Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

amorphous_singh, you're completely right... you did generalize very much. The fact

:-) Yeah I put that generalization proviso in because I accepted that I was making a generalization.

But talking of generalizations .....

remains that Canada is probably THE MOST accepting when it comes to multiculturalism. I walk down the street and say 'hello' to complete strangers, and I don't get a dirty look because I'm not Caucasian. It must be the most diverse country in the world, and one of the nicest places to live. Let's not forget that West Vancouver was

"The most diverse country in the world"? I'm not sure how this measure of diversity is determined - but the previous comment seems like a generalization to me as well. I'm going to assume that in this context we're talking about diversity in terms of race/ethnicity.

Sure you're diverse and I've seen this myself from the West Coast to the East. But the most diverse? The UK is diverse; Australia is diverse; Brazil is diverse as are many other places.

rated the best place to live in the world for how many years running, and still is in the Top 5.

And Norway and Australia have also featured in such lists.

And many Americans will also argue that they are the greatest place in the world - often from privileged positions without any real appreciation of what it's like for those that are not so privileged.

The reason I posted in the first place was to just point out that; I accept Canada is a great place; but surely to say the Greatest is undeterminable; and by way of pointing this out; especially with regard to the original posters statement "the priveleged life that I have" that it wasnt the same for all people.

Hanji... I am Canadian, and very, VERY proud of it. Happy Canada Day to all Canadians. (I'm a day late, I know.)

No problem with that. Many of the Canadians I meet are very very proud.

"(Waheguru) keep our land glorious and free."

I'd like this the whole world over. Also concur with Nama Singh's comments.

So just to make sure no one gets the wrong idea - I like Canada and I'm certainly not attacking it, as it has many good points; but there's no need to go over board and believe that it's the greatest place on the Earth; as I have seen people who are destitude, suffering and need help and support. We all have these problems. Only when we actually have Utopia can someone make a claim for the "Greatest Place".

And having said all of that I shall be over there for a while in a few weeks time and I shall say hello to random strangers in downtown Toronto ;-)

And to repeat - I quite like Canada. But then there's much I like about many different places. Heck I even like the UK :-)))))

this reminds me of the start of the 4th ashtpadhi....

He obtains ten things, and puts them behind him;

for the sake of one thing withheld, he forfeits his faith.

THank WAheguru for what He has given.. pray.gif

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh,

I agree with Khalsa jio, this nation is so great. being born and raised here in Canada myself I can appreciate the amazingness of this country and what it has offered. There are so many people so ready to put Canada down, but living here, I can say first hand this is one of the greatest countries to live in.

Thank you Canada for everything

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
