    Struggling with Rehit

Hi all, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh little background to provide context, I was mona and clean shaven my whole life but began keeping kesh around 7/8 years ago at the age of 24 I believe, I wasn’t wearing a dastar and was rolling around with a high bun like it was for fashion, a few years in I began trimming my beard and continued like this for a few years but recently I have stopped doing this and my beard is quite long and has the natural look now. I don’t do paath or nitnem all I do is listen to kirtan and paath at the moment. Since I became keshdari again I decided to practice rehit by wearing panj kakkars so have been doing this for the past week, ever since coming into sikhi I’ve wanted to take Amrit but just didn’t have the strength or discipline for it but felt like now was the closest I have been to being able to do it but now having practiced rehit for a few days I feel like it’s really hard and I might not be built for it, I’m afraid of taking Amrit and not being able to keep up my rehit, can anyone give me some advice or hopefully someone has been in the same position and can provide their view point on this Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  2. Today I see many people mix Punjabi culture things with sikhi. Like I personally think that Bhangra, giddha and other things like this aren’t related to sikhi and aren’t allowed for Sikh to do. People need to understand that being Punjabi is different than being a Sikh. Do u guys think that Bhangra and giddha r forbidden in sikhi?? I wanna hear sum more people’s vichar in this
  3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh sangat. Right now I am 15 years old, my elder sister took amrit when she was 18. Maharaj blessed me with an understanding early so I really want to take amrit. In where I live, it's lockdown again till December. So during this lockdown, I have done an ardaas to be closer with guru maharaj ji. Maharaj does his kirpa and I wake up for amritvela almost every day. I refrain from eating meat as my mother does not cook meat in home as well. Maharaj has been doing great kirpa on paapi like me. I also have been practising to tie a dastaar though it's taking time and sometimes there are obstacle. Like I have one right now. But with maharaj kirpa all problems are resolved. When I first started to keep a rehit, I did not think of taking amrit. Like I did not want to imagine big stuff without moving forward. Now, I am thinking of taking amrit. I am not really open to any of my family members and it's all maharaj kirpa that I have open up to my family of tieing dastaar. My family obviously doesn't know that I want to take amrit next year. How do I open up to them. I always find difficulties to open up topics that are rarely spoken in my home. And any pyaare sangat are willing to give their advices and suggestions or maybe help me improve my rehit or anything at all. Please keep in mind that I also have to go school so any advices for a person who wants to take amrit while still studying in school. While writing this, I have done so many mistakes please forgive me dear sangat jio. Thank you so much.
  4. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, I am leaving for the U.S Army in the next month (basic training for 10 weeks at a fort where I will be cut off from the rest of the world). So I wanted some tips on how to keep practicing Sikhi in an environment that is not so conducive to it. I'm having paperwork done to get the religious accommodation to keep my kes, dari and wear a dastaar. So that exception will be made (which is my biggest relief) but I have so many other questions! I would really appreciate the help from anyone but especially those who have been through the military or army basic training specifically. -How do you care for long hair when you have minimal time/products? -How do you wear a kachera when doing athletic activities all day long and wearing thick pants over? Did you wear one? I really want to but I also want to be practical. Are there special types of kachere sold? Like athletic ones? -Does anyone know of someone who has personally been through basic training and done the gas mask test with their beard? Was the mask seal adequate enough or did it leak air? -On Sundays everyone is allowed to attend a religious service, they have many available but have to make special accommodations if they don't have what someone needs. (They don't have Sikh services so they'll have to make one somehow) How does that work for Sikhs? Do have some granthi or parcharak come? Would they let you go off-base to Gurdwara? If they can't accommodate me then I'm thinking of just attending the Contemporary Christian services so I can sing God's praises there because I heard out of all the options, they sign the most. -How is the vegetarian food? I know MREs come in veg option. How was the overall experience? -Kirpan? Did you wear/bring one? Gatra? If they don't allow it then could I just ask them to issue me one of their approved military tac knives? -Dastaar? What kind of cloth, is it the typical kapra? Do they issue you one or expect you to buy one separtely that matches the camo pattern of the uniform? -Gurbani? You can't bring any books or text with you except for a religious or holy book, so I recently bought a Gutka that I want to bring. Will I even have time to read it? I bought a big one with like 10+ Banis, should I just bring a smaller 5 Bani Nitnem instead? This is my first Gutka ever since I normally just use phone apps, but we will get our phones taken away the first day, so a Gutka was necessary to buy for me. How should I treat it? I keep it wrapped in cloth when I'm not reading it, I know it's not exactly our Guru Granth Sahib but I still want to respect it correctly. What are the rules on how we treat Gutkas? How do you do this while traveling or away from home? Any other tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
  5. Vjkk vjkf ji! Sangat ji I was just wondering why the maryada at harmandir sahib has maharaj jis saroop sitting on only the peedi sahib. In most guru ghar there is a takhat and then a peedi sahib on top where maharaj sits. Is there some ithihasic or maryada as to why it is done this way? Didn't mean to offend in anyway, just curious! Bhul chuk maf karni ji _/\_

    Amrit and Rehit

WJKK WJKF. I want to take amrit to try it and see what it's all about but I don't think I can keep rehit and not sure I entirely want to. Would I be allowed to do this? And when is the next amrit sanchar in London Gurdwara.

  8. Just Read this today , looks like mud is being slung again but this time on SRM and Akal Takht https://www.facebook.com/1243366095693015/photos/a.1243371312359160.1073741827.1243366095693015/1332179263478364/?type=3&theater
  9. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh Sangat ji last year daas met a Gursikh who's in full bana and also has Maharajs saroop at his house. We became good friends. He's older in age. Im relatively young. At first glance he seemed he was really disciplined in rehit. He kept and still keeps extreme sucham. But over time a lot of things have worn away. It seems as if there was a blaze that is slowly turning into smoke. Then when I started to know him more he revealed that once he made a sookham mistake thats not a bujjar kurehit and still needs to pesh. All his family is Amritdhari. I've seen him as mellow as you can get but also bursts of anger at times. Sometimes I get this feeling that there is a persona he has acquired by doing all the things that Taksali Singhs do and deep inside there's a different person. But then I tell myself he has Maharajs saroop at home and its my mind that's making up things. I really feel im dealing with two Different people. And there are moments when he's like you never call me when we would've shared fateh the day before. My concern is khalsa ji that im finding it harder to say no to him when it comes to eating at his place. Rehit maryada says not to eat at someones house when the person is not rehitvaan. I think he knows that too but he also has this daasa bhaav where he's constantly looking to help out others. Im realizing that im a completely different person around him and share almost everything and can't keep things to myself. Its as if he has some power and can guess or read what im thinking. Maybe someone can help me out. I feel as if im being mesmerized into some spell sometimes. I know I should stop eating from him but I feel my soul and zameer is not what it used to be and I need someone to like hit me with a teer or something to wake me up from this slow drowning. I don't think he has any bad intentions but from inside he's definitely not a complete Taksali Singh. If I in anyway have slandered this Singh or misjudged him I hope Guru Sahib can forgive me and guide me at the same time. Please share your thoughts. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh!

wjkkwjkf, I am a middle aged man just taken Amrit. I do nitnem daily but last night a bajar kurehit happened in my dream. I happened to be with another woman (unknown) . Guru Gobind Singh ji said not to share bed with other women, not even in dreams. What will happen to me? I am scared. I am sinned. Will Guru ever forgive me for this paap I have done?
