  1. Andrew Wu Sports Writer Monty Panesar was the victim of an alleged racial gaffe which led to Cricket Australia sacking the ground announcer midway during England's game with the Chairman's XI in Alice Springs. Traeger Park ground announcer David Nixon, an ABC employee, was given his marching orders by CA shortly before lunch on Saturday after introducing Panesar, who is a Sikh, in an Indian accent. "Cricket Australia deemed the conduct of the PA announcer as inappropriate and as such he will take no further part in the match," said a CA spokesperson. It is understood England officials played no part in Nixon's removal nor is Panesar believed to have heard the comment. "It was something we weren't aware of to be honest, we didn't know anything about that," said England's captain for the game Ian Bell. Nixon told Fairfax Media: "There's too much riding in the town on the success of this game to make this an issue about me." Nixon's style had raised eyebrows on Friday when he gently mocked Joe Root, who later spent periods off the field with an upset stomach, for calling a drink while batting in the heat. He was also cheeky with the home side, calling Michael Beer into the attack by saying "We're going to have Beer before lunch". Ironically, one of the PA's jobs during the game is to remind spectators of the ICC's anti-racism code which warns fans that "racially abusive comments and actions will result in ejection from the ground" and other sanctions. 2. Monty Panesar's England career on the line after cricketer fined for urinating on bouncers Monty Panesar’s international career is on the line as England seek an explanation for his behaviour outside a Brighton nightclub which led to a police fine. Monty Panesar received a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly. Photo: Getty Images < > 1 2 By Nick Hoult 7:48AM BST 07 Aug 2013 Panesar accepted a fixed-penalty notice from police after urinating on nightclub bouncers at 4am on Monday. The incident happened after the 31-year-old spinner was thrown out of the Shoosh Club in Brighton following complaints from a group of women about his behaviour. Panesar’s county, Sussex, launched an investigation yesterday and will report to the England management who have become increasingly concerned in recent weeks by reports of his behaviour on and off the field. If Sussex suspend Panesar, the action will be supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board, but there is also a realisation that he could need help and support, which would be provided by the Professional Cricketers’ Association. Andy Flower, the England head coach, is a stickler for discipline and will not be happy that a player who was part of the England squad as recently as the Old Trafford Ashes Test last week, has been in trouble with the police, particularly for “drunk and disorderly” conduct.
