since it's a big topic to provide legit assistance. I will be adding more on, the first post is just intro. Some important things to note: 1. Why does someone have Kaam? Since the beginning of time, you have been carrying the power of Haumai, and from Haumai comes the 5 evils, one of these being Kaam and Kaam especially effects us, because of we have usually wanted to stay productive with reproduction and so in possibly many animal lives, we've been having sex like crazy people, these traits carried on till we became human, (which in a way tells us why some people have crazy fetishes). 2. Is Masturbation and Pornography related? My experience on this has been that they are only slightly related, but the reasons for them are different. Porn acts as a depresent; which means it's meant to take something from you; while masturbation happens due to circumstance-based. You can do both exclusively, but due to the nature of porn both usually go together. 3. Is there hope? This is the good news, and something we can be grateful for. That is the blessing of the greatest Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji holding our hands and freeing us from all our past deeds, and gives our life true meaning instead of being Ghulamis to our own problems. The greatness of being a Sikh can not be comprehended into normal thoughts or words, and even Kaam himself surrenders at the name of the blessed Guru. This is just a tiny intro on the basis of the issue, I plan to delve further into it, what my experience has been, why it's not going to be easy, and why there is hope for anyone if there can be hope for someone like me.
