    Reincarnation and Sikhi

VJKK VJKF Recently I have noticed people stating that reincarnation is not a sikh concept. They most often state shabads stating that you act like animals in the 84 lakh join while you are alive if you do not meditate upon Vaheguru. They say Shabads such as the one that states the different life forms you go through if you die in certain thoughts such as dying in the thoughts of mansions and houses you get reincarnated as a ghost are metaphors. I am confused about this topic so could anyone explain?
  2. So more studying, now the reincarnation process is it actually what we will become after passing or are we talking about our mind is constantly being reincarnated. Acting like an i.diot, your mind is reincarnated into a donkey, thinking about sex all the time, your mind is reincarnated into a dog etc. As nobody knows what happens after death.
  3. Quite a good documentary, especially the first episode which is about NDE and the last episode which is about reincarnation. Episode 3&4 are a bit odd. Their about ""mediums" people who give you information about your dead relative by communicating with them. Worth a watch if you have Netflix.
  4. Anyone else read this book? It's about a Psychiatrist who find out about past lives through treating a patient. Here is a pdf: https://www.sikhawareness.com/files/file/45-many-lives-many-masters/
  5. How many times are we reincarnated until we become human again, also is this just Earth are are we reincarnated on different planets etc.

  7. If we knew about directly about our past lives how different would life be? Would we be more understanding of all the difficult times we face and the lessons we must learn? Or would it be too dangerous for our psyche to know about all the relationships we have had with those close in our lives in the past?
  8. Iv heard that we get a chance to be in human life with lots of good karma, but before this we must of been in the form of an animal then, does that mean we did good deeds in the animal form in order to be a human in this life? How does a animal do good deeds? Or is it good karma from a previous human life from another yug? I don't understand how it works Thanks
  9. Why is it that we have been placed in this cycle first of all? Was there a fall from grace similar to the Abrahamic religions? I'm curious to know if this is addressed within Sikhi?

    dogs reincarted sikhism

Our childhood dog passed away at the hospital, he was a close family member. As far as I understand dogs become human once they are reincarnated in Sikhi. So does that mean we should celebrate and not mourn the death of our dog(brother) since he is now given the chance to become human? what do you guys think of dog death, and what is the best way to pray and hope for his best in future. thanks
  11. I feel I can be close to God but I am very far off so I might be a Gurmukh in my next life? What can I do to be with Waheguru when I am destined for reincarnation?

    Doubting Sikhi

Hello, I believe in God but not in the concept of Nirgun and Sargun. How can Sikhs call themselves "monotheistic" and then basically worship the Gurus? If the Gurus were all divinely guided, then why did many of their own sons try to establish their own religious sects? If reincarnation is true, then what did the Jews do to deserve the Holocaust, or the Bengalis for the famine of 1943? If they got justice by suffering for their past sins in this life, then we shouldn't feel sorry for them because they deserved those horrible things. Do you believe the universe and our souls are eternal, that is, without a beginning? If Sikhs were meant to show guidance to the whole world, how come they can't even enjoy superiority in their own land of origin?
  13. Sri Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Sri Waheguru ji ki fateh I recently came across a website promoting Stephen Blake's book in which he has refuted reincarnation by using mathematics and logic. Another problem highlighted by him is that if the souls are reincarnating, how come there is an increase in population (where are the new souls coming from) Since Gurbani supports reincarnation, Muslim websites are using this book against Sikhi. Does any one has mathematical and logical rebuttals against this book?
  14. I came across this video, a Muslim discourse about the concept of Reincarnation, I found it interesting as it is a respectful refute against Reincarnation without mocking or belittling the Dharmic religions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nhkquy9KAA The salient points from the Imam are: Not being able to remember our past lives and the mistakes accumulated, hence how can we learn from our mistakes and ensure we don't repeat them. Surely this is unjust and that if Reincarnation was real then we should be able to remember our previous deeds. An evil doer who is given a life of a worm or bacteria in the next birth cycle, these are not biological entities that have free-will hence how can they perform good deeds to move back up the Reincarnation cycle. He acknowledges what we call the age of Kalyug, and the very many terrible evils that are occurring across the globe, with so much evil in the world surely the number of humans should be going down in population and the number of animals up, when in fact the reverse is the reality He does however agree with the concept of constant spiritual rebirth in one human lifetime, whereby a person overcomes the challenges of I guess what we call Maya and the 5 Chor in the same lifetime. What are the Sangat's views on these points the Imam has made? I believe I have sound counter-arguments of my own however I would like some of the more enlightened members of the forum to put across more eloquent answers to a complex topic. Rab Rakha

    Losing Faith

My brothers and sisters. Recently I have come to have some doubts about the existence of God. This is because of many reasons. First of all, I see many people who do evil acts, are hateful, deceitful etc. seem to prosper and be rewarded in this life. On the other hand, I have seen many righteous people who have done no harm to others. They seem to suffer with illness, crime, early death etc. I know there are several theories eg past life, reincarnation and karma and that god supposedly gave us all free will. But the fact that people say don't worry it was probably something from a past life that caused suffering or that the unrighteous will be punished in their next life does not reassure me. First of all there is no proof at all of these things and surely if there was a just god. He would hand out punishment and reward in this life for those deeds committed in this life. If someone could restore my faith somehow I would be very happy but it doesn't look promising right now in my current state of mind and after trying to find answers elsewhere I have only lost more faith. What are your views.
  16. I posted this a while back, but it's hard for a lot of atheists in the guise of Sikh appearance to digest.
  17. muslims and christians believe the world comes from adam and eve and they were made from clay. What does sikhi say about this? Don't we believe in evolution and millions of life forms? This question has been on my mind for some time. Sikhs have told me we do come from clay so this is why im confused.
