  1. heard this today and wondered if anyone knows more about this ghatna/kautak
  2. I know some people will think i ask a no-brainer question. Everyone knows what simran is. Or do we know? I wish to start each day of mine now with simran at amritvela. This is the best thing one can do and its merits are eulogized again and again in sggs. But some say simran is reciting waheguru, waheguru. Others will say just parroting isnt enough.you have to listen deeply. Yet others say they focus ob third eye in trikuti when meditating. Yet some others say simran is not physical but more mental, simply remembering waheguru at all times. Whatever simran maybe in true sense, its more powerful than all nuclear bombs. Guru sahib even goes to say that one can't describe the "gati" of one who believes this way. To see the wonders of simran go no further than ashtpadi one of sukhmani sahib. This wonderful baani in its first octet describes the wonders and fruits of naam simran , 8 nidhi, 18 siddhi, etc. I wonder why so many who claim to do naam simran don't get them. ?

But one day it was first time when i did Sukhmani Sahib, i fell in love with this bani. But because of my busy student life, i am confused. 4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgSUPTr8hi0 Here Gyani JI discusses Ashtpadi 9 which has confused many Sikhs, he also explains the meaning of Pauri 2 within it (regarding the meaning of Vishnu) and how it refers to Akaal Purkh and not the Deity.
  5. This is what I call ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਣੀਆਲੇ ਅਣੀਆ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ. Keep on in the background whilst working or read along In hindsight this could be added to the favourite kirtan post, so if the MODs would like to move it, please do..

    Sukhmani Sahib In House

Hi I am hoping to hold a Sukhmani Sahib paath at our new house soon to receive Guru Ji's blessings. I have never done this before and so have a few etiquette-related queries. I would be grateful if anyone has the answers or could point me in the right direction. How is the SGGS Ji brought to and taken from the house? Does someone from the house need to carry the SGGS Ji or will the Granthi Ji do this? What rules are they regarding having Guru Ji in the house? I assume there should be no alcohol/meat/eggs in the house and that the house should be clean. As for the langar and Karah prashad, should this be cooked in the house or in the Gurdwara and then brought over to the house? Many thanks in advance

  8. If maharaj does kirpa on this task,i be sharing in next couple of days some deep gnosis behind sukhmani sahib gurbani divine couplets: ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਜਾਗਤ ॥ ब्रहम गिआनी सदा सद जागत ॥ Barahm gi▫ānī saḏā saḏ jāgaṯ. The God-conscious being is awake and aware, forever and ever Bhramgyani is forever awake/awareness, He/she may appear sleeping but they never sleep. What sleep is five senses but they are turiya pure awareness witness/light which supports all three states- jagrat, suuponan and sukhopat. Sant mani singh gives indication or ishara of bhramgyani state which is pure awareness (unconditioned/choiceless/effortless awareness). This enlightened/jot-light knowledge- awareness is within each one of us, at this very time at this moment, waiting for us to recognize itself, realize it.

    Paath

Sangat ji, When I started doing Sukhmani Sahib it would take me almost 1 hour and 40 minutes to do one paath. Slowly, the time decreased to 1 hour then 40 minutes and now I can do one path in 35 minutes. Hence, I try to do 3-5 Sukhmani Sahib in one sitting. Is that ok? Or I should do one paath in 1 hour or more and hence do less path. When I try to make myself take more time to do one path...i realize that my mind wanders more and i am not able to concentrate on the other hand when i do path quickly..sentences that i didnt understand before become more clear and stand out more. Please let me know if its ok to do paath quickly or to do it slowly.
  11. A brother recently asked me to post this as he is having troubles posting for some reason. 30 years ago I lady who we know was very upset about her husband and his rum. She did beanti to sister of a very famous sant ( I don't remember his name)and she was told to do sukhimani sahib paath for one year and her husband will quite drinking. After about ten months he quit and wife stopped doing paath, shortly after husband started to drink again. Same Sant reminded her about one year of paath. She completed it and her husband took amrit. Recently one of my relatives from India got hooked on herione in punjab, he was checked into addiction centers two times and last March was on drugs for a third time. I mention to his wife to do one year of sukhimani sahib paath. Today we got a surprising phone call that he is now amritihardi sikh. I thought I should pass this on to everything here, this is only my thinking and i could be wrong but it is worth a try. "one year of sukhimani sabih paath will help a loved one beat addictions"
  12. I have a question. Basically I started reading an edition of the ‘Sukhmani Sahib’. I believe it’s the 2002 edition that was edited by an Indian author named Harbans Singh Doabia. It contains the original Gurumukhi script and roman textures and also features an English translation. I was reading the ‘preface’ which is at the beginning of the book and gives a slight introduction; however I came across a piece of text which I found quite intriguing. This is the text quoted “The Sukhmani Sahib does confer peace and all Divine Gifts on the sincere devotee by his constant worship, remembrance and repetition of the name etc. This name is ‘Waheguru’ as ordained by the Satgurus. Sincere prayers and following the ways shown in the sacred Gurbani will enable the sincere devotee to come in contact with the ‘WORD’ (which is unbounded and cannot be written in back and white and which possesses all the virtues and powers of God).” That was the text I didn’t quite understand. It also went on to say “It is submitted that the ‘Shabad or Word’ has been described in various ways by the Gurbani. For instance it is mentioned as ‘Naunidh Naam’ (Ambrosial Divine Name, see Astpadi 23-i). We have to discover and see the divine within us, as ordered by the Satgurus. This subject will be dealt with in some details somewhere else. My question is what is this ‘WORD’ referring to? Or even more what is this ‘WORD’? I was thinking maybe it was referring to the name ‘Waheguru’ at first but that’s not possible since it already mentioned ‘Waheguru’ several times. Is this ‘WORD’ actually mentioned somewhere or does the individual just come to the realisation of it? What intrigued me the most perhaps was when it mentioned “possess all the virtues and powers of God”. At this point I was thinking maybe it’s not referring to a word but maybe a being, a ritual, God itself, another name of God. Anyone who is educated in this topic and knows a lot, please answer this question for me and give a good explanation. I would love reading the answer behind this.
