City taxi driver on terror plot charge Mar 7 2005

By Ben Griffin and Dean Valler

A 30-year-old dad from Coventry was due in court today accused of being the leader of a terrorist group.

MohammedAjmal Khan - believed to be a taxi driver, who lives in Broad Street, Foleshill - has been charged under the Terrorism Act 2000.

He is accused of directing a terrorist organisation for four years and belonging to a “proscribed” organisation.

Khan, who is married and has two children, is understood to live with his elderly parents.

He is one of three city people facing charges of plotting to fund terrorism following arrests in Coventry last week.

Mohammed Khan, 29-year-old Palvinder Singh, of Freeman Street, Foleshill, and 41-year-old Frzana Khan, of Anley Way, Daimler Green, are all accused of conspiring to provide money and other property for use in acts of terrorism, between March 29, 2001, and March 1, this year.

They are also accused of plotting to arrange the availability of property for the purposes of terrorism.

Palvinder Singh is believed to have worked at a shop in Spon End and lived with his mother, a brother and sister.

Frzana Khan is thought to be Mohammed Khan’s cousin.

Police said the arrests related to acts of terrorism abroad.

Neighbours of the suspects said they kept themselves to themselves.

One of the charges against Mohammed Khan says he is linked to a group called Lashkar E Tayyiba, which is involved in the long-running dispute over the Kashmir region.

All three were due before Bow Street magistrates in London today after being charged on Saturday. They were arrested in Coventry on Tuesday.

Agree thats its def a bit odd...

But a muslim might say, is that sikh supporting sikh terrorists or muslim kharkoo's/freedom fighters?

A british citizen might ask are these sikhs and muslims both terrorists?

Muslims can be freedom fighters just as much as sikhs can. Prob is every freedom fighter is now equated with a terrorist. And the people's reaction to being labelled and treated as terrorists is to begin to act like one.

That begins the circle....

Freedom fighting/terrorism is a muddy area, unfortunetly the newspapers are the ones making the distinctions.

All hail MEDIA, maya new best friend!!! <_<
